    Thank you so much for this information. I started feeling some pain after I had deep tissue massage, and the weird thing is it felt that I was going to have cramps on it. I was sored for 2 days which is expected from a deep tissue massage. But then after playing tennis for, it would reoccur like it's going to have cramps, then I remembered I had sciatica pain 2020 on that same leg

      Yes thank you for commenting! Ah, then some nerve glides on that side would be helpful to keep the nerve mobile and tolerant of movement. czcams.com/video/HeqAXgG2g3w/video.html

      @@TheResilientSpine the superficial peroneal nerve. I could hardly walk and I couldn't feel my lower legs they felt numb. I went to 4 different doctors including a neurologist and spine, and the er. I even had an emg done and it was negative for a pinched nerve. None of the doctors could figure out what was wrong with me. I finally had to research online and now I'm finally recovering.

    You are the only one who has addressed this problem. Thank you so much. I've been suffering from severe calf pain with tingling and numbness in my left leg on standing and walking. No medicine or therapy seems to be helping. I also have discomfort in my glute area. What should I do? And my back doesn't hurt at all.

      Thank you for the kind words! What you are describing seems like nerve involvement and I would honestly try another physical Therapist. Have them take a look at your body, imaging, and consider other factors that you may not be considering. What you are describing isn't uncommon

They will only give me muscle relaxers, and the PT lady hasn't yet given me any exercises or anything actually. I have a L5 herniated disc which is pinching the sciatica nerve. I only feel pain in my calf. The pain is excruciating when i stand up or walk but as soon as I sit down the pain fades away and after 5 minutes or so I feel no pain at all. So, I feel I'm kind of lucky hearing the other horror stories about sciatica. I only have this for about 3 and a half weeks now.
    This is the only video I was able to find regarding calf pain and sciatica. Thnx for putting this out here and THANKS for the exercises in the description as well.

    Amazing video Dr. I’m an athlete struggling with this right now, I have calf weakness and some pain. Aside from nerve flossing, is there anything else that can help? I do strength training for the hip, core and lots of swimming to keep my endurance up. Thanks

    • @TheResilientSpine
      @TheResilientSpine  Před 5 měsíci

      Hey thanks for watching! I would progress the Nerve flossing to a longer prolonged hold if tolerated. I often tell my clients for a minute after you feeling you have got as much as you can out of the flossing. Nerve glides (holds) + strengthening + time often do very well after a few months. Also, depends on how noticeable the calf weakness is?

    I have been looking everywhere but nothing really answers it. In normal every day life, I don't feel pain anywhere. Recently, I've been trying to improve my flexibility, and when attempting to stretch the hamstrings, that's when I notice a discomfort (not necessarily pain) in my calf, or under the knee (both legs, but the left leg is slightly worse). Is this also sciatica or just nerve tension? Can consistent nerve gliding exercises help me?

    • @TheResilientSpine
      @TheResilientSpine  Před 5 měsíci

      Great observation. I would suspect nerve tension. Sciatica is with burning, tingling, etc. glides will help but you have to level up to tensioners. 30 sec holds to start then progress

    Can sciatica cause muscle knots and side calf pain?

    • @TheResilientSpine
      @TheResilientSpine  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes. any pathway of the nerve can be impacted. I often seen the knots develop from movement patterns or your body's response to the referred pain. They often respond well to manual work and nerve stretching
