@highlycombustible, from this same epic concert Wacken 2013, Floor+Marco killing it together in Ghost River, Romanticide, Dark Chest of Wonders (concert opener), Everdream, Storytime, Last Ride of the Day (concert closer), actually the whole concert is epic. From Tampere live, Weak Fantasy and the Greatest Show on Earth (masterpiece) to name a couple, from Buenos Aires Live, Slaying the Dreamer, Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean, Dead Boys Poem to name a few, from Wembley live, Yours is an Empty Hope and the Poet and the Pendulum (another masterpiece) to name two. Enjoy the Nightwish with Floor journey my friend.🤟🤟✌️✌️🇨🇦
To get your feet wet, stay with the Wacken 2913 concert. Then you will be ready to venture out to even more epic Nightwish songs. May I recommend the Wacken 2013 Nightwish concert opener, "Dark Chest Of Wonders". After this, there remains the rest of that concert's set list. You won't be disappointed. If they would force me to pick a favorite song from Nightwish (which is hardly impossible) it would be this one. But it would probably make me cry because it's not fair to all the other Nightwish songs that are my favorite. lol
Great reaction; in the future you will check the "genesis" of Floor Jansen in "After Forever" and later in "ReVamp"; the young Floor is amazing, too!!!
There's so much from Floor to check out....On Floor's channel she has many covers that she did from her home in Sweden during the Pandemic...."Let It Go", "Ave Maria", "Adagio", and "Oblivion"....Floor voice and emotion truly shine in these covers....
@@alejandromoya7 yep! The problem with Dimash is what I would consider utter crap taste in music. He is unbelievable though. Floor is unbelievable, with great taste, and passion oozing everywhere.
@@HighlyCombustibleReacts - LOL, yes, you would have to pace yourself...I don't know how the folks that attended this amazing event could handle it! I've seen several reactors who have reviewed the whole concert by doing one or two songs a week on a scheduled day (e.g., "Nightwish Wednesday", or "Nightwish Friday")... there have been a few brave souls who have sat down and blasted through the whole thing all in one sitting, but I think it's better to spread it out a bit, so you can savor each song and reflect on each one a bit.
@@okiejohn3925 absolutely. This kind of music needs reflection periods! LOL Or at least a moment to calm your nerves. I don't think I could handle a whole concert sitting in my chair for sure!
A few things: Just saw that you have a Jinjer reaction. Floor also growls and screams, but we don't get to hear her use the technique very much in Nightwish, however she did use growls frequently in her previous band ReVamp. She can cut from a growl to an operatic head voice in the span of a single note. "Yours is an Empty Hope" is one of the few Nightwish songs where she uses the technique as a backing vocal for Marko. czcams.com/video/vyLsU7Q333k/video.html The band is refreshingly free of egos and we see it here as Marko sings the chorus as lead while Floor drops into a backing role, then cuts back to lead for the rest of the song. They're excellent at managing their volumes to match the other. Floor will back away from the spotlight when other band members have their turn to shine. Nightwish was the Wacken headline act in 2013 performing in front of 82,000. This concert was effectively Floor's introduction to the European metal scene as the Nightwish lead singer. The band had been on tour for the previous 10 months when Floor joined the band in Seattle as the emergency replacement for Anette Olzon and had 48 hours to learn the setlist.
@@donaldcampbell9483 I know, I know, I hate it too when someone ruins it, but let's face it, unless the reactor is a vocal coach and can pick this stuff out, they either miss it entirely or they think it's Marko. Even some pros think it's Marko growling. Chase Carneson explains how Floor deliberately stays lower in the mix so that Marko's cleans are not overshadowed. She only ramps up the volume at the end.
@@HighlyCombustibleReacts - Check Floor (as a blonde) out in her previous band Revamp, live a Graspop 2010 festival, with "Disdain"...she runs the vocal gambit on this one! Her band wasn't quite at the Nightwish level, but still rocked! The sound wasn't as good as the high quality Wacken 2013 concert but still gives you a good representation of Floor's range....i.e., UNLIMITED. czcams.com/video/tIqzPXzhEuw/video.html
Welcome down the rabbit hole!!! Great reactions so far, I’m glad you are enjoying the journey! Loved your mordsith comment but the only torture you’ll get from Flor is when you stop listening to her magical voice :) I’d say stay away from the poet and the pendulum, and the greatest show on earth for now... you are not ready yet! But go nuts with the Wacken concert. Welcome to the Army!!
Thanks pablo! I appreciate you taking the time to drop a few kind words. Definitely looking forward to sharing the rest of my initiation with the Nightwish Army!
I'm always happy to come along on the journey, I just love the skill of every member of this band. And they seem like you could just have a glass of wine or a beer & chat about whatever like not pretentious at all. Tuomas is legit like a madman in the best possible way. You've got all the nightwish back catalogue to check out, then the Beste Zangers TV show where Floor just goes off, all the Heavy Xmas shows where one she was super pregnant which was impressive, got Markos band "the voice of my father" leaves many in tears (and he won the masked singer which was so cool) & yeah the Tampere concert is pretty special. Oh & Floor doing guest appearances like with Epica & Ayreon "Valley of the Queens" is such a beautiful song with 3 very talented women singing. Ah you got lots to check out mate! Cheers from Oz
Nice to have you in the Nightwish Army! 🤘🔥 Nightwish is a rabbit hole you do not want to get out of. When listening to them you will experience all possible different emotions. So strap yourself down and continue your journey. By the way, as an offshoot, since you like musicals. Check out Dark Sarah - Dance with the Dragon.🤘🔥
You might do 2 in a row - just follow the setlist from the opening "Dark Chest of Wonders" plus "Wish I had an Angel" - in a row. In that way you also gets a little of that phenomenal concert atmosphere - and that's special in every Nightwish concert. Just keep them coming 🤘 🤘 🤘
I know you're several songs into the Nightwish journey now, but wanted to say Welcome anyway. I've been listening to Nightwish since about 2003, and although there are a number of bands somewhat similar to Nightwish, Nightwish still stands on their own. Enjoy the ride!
You've mentioned something about spells or the music having a magic element. I've heard similar comments form other reactors to Nightwish songs. When I heard them for the first time, especially Ghost Love Score but most of their other songs too, I got goosebumps and the song brought tears to my eyes. I wonder if anyone knows if there is some spiritual element to their music or am I just overthinking it?
No lie Jon, I really do believe that there is some sort of spiritual or astral element to it. I don't get that feeling from "normal" music. It's such a bizarre phenomena.
@@HighlyCombustibleReacts thanks for helping me realize maybe I'm not crazy. I asked a musician friend of mine if they had their instruments tuned using 432Hz or 440Hz. I even looked at that angle about "vibration frequencies". He said he couldn't tell. Thanks again for your reply. I'll keep watching your videos. I really enjoy them.
@@jonmiller6703 I appreciate that John. I too was wondering if they played on different frequencies! Appreciate you being here to share the videos and for taking the time to chat!
@@HighlyCombustibleReacts Hey, on another note, you might consider reacting to Rammstein. The songs that reactors normally start with are either "Du Hast" live in Paris or "Ich tu dir weh" live at Madison Square Garden. They also have some great music video's of "Deutschland" and "Ohne Dich". As you've probably guessed they are a German band that sings in German. I speak enough German to understand them but I think I'd like them anyway.I also think I've heard that they might give reactors copyright problems by playing the music video's but the production is really great. Anyway something to think about. See you on your next video.
This is a very powerful and intense performance. The song is inspired by the Walt Whitman's poem. The album version (Imaginaerum, 2011, sung by the former singer, Anette Olzon) is much longer containing narrated text section. I particularly armire Jukka's work with his china there.
Thank you for the information Pekka! Very cool that it was inspired by poetry. We will definitely check out some of the other lead singers as well. I've got a new addiction!
I am still trying to understand what "Song of Myself " lyrics mean. I interpreted as we ourselves need to break out of our shell and experience things outside.
Fantastic! It's such a coin toss between Storytime and Romanticide... May have to do them both or make it a double feature... I know...it's cheating.. but I have to have more!
Looking at you while reacting is like I would look to the mirror... you just can't believe, that music can be sooooo good. I felt the same as you a year and half ago, and from that time, I am living with Nightwish every single day. Wish you nice journey, and if you want to totally fall in love with the goddess, check Beste zangers 2019 with Floor Jansen. Greetings from Czech Republic
Welcome to the journey...many did mention Ann Waychoff. If you want to know more about her, check out some of her dedication videos fo many reactors did....she was the heart of the Army. Just a suggestion,
Brilliant idea Piia! I will definitely look into that. Ann seemed like a SAINT of a woman. She clearly touched a lot of hearts and lives just from what I have heard of her. Would love to find out more about her 100%. Gabriel has been a blessing on this journey. Would have loved to have had the opportunity to meet Ann though for sure!
Hi How do you like our 6ft Angel, Valkyrie Warrior Princess. She had been with the band 10 months at this. The year before she was going through a burnout. This is her 3rd band and she's been singing professionally since she was 16 as a band singer. Her 1st band After Forever and 2nd Revamp. She calls herself a vocal technique nerd and is a highly sensitive person.
Hello from the netherlands, thanks for this reaction, nothing weird about it, emotions flying in every direction, goosebumps, also named floorgasms, so nothing weird, see you at the next one, bye !😊
HxC, realize the live performances only covered part 1-3. On the studio album there is also a part 4 which content a part of a famous Poem. Songfacts®: This epic thirteen and a half minute studio track is divided into four parts and was inspired by Nightwish keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen about the poet Walt Whitman (1819-1892), and his famous free verse poem of the same name. The song includes a six-minute recitation of the Transcendentalist poem. He explained to Metal Hammer magazine: "I wanted to pay homage to him and do the lyrics in a way that he would possibly write. It's a real, open, thorough, personal catharsis - especially the spoken-word part." Part 1. From a Dusty Bookshelf (Instrumental intro) (0’00” - 0’23”) Part 2. All That Great Heart Lying Still. (0’23” - 3’35”) The nightingale is still locked in the cage The deep breath I took still poisons my lungs An old oak sheltering me from the blue Sun bathing on its dead frozen leaves. A catnap in the ghost town of my heart She dreams of story time and the river ghosts Of mermaids, of Whitman's and the ride Raving harlequins, gigantic toys. A song of me song in need Of a courageous symphony A verse of me verse in need Of a pure-heart singing me to peace. All that great heart lying still and slowly dying. All that great heart lying still on an angelwing. All that great heart lying still In silent suffering Smiling like a clown until the show has come to an end What is left for encore Is the same old dead boy's song Sung in silence. All that great heart lying still and slowly dying. All that great heart lying still on an angelwing. A midnight flight into Covington Woods A princess and a panther by my side These are territories I live for I'd still give my everything to love you more. A song of me song in need Of a courageous symphony A verse of me verse in need Of a pure-heart singing me to peace. All that great heart lying still and slowly dying. All that great heart lying still on an angelwing. Now all that great heart lying still In silent suffering Smiling like a clown until the show has come to an end What is left for encore Is the same old dead boy's song Sung in silence. All that great heart lying still and slowly dying. All that great heart lying still on an angelwing. Part 3. Piano Black (3’35” - 6’53”) A silent symphony A hollow opus one, two, three Sometimes the sky is piano black Piano black over cleansing waters Resting pipes, verse of bore Rusting keys without a door. Sometimes the within is piano black Piano black over cleansing waters All that great heart lying still and slowly dying. All that great heart lying still on an angelwing. All that great heart lying still on an angelwing. All that great heart lying still on an angelwing. All that great heart lying still on an angelwing. Part 4. Love (6’53” - 13’30”) I see a slow, simple youngster by a busy street, with a begging bowl in his shaking hand. Trying to smile but hurting infinitely Nobody notices. I do, but walk by. An old man gets naked and kisses a model-doll in his attic. It's half-light and he's in tears. When he finally comes his eyes are cascading. I see a beaten dog in a pungent alley. He tries to bite me. All pride has left his wild drooling eyes. I wish I had my leg to spare. A mother visits her son, smiles to him through the bars. She's never loved him more. An obese girl enters an elevator with me. All dressed up fancy. A green butterfly on her neck. Terribly sweet perfume deafens me. She's going to dinner alone. That makes her even more beautiful. I see a model's face on a brick wall. A statue of porcelain perfection beside a violent city kill. A city that worships flesh. The first thing I ever heard, was a wandering man telling his story. It was you, the grass under my bare feet. The campfire in the dead of the night. The heavenly black of sky and sea. It was us. Roaming the rainy roads Combing the gilded beaches. Waking up to a new gallery of wonders every morn. Bathing in places no-one's seen before. Shipwrecked on some matt-painted island. Clad in nothing but the surf. Beauty's finest robe. Beyond all mortality we are swinging in the breath of nature. In early air of the dawn of life. A sight to silence the heavens. I want to travel where life travels. Following its permanent lead. Where the air tastes like snow music. Where grass smells like fresh-born Eden. I would pass no man, no stranger, no tragedy or rapture. I would bathe in a world of sensation. Love, Goodness, and Simplicity. (While violated and imprisoned by technology) The thought of my family's graves was the only moment. I used to experience true love. That love remains infinite. As I'll never be the man my father is. How can you "just be yourself" when you don't know who you are? Stop saying "I know how you feel". How could anyone know how another feels? Who am I to judge a priest, beggar, whore, politician, wrongdoer? I am, you are, all of them already. Dear child, stop working, go play, forget every rule. There's no fear in a dream. "Is there a village inside this snowflake?" A child asked me: "What's the color of our lullaby?" I've never been so close to truth as then I touched its silver lining. Death is the winner in any war. Nothing noble in dying for your religion, for your country, for ideology, for faith, for another man, yes. Paper is dead without words. Ink idle without a poem. All the world dead without stories. Without love and disarming beauty. Careless realism costs souls Ever seen the Lord smile? All the care for the world made beautiful a sad man? Why do we still carry a device of torture around our necks? Oh, how rotten your pre-apocalypse is. All you bible-black fools living over nightmare ground. I see all those empty cradles and wonder. If man will ever change. I, too, wish to be a decent manboy. But all I am, is smoke and mirrors. Still given everything, may I be deserving. And there forever remains that change from G to E minor. (Gem, in Tuomas Movie Imaginaerum is the name of the main character’s daughter)
6:27 Thats the way I felt when I heard that for the first time. Its like I was in a dark castle in Transylvania, with Floor and Marko haunting me as Tuomas waits to bite my neck.
Have you heard much of her solo stuff? The beste zangers performances are incredible, and her new cover of oblivion from the movie soundtrack is soooo good

I siggest you also check (maybe not as a reaction, but for your personal interesst), the studio version of "Song of Myself" with lyrics. The studio version is twice as long as the live version and has a very emotional long spoken part at the end.

Awesome! More Floor to check out! I appreciate the info greeniesr! Thanks for being here!
What a composition ...I love the guitar work by Emppu and Jukka is killing the drums. The end poem also shows the talent of Tuomas.
For Ann, r.i.p.
There’s no might be about it, floor is the best singer on the planet
Amen, Keith! No doubt.
Amen!!!
Best female. Dimash is the best, but not nearly as captivating.
Dimash have perfect thecnic, maybe. But Floor is passion, talent, emotion and charisma + great thecnic!!!
@@alejandromoya7 yep! The problem with Dimash is what I would consider utter crap taste in music. He is unbelievable though. Floor is unbelievable, with great taste, and passion oozing everywhere.
You might as well throw in the towel and just react to the whole Wacken 2013 concert, song by song...it's ALL magical.
hahaha I'd definitely have to break them up... I dunno if I could control myself in front of the camera for a whole concert!
A few things:
Just saw that you have a Jinjer reaction. Floor also growls and screams, but we don't get to hear her use the technique very much in Nightwish, however she did use growls frequently in her previous band ReVamp. She can cut from a growl to an operatic head voice in the span of a single note. "Yours is an Empty Hope" is one of the few Nightwish songs where she uses the technique as a backing vocal for Marko. czcams.com/video/vyLsU7Q333k/video.html
The band is refreshingly free of egos and we see it here as Marko sings the chorus as lead while Floor drops into a backing role, then cuts back to lead for the rest of the song.
Why would you ruin the surprise of her growling?? Ughhhh cmon man
I'm just gonna pretend that I didn't read it Donald! Now I HAVE to hear Floor Growl.... It's a bucket list item! So we shall be visiting it soon!
@@okiejohn3925 Will definitely check that out. Thanks for the recommend okie! Need more Floor
Welcome down the rabbit hole!!! Great reactions so far, I’m glad you are enjoying the journey! Loved your mordsith comment but the only torture you’ll get from Flor is when you stop listening to her magical voice :)
I’d say stay away from the poet and the pendulum, and the greatest show on earth for now... you are not ready yet! But go nuts with the Wacken concert.
Welcome to the Army!!
Thanks pablo! I appreciate you taking the time to drop a few kind words. Definitely looking forward to sharing the rest of my initiation with the Nightwish Army!
Great reaction again like I said there are some amazing singers out there but they can't do what Floor can do enjoy the ride it only gets better 👍🤘
We will most certainly enjoy the ride Darren! Much love for the comment!
I was in a RAP Journey with EZ MIL, now you remind me again of Floor Jensen and Nightwish, I'll have to go through my playlist for week now
I'm always happy to come along on the journey, I just love the skill of every member of this band.
I will definitely check that out Ludvig! I appreciate the kind words and recommendation!
yes, they were on fire during this concert and magic was definetly cast
And every song the same reaction: beautiful!
Hi, you should definitely react to Storytime, from the same Wacken concert. Floor stretching her vocals in the higher regions, again!
Thanks Friede! Storytime is coming up next I do believe.
Love the dark enchanting part of this song🥰
Good one every song is great
Brilliant :)
Loved the vampire observation. Bravo! ••• Thanks! (-:
7 Days to the Wolves is going to blow your mind
Like a Lays potato chips. You can't have just one. LOL
LOL, my wife says the same thing about cats...
Walt Whitman - Song of Myself (I think it was originally published in Leaves of Grass). It's a rather long, but beautiful poem.
@@deed5811 It's long. I've red only fractions of it in Finnish.
I am still trying to understand what "Song of Myself " lyrics mean. I interpreted as we ourselves need to break out of our shell and experience things outside.
Really nice reaction, thanks'! A tip; do the rest of the 2013 Wacken concert, before moving on to newer or older songs.
Thanks for that Veronica. I appreciate the input and the kind words!
your face at 5:19 .....incredibel ........there is somewone speekless
My favorite song.. love love love❤
I thought you’d like this one! Next up I’d recommend Storytime, Romanticide, or Everdream from the same Wacken 2013 show.
Fantastic! It's such a coin toss between Storytime and Romanticide... May have to do them both or make it a double feature... I know...it's cheating.. but I have to have more!
@@HighlyCombustibleReacts you can’t go wrong either way!
@@HighlyCombustibleReacts its not cheating, its indulging! And right now I think we're all allowed to indulge a bit.
Devil In The Deep Dark Ocean live @ Buenos Aires 🍻 🔥 🔥
ANN YOU WERE HERE
I feel the same ❤
Looking at you while reacting is like I would look to the mirror... you just can't believe, that music can be sooooo good. I felt the same as you a year and half ago, and from that time, I am living with Nightwish every single day. Wish you nice journey, and if you want to totally fall in love with the goddess, check Beste zangers 2019 with Floor Jansen. Greetings from Czech Republic

Thanks for the kind words Wanmac! I appreciate you being here with this family too!
Fantastic review and love for Nightwish, loads more 😁
Thank you! More to come Paul
Yes this one is Hands down MY FAV!!!
I like and sub🤘🏽, keep Nightwish coming😊🇳🇱Next:” Storytime”
Storytime is coming up next!
Thanks for the Sub
Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes👏😊
Hello from the netherlands, thanks for this reaction, nothing weird about it, emotions flying in every direction, goosebumps, also named floorgasms, so nothing weird, see you at the next one, bye !😊
Thanks for being here to share the experience orange guppie. I appreciate all of you with all my heart.
HxC, realize the live performances only covered part 1-3. On the studio album there is also a part 4 which content a part of a famous Poem.
Songfacts®:
This epic thirteen and a half minute studio track is divided into four parts and was inspired by Nightwish keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen about the poet Walt Whitman (1819-1892), and his famous free verse poem of the same name. The song includes a six-minute recitation of the Transcendentalist poem. He explained to Metal Hammer magazine: "I wanted to pay homage to him and do the lyrics in a way that he would possibly write. It's a real, open, thorough, personal catharsis - especially the spoken-word part."
Part 1. From a Dusty Bookshelf
(Instrumental intro) (0’00” - 0’23”)
Part 2. All That Great Heart Lying Still.
(0’23” - 3’35”)
The nightingale is still locked in the cage
The deep breath I took still poisons my lungs
An old oak sheltering me from the blue
Sun bathing on its dead frozen leaves.
A catnap in the ghost town of my heart
She dreams of story time and the river ghosts
Of mermaids, of Whitman's and the ride
Raving harlequins, gigantic toys.
A song of me song in need
Of a courageous symphony
A verse of me verse in need
Of a pure-heart singing me to peace.
All that great heart lying still and slowly dying.
All that great heart lying still on an angelwing.
All that great heart lying still
In silent suffering
Smiling like a clown until the show has come to an end
What is left for encore
Is the same old dead boy's song
Sung in silence.
All that great heart lying still and slowly dying.
All that great heart lying still on an angelwing.
A midnight flight into Covington Woods
A princess and a panther by my side
These are territories I live for
I'd still give my everything to love you more.
A song of me song in need
Of a courageous symphony
A verse of me verse in need
Of a pure-heart singing me to peace.
All that great heart lying still and slowly dying.
All that great heart lying still on an angelwing.
Now all that great heart lying still
In silent suffering
Smiling like a clown until the show has come to an end
What is left for encore
Is the same old dead boy's song
Sung in silence.
All that great heart lying still and slowly dying.
All that great heart lying still on an angelwing.
Part 3. Piano Black
(3’35” - 6’53”)
A silent symphony
A hollow opus one, two, three
Sometimes the sky is piano black
Piano black over cleansing waters
Resting pipes, verse of bore
Rusting keys without a door.
Sometimes the within is piano black
Piano black over cleansing waters
All that great heart lying still and slowly dying.
All that great heart lying still on an angelwing.
All that great heart lying still on an angelwing.
All that great heart lying still on an angelwing.
All that great heart lying still on an angelwing.
Part 4. Love
(6’53” - 13’30”)
I see a slow, simple youngster by a busy street, with a begging bowl in his shaking hand. Trying to smile but hurting infinitely
Nobody notices.
It was us. Roaming the rainy roads
Combing the gilded beaches.
"Is there a village inside this snowflake?"
A child asked me: "What's the color of our lullaby?" I've never been so close to truth as then I touched its silver lining.
Death is the winner in any war. Nothing noble in dying for your religion, for your country, for ideology, for faith, for another man, yes.
Paper is dead without words. Ink idle without a poem. All the world dead without stories. Without love and disarming beauty. Careless realism costs souls
Ever seen the Lord smile? All the care for the world made beautiful a sad man?
Why do we still carry a device of torture around our necks? Oh, how rotten your pre-apocalypse is. All you bible-black fools living over nightmare ground. I see all those empty cradles and wonder. If man will ever change.
I, too, wish to be a decent manboy. But all I am, is smoke and mirrors. Still given everything, may I be deserving. And there forever remains that change from G to E minor. (Gem, in Tuomas Movie Imaginaerum is the name of the main character’s daughter)
Great information O. Van Gent! Thank you for digging that up for me. I appreciate it!
Fantastic thankyou
Thank you too kezca! I appreciate you being here!
