They once regularly roamed the entire Southeast U.S., but now there are only about 200 Florida panthers left. #PathOfThePanther documents the incredible fight to save their home. Now streaming on Hulu and Disney+
Cool
I saw the film in the movie theater.
Amazing film !
That number is utter garbage. It’s way more than 200. We see about 50 per year killed on highways, every year, therefore there is literally zero chance of there only being 200. Estimates by people who aren’t trying to make money by telling us low numbers are closer to a few thousand.
@@americandissident9062Yep, biggest flipping lie ever told in FL since the gator numbers released in the 50's. I'm all for conservation, but be truthful, tree huggers.
Probably isn’t any left. They added Texas cougar into the state years ago. That’s why these panthers are a little larger than they use to be…
The first panther in this video resembled the logo of the first jersey of the Florida Panthers hockey team.
That's why they ate named the florida panthers and probably why they changed their logo.
Please do anything you can to protect these beauties
What are you doing to help ?
why? these animals pose danger to humans, we should put them to zoos.
@@trader2137 overdevelopment is a problem. Here in Victoria bc Canada we got lots of these guys. We got so much overdevelopment here in our area. They popping up all over around here.
@@trader2137 😂😂?
Yeah, like a building moratorium in south Florida. (Fat chance, $$$ talk, panthers don't : (
👀 they need National protection 🥺ASAP
In many places they are over abundant because hunting has been restricted to not being able to use dogs anymore. My state out west has an issue with them lol. They just walk into cities and hang out on people's back porches or In trees next to their houses. Cops have had to kill multiple in recent years. They didn't have too,but you can't let a 100lb cat roam around inside city limits. It had already killed a bunch of street cats and people's dogs in yards.
My biggest concern where I live is momma black bears with cubs and mountain lions. The cops will shoot them inside city limits where I live. It's not some cuddly friendly cat. They are absolute killer predators. Top of the food chain in North America in many places.
@@billyyank5807bro these are only restricted to Florida
@@AlejandroDiaz-ll5eqthey should breed more so they don’t go extinct
I think they're magnificent and it's such a shame that they're almost gone
We are happy for protective measures been taken but I believe more could be done for our wild life
They’re not almost gone. They’ve been interbred with western cougars and the numbers are way higher than they’re telling us. We are seeing fifty per year killed on highways every year, so it’s literally impossible for there to be only 200. They’d have been extinct 25 years ago if the estimates given in this video are true. If there were only 200, we would NEVER catch them on camera. But we get dozens and dozens of new videos of panthers in the glades and in backyards and state forests every year. You can’t claim we have 200 left and then tell me we caught 50 of them on camera and killed another 50 on the highways, year after year. They’re using old estimates from the 90’s when tagging and tracking efforts were minimal.
Their used to be less than 90 when I was in high school. They are climbing back.
How stunning this animal is❤! The cub hissing sounds so cute❤❤❤. Please keep protecting them!
Beautiful animals 😊
I had the pleasure of seeing one before. It was such an incredible gift. 🙏🏻✝️❤️
In California we call them mountain lions...hello there to the Florida cousins ❤️.
Its the same animal lol. They just think they are special down there on Florida.
@@billyyank5807as a Florida native everything about us is special we are the best we are a cult everything and everyone revolves around us if you aren’t Florida you are inferior we are the superior state not only in the south but in the union.
Oh that makes sense! Mountain lions are threatening, at the very least a nuisance.
They are smaller because of their environment. I pray everything is being done to save these animals.
Onças Pardas...😻
So beautiful
Please keep these beautiful animals alive, THIS IS HISTORY WERE LOSING PLEASE!!!🙏🏼
Beautiful animal... swift, powerful, and intelligent
I'm glad you're in to save the panther, but more importantly we need to save what's left of the state of Florida.
Right on! I'm so thankful for our state and national parks at least.
They are one in the same
When I moved to Fla in 1991, there were 2000 panthers, now 200. TY Carlton Ward for these pics of our precious, majestic animals. Most are killed by cars.
Interesting. I’m not saying I think you’re wrong, but I’ve read that back in the 1970’s there were only about 20-30 panthers in the wild & that the number has actually gone up to roughly 200 in the last 50 years. I definitely think there needs to be more done to protect them though
The estimates are wrong. There are closer to 3,000 today after interbreeding efforts with western cougars. There can not be only 200 left when we see fifty killed yearly in highways. They’d have been extinct decades ago. If we only had 200 left, we would never catch them on camera, but instead we are getting dozens of new pics and videos every year. The estimates are wrong. They’re geared toward raising more money for conservation efforts. I support raising money, but I don’t support lying about numbers.
@@Caleb_PelzmannThe OP is completely wrong as are the reported numbers today. There are way more than 200.
@@Caleb_Pelzmanneven in the 90’s there were only about that same number in the wild. That’s why our hockey team is named the Panthers, to bring awareness to the dying species and partly the reason they have been saved from the brink
@TrueMr.Quinn1 I just read that in the seventies, there were 20-30. Now there's around 200.
There are mountain lions (pumas) here in West Virginia, I know plenty of people who’ve seen them.
The DNR refuses to acknowledge their existence so “officially” they don’t exist.
Same in AL...btw I just googled the difference between a Puma & Mountain Lion and every article says they are the SAME.🤔 Ive always heard that but vids like this confuse the heck outta me.🤔
@@lilmama4426 these are not either
@@natashab3412 yes it is, they are all the same species, also there is no such thing as a panther 😊
Same here in MI. The DNR finally had to admit it a few years back after denying it for decades. The population got high enough that people had tons of pictures on trail cams, and adult cats started getting hit by cars.
Gorgeous.
Florida is overly developed. Not much food sources for them
Plenty of iguanas lmao
@@TruckingSasquatch Yeah down south.
I'm sure there's deer around. Rabbits. Snakes. Rats. Birds. Probably Coyotes. Got Raccoons? Possum? Basically anything it wants, including people's dogs and cats-they typically won't eat other cats, just kill them but they will eat other cats. I'm sure there's lots of things they can eat. And I'm sure there's lots of undeveloped swamp land areas. They are highly adaptable and live a wide variety of climates. Obviously they are surviving. Humans are their biggest threat.
@@billyyank5807 being 4th generation native to central Florida and its overly developed in places that it doesn’t need it. Florida panthers don’t really want swamp land. They like the sandy pine tree areas and palmettos.
They are absolutely beautiful ❤❤
there beautiful
Amazing ,Amazing, Amazing Cats!
I’ve seen two in my life. Once in Babcock Web in the 70s when they were near extinct. Lol! Once near Belle Glade in the 90s.
I grew up in Southern California and frequented a small waterhole we called Walnut Creek.
Over about 20 years I watched Mountain Lions.
They creep up to the edge of the trees and watched me near the water as a teen. Later I saw them running kittens into the brush, as I played with my kids by the stream.
I will never forget those contacts and my kids haven't either. 😃
Protect them and stay well clear.
❤️
Incredibly beautiful creatures 😍
They are BEAUTIFUL ❤❤❤❤
Wind and solar farms are clearing habitats of trees vegetation for miles and miles, it's very upsetting, these and every animal deserves to have a good life 🥰
Beautiful
Once u start to see these beautiful animals ,it only means there food source is now u!
Magnificent
rare footage... many cars passing by closely !
I’m like puma😍
Magnificent animals
Majestic animal
Great documenties on the Panther.❤Save the Florida Panther❤
Looks more like a Texas cougar than a Florida panther
Good eye, that’s because the Florida Game Officials decided to bring Texas cougars to Florida to mate them with the Florida Panthers and got a much larger and more aggressive cross breed now.
As a cat person I fell bad for these animals they are beautiful animals and hope they have a long prosperous life
PLEASE protect them❤
❤
there r pumas and black panters in northern Mississippi and Northern Alabama
You mean black jaguar??
It's all the same animal. Cougar/panther/mountain lion.
Jaguars are different. Much bulkier.
@@apraew20 no. Those aren't in Mississippi. They have only been recently spotted again in Southern Texas and Southern Arizona just in the last 5-7 years.
Wow u even got one 🛀 👏
Super cool.
Never having seen many large animals on outside excursions, this big cat was my first!! Mid to late day on a paved bike path heading towards the interior, central coast… 20 feet away from me it stuck its head out to cross the path as I approached on my bike ( thought it was a deer) we stared at each other when I stopped and it took off so fast.
There have been many unconfirmed reports of Panthers on Fort Stewart, Georgia. Not sure if they where ever confirmed.
We need to do more to save them 💗
I live in an area where panthers a common. Such beautiful creatures😍
Some of that footage was amazing especially the opening jump
Dope
Ilove you puma😻🥰
Blessed Be you beautiful cats...may you be looked over, and cared for...
We've heard from McFarland, Carlton, and Ward. Waiting to hear from Ferguson and Fields.
@@fredericksmith7516 I hope you are referring to a gun type
No. Tampa law firms: McFarland Ferguson; Carlton, Fields and Ward
@Frederick Smith I'm sorry..I'm lost...happy it's not about firearms
My mistake. I thought you might be related to the attorney, but his name is McFarLANE
Unfortunately those aren’t Florida panthers, they’re Eastern mountain lions brought in to help sustain the population, which has inadvertently caused the panthers to be bred out of existence, now it’s mostly these mountain lions which remain.
I watched you're channel in tv
Baby!
If I see one I'll make sure to give it a big loving hug 🤗 I'll let y'all know how it goes when it happens 😉
It really is amazing just how many colors these long tail cats can be.
If it weren't for these wild animals back then and today the ocean and life we would not have fresh water or anything 😢😢 I really love these animals 😢😢
Wow ✨
So amazing ❤
Thanks for the video keep growing.
More than 200 for sure
Классный видео
Hola ☺️. God's creations are very good, nice, better than our imagination 😊
such a beautiful animal love cats 🐈😻
We have them up here in high point NJ I’ve seen em before..
There might be 200 in Florida, but they got cousins in Alabama and Mississippi...
Masters of concealment. I live in Oklahoma we have Panthers. Let one get behind you and scream.
😍😍😍
Absolute killer predators right there. Do not think these are friendly feral cats that you can feed. I know there's someone out there thinking they can befriend them....do not attempt that. Do not approach them. If you see one,go the other way. In fact, just leave the area and warn others. And if you stumble upon or find cubs-Do not touch them. At young ages they have spots. Leave them alone. If you stumble upon momma with her cubs, get ready for a fight. She won't play with you-She'll lay her life down to protect her cubs.
They are wild predators. Just remember that.
Thank You ❤️
They do not need protection lol
Una de las subespecies de puma más raras del continente... la pantera de Florida.
I hope they can survive this python problem.
There are PANTERS in AUSTIN TEXAS, to be exact .... between AUSTIN AND JONESTOWN, Tx
We have them in Mississippi. You can hear one scream if you're in the right place at the right time
Likely bobcat scream, although I don’t doubt that there are probably some there.
This is not accurate. The panther population in Florida is actually going up right now cuz they bred the remaining Florida Panthers with the Texas cougar. They're big, badass, and their population is on the rise.
I like footage of rare Florida panthers almost as much as footage of Florida cougars. 👀
I saw a black one off the savannah river in SC a few years ago. It was climbing down a tree . I saw another black one the next year in another location. It was cool!
Another one of America's animals that deserves a chance to survive
Save the Floida panther. Keep all remaining habitat for them!
Go get those snakes!!
🥰🥰🥰
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️
😍
Some of this footage is clearly CGi
They have always been in South Carolina. Still are if you go to the right place. Just rare. Seen three in my life and heard them in the swamp at night

some of the footage looks greenscreened or something.

It's just a regular North American Cougar that happens to live in Florida.

That's really sad
It’s the thing from RDR2, cool
👍👍👍👍👍👍
First one was definitely CGI
They are not panthers, they are pumas!
How can we fund to protect them?
It's so sad what we've done to their habitat. Lifetime Floridian here. Wish we would stop building so much. Florida's population of people is exploding at the expense of the wildlife. 🐊🌴🏖️🦩🐾❤️🐻🦈 🍊🐈😺. 😿
As a south Floridian please earth let’s save the swamps cats
no wonder they r so angry, hissing - stay away!! let us live!!
