I was a big fan same as a lot of people and when I first read Yolandi's post about this I initially thought it was what she claimed, but I decided to look further into this and I side with Zheani on this one. Been a victim of psychological and physical abuse myself and everything she's done to prove what happened to her leaves no doubt in my mind she's telling the truth. She's had those messages verified, too. I think it's sick AF DA are trying to silence her, esp when Zheani gave Ninja every opportunity to apologize and own up to what he did. Yolandi defending him just makes her as complicit as Ninja.
I am a trauma victim of rape too and I don't believe a word she says; everything rings false about this little purple haired, forehead tattooed muppet. There was nothing damning there from Ninja; Zheani whizzes through those screens so fast she doesn't really want people reading them, just put them up to "back up" what she's saying but they don't. There's enough there to know that Ninja is a creep, has a pedo incest fetish, and uses his power as a celebrity rapper to get that fantasy fulfilled. He clearly lovebomed Zheani to win her over (a grooming tactic), and some of those exchanges were overtly manipulative. This on it's own is cause enough to be put off by Ninja, and all of this and the magical thinking expressed in the texts as well makes the story of what happened in Africa pretty believable. The videos Ninja and Yolandi posted are pretty damming too - they're full of strawman and ad hominem arguments, offer no supporting documentation, are a pretty extreme response to a dis track from a relatively unknown artist (as is the cease and desist order) so they obviously have reason to believe this is gonna bite them in the ass and they need to silence her (it's generally recommended that things like this be ignored and allowed to fade away on their own when famous folks are accused if there's no truth to them) and neither one of them seems to be a terribly good liar. Check out the evaluation done by Edwin's Generation if you're curious - he had a body language expert comb through the videos they posted. And regardless of whether you believe what happened in Africa, there's a screenshot of an email Ninja sent to people on the Chappie set of Zheani giving head (sharing illicit photos without someone's permission is illegal in Australia), and both Ninja and Yolandi illegally linked to illicit photos in their rebuttal videos.

It's not an easy decision by any means but reporting it is a good thing to do, because we have power in numbers and coming forward may save another girl from experiencing the same fate. I shouldn't of said the "right" thing to do because I can see why you'd jump to not reporting being "wrong"....however coming forward is a GREAT thing to do and I hope more women do come forward if he has done this type of thing to them. In most places, you can file a report against someone and request to remain anonymous, so if the fear of being publicly bashed like zheani has been, is preventing anyone from reporting something, you can always find out if you are able to remain a jane doe.
I will say that men in power will often buy the silence of their victims and their silence could mean other women suffering the same fate. It was this in mind that I landed on the phrase "right thing to do". I understand the guilt one experiences when you stay silent out of fear and shame and then find out the man went on to violate other women and then your left wondering if he would of been stopped if you just spoke up.
So yeah, I'll amend what I said but it's so vital that we use our voices as women...and men and speak up when someone violates us. Statistically speaking if a person commits sexual assault once, they are much higher at risk for doing it again. Even if you come forward and remain anonymous, it has an impact and could protect others from suffering at the hands of the person who harmed you. That's all.
