The ranchers become hostile regardless. They’ll approach you and tell you to get off their land any time they see you on their property. It’s not unique to the sheep encounter

The laws make exceptions for farmers because raping animals through artificial insemination is a standard practice in the meat and dairy industries. It's pretty much guaranteed that the cow whose milk was used to make your cheese had a guy's arm in her and was inseminated by sperm that was jacked off and collected from a bull. Compare this to the main campaign missions where we see each sequence of events. This game really captures how wild the west was back in the 1800s and even how wild the world is today in each of our lives. Sad but humbling
