- Jasper gets a lion cut! I used a reverse 10 blade on my Wahl KM Cordless clippers. Make sure to shave with a 10 in reverse to help prevent any possible knicks and cuts to their delicate skin.

My dad used to give one of his cats this cut every summer. Mostly because of the Texas summer heat, but partly because it made him laugh. Each time that cat would great me and show me what happened to him.
Wow this cat was patient. The cat i grew up with (rest in peace little boy) would have been angry and gone after 5 minutes.
No cat sits still she’s given him a mild anesthesia.and you should never shave cats fur.the fur helps regulate their body temperature.this is being abusive.
@@vickikoutsis6373this is not abusive , what would you suggest be done when you have a long haired cat who cannot groom properly and gets uncomfortable mats? You shave them. This is for their comfort
@@vickikoutsis6373 Granted that is correct in most situations, some cats have an excessive amount of fur that get's matted which can lead to other problems. Other reasons to shave would be for the ability to apply treatments to their skin and simply just being an older cat with mobility issues.
Wow! This cat is patient. I just did mine. Binx has more patience for trimming than brushing. It's his 4th cut. I used to do him only in the summertime (once a year) but the last 2 times I hesitated to trim because of the weather and he seemed to be depressed. Not play, sleep a lot, not groom much. He never has knots. I would brush him twice a week but... boy does he hate it. I've got so many different brushes too. As soon as I clip him, he is totally a different cat! Washes himself and walks around the house like he is modeling lol! The hard part I have is his legs.
We had to lion cut our little (15 pound) orange guy this week. No matter how much we brushed him, his fur wouldn't come untangled! It's insane how fast his fur is growing back. It's already grown a quarter inch in just 4 days!
I had to shave my long hair kitty because of a flea problem. Not all the way like this, but just shorter. I was wondering how fast it'll grow back.
@bttf85 just like people hair grows back fast. Don't know why everyone's making such a fuss about lion shaves. In my area, it gets extremely hot, and I have no air conditioning, so when I look at my fluff ball, if I'm hot. How hot are they? I wanna make them comfortable.

Just gave my cat this cut! I've never groomed a cat before and i had to go backwards with a 10 blade. I was so happy when i read that you did the same. Very different fur on a cat then a dog, it's very cottony and the only way to get it done was with a 10 in reverse.
This cat is so mellow it is ridiculous! There is no way my furball is going to tolerate this treatment, even though she loves being brushed. But try to brush her belly and watch out! She really needs to be trimmed, she just can't keep herself groomed during the summer and even though I try to brush daily she now has significant matts, mostly on her lower back and belly. I'm going to try to trim her myself, but I'm trying to prepare myself for a trip to the ER to deal with the damage she might do to me.

My cats will never cooperate for a haircut.

I’ve groomed my Himalayan since she was a little. Ahes always been great in the bath, loves the blow dryer. She’s 7 now and isn’t a nice when I brush her. I try to keep up with her fur but she’s getting more and more irritable. Her last lion cut by a groomer was terrible. They cut way too close to the skin and I saw first hand the horror of how a cut that close to their skin can affect them. She acted like she was sedated for about 4 days. All she wanted was my body heat but then she would get too hot.
Anyway, I’m trying to do more grooming myself. I bought new and better clippers to make shaving go quicker. She always has more pep in her step after a nice lion cut.

I just had my Simba groomed with the lions cut. I wish he was 1/2 as calm as Jasper . I was being attacked on Facebook that it’s bad for them but other than the anxiety and being careful of being in the sun .. I don’t know why people would be so angry?
Cause it's like an "abuse". The furr is made to protect them from infections, they regulate their body temperature tanks to it. It's also a matter of dimension: a cat could have problem figuring out if they fit in a hole/little space without furr.
It protect them to insects bites.

Why do this to a poor cat without medical problem?
Because cats should never be shaved a little trim if they have long hair ok.their fur helps to regulate their body temperature in heat and cold and it protects them from diseases because the cats skin is really really fine.that’s why you are being attacked and also it can cause depression in cats and their fur may never grow back I’ve seen this happen.

My Silver Shaded Persian’s fur didn’t grow back after his last Lion cut. He is 16 now. Very shocked.
That’s because the poor cat went into depression this is really stressful for the cat you should NEVER EVER shave cats fur it helps regulate their body temperature to keep them cool in summer plus their fur protects their skin plus they go into depression like your cat and her fur never grew back.this is very upsetting and it’s abusive

Yes we don’t want to shave their face as they have many whiskers on their face that they need and can not be cut 😊

Yes you are so right you should never shave cats fur unless there is an underlying health issue.their fur plays an important role in regulating body temperature,so shaved cats are susceptible to either being too hot or too cold.when temperatures get very hot,cat fur actually helps keep cats cool,the layer of air trapped within the coat can act as a buffer against extreme environmental heat plus the experience of being shaved can be traumatizing plus their fur protects them from skin diseases.Only in extreme situations,only trim your cats coat TO NO SHORTER THAN AN INCH so that’s it’s more manageable,but still provides all the protection that the cat needs.

you didn’t read the links provided, did you? some cats need to be shaved for reasons other than medical. take my cat for example, she needs to be shaved due to matting. no matter how many times i brush her. no matter how many times i comb this cat, she still ends up with matting. do i want to keep shaving my cat? no. but i see no other way around it.
You should to take care of the coat everyday if it's long and also there are tools that cut only the tangled part of the coat and not the whole coat
It doesn't matter if it's indoor or outdoor cat, the sun gets indoor too the heat and the cold also and it's a traumatizing experience in general

My cat is much happier shaved. She is more affectionate and playful. She easily cleans herself where she doesn’t do as good a job with her long thick hair. When her hair is long it’s a struggle to wipe her so she doesn’t smell like cat urine or anything else yucky. Her poop doesn’t stick to her etc. she is an indoor cat that is loved and spoiled. She does not need her long hair at all.
Stay house cats at homes with no air con (many in Europe) they thanks their owner for shave. My cat is rolling on the floor looking for ways to cool down. He loves me shaving him, he know excacly why I do it. He stays still and behaves normal after but is much more comfortable
