Yes they meant it’s tone to be in that way only. When Sharath gave the lyrics to Chithra he told that you will understand the tone in which this song should be sung once you read the lyrics… Nothing more and she made it perfect.
@@akshaya9209 Actually, Shareth recently revealed in one of the reality shows that it was quite difficult for him to get Chitra to understand the tone for the song as Chitra initially ended up interpreting it as a semi classical bhakti song and he found it too awkward to talk about the erotic nature of the song to her whom he considers as his elder sister...

As a Mallu may I say this is still one of the hardest songs to sing. You won't find a lot of people attempting to sing this song. I'd recommend watching the original version sung by Chitra (almost 20 years ago).

There’s no language barrier. The song is in Malayalam and she is a Malayali too. Malayalam has many words of same meaning. The poetic version of Malayalam can sound confusing. Usually this kind of language is used for describing God or praising God. Hence can be easily assumed so. For eg.. say Shakespearean English and normal English. And the awkwardness mentioned here is not actually awkwardness you think, it is more towards respect. Like, how you see and respect the other person. It is hard to explain.
