I think at some point in Doom modding it was established that green Cyberdemon should have half as much health as regular one. Sort of like Hell Knight is a weaker Baron of Hell.
Just what im doing with my mod, I replaced the regular Barons with cyber barons as if they were the mini version of the cyber, like the arachnotrons are for the mastermind
Sunken Sanctuary, Iron Blue Intentions... These are all Castlevania songs. The royal chapel is too, but I think it has a slightly different name? That's a nice touch
I will remember that diabloist wall in the last secret map for ages...Tbf, seeing the prior setup with a group of same monters, i should've expected it but still heh
That was the hardest part of the entire WAD for me. It took me way too long to figure out I needed to blast through it and escape instead of just hunkering down and blasting everything.

I love supercharge, it's not that crazy compared to other gameplay mods but it makes the gameplay so much snappier, it's kinda like a build engine game. Definitely one of my favorite doom gameplay mods.
This was such a cool mod to playthrough. I loved how it was interconnected. I found the secret entrance to The Old Earth before I even realized it was a normal level. But I still had to return to the secret entrance since that green monolith you blow up on the side path in the normal progression blocks the way to the minigun. Backing up a bit, finding the secret map in the very first level was a really cool find as well. I played on medium and I think the only fight that gave me a huge problem was the final Diabolist hallway in the final secret map. Outside of that, everything else was manageable. One thing to note that Idk many people know about: I'm not sure how many of them there are since I only found 1, but there's at least 1 permanent powerup in an unmarked secret. Stuff like that is really cool to find.
Jesus! This mod is beefy! Not necessarily in content, but in replayability. It looks hard as balls, being a slaughter wad with monster variants; it has extra difficulty modes; and it convinces you to 100% it! Damn! It has a lot of mileage, even though it's just a 8 levels wad!
I'm less than a minute in and I've gotta let you know that portrait of ruin does have the chain whipping that goes blrghblrggghgghggh! You just have to find it. I can't come close to remembering where though.
Im going to assume Ruin mode is the mod's "Nightmare" difficulty and granted making it so you have to basically get the "True ending" to unlock it makes sense.
Hey Icarus,i got you a couple of suggestions, habe you played Duke Kickass edition or Blood Extra Crispy? Both have been released recently (i think) And are quite a lot of fun Theyre literally the Brutal Doom for those games
I found this mod through Vinny but there was an update that actually added comparisons for the difficulties. Light is compared to vanilla Doom 2, light is compared to Plutonia, medium to Scythe 2, tough to Stardust, and lastly Ruin Mode to Italo Doom. Plus the way the true final map is set up? Nothing you have matters anymore and it's exclusively the BFG from there.
Shame you don't get a whip in the game. After all Golden Souls 2 you get a cool star whip, and even a level where there's a light world/dark world mechanic. Hell the whip is actually a viable weapon in the game.
Kinda disappointing how vanilla the weapons are. High Noon Drifter immediately comes to mind for good whip gameplay, maybe that needs to be put on top of this...
It especially felt vanilla to me since all the weapons and monsters come from the gameplay mod Supercharge. And while I love seeing maps that are designed with it in mind such as Deprivation Chamber and Sun Lotion on my Curvy Ass Cheeks, I do think Icarus billed this mod a bit too high as if it were a Castlevania total conversion and not just an impressive megawad with dipping mustards
@@nightmarezer0507 ahh thanks, updating my drivers and downloading the latest version of gzdoom is what did it. didn't realize new version had been released lol. thanks man
Man, I need to run this with Guncaster, fully upgraded BFG that offs everything on the entire map. These levels look absolutely gorgeous, I just can't stand slaughter maps. Laziest form of mod design, if you ask me.
There's only two slaughter maps (one of them is a secret level) and they're pretty tame in terms of difficulty if you're playing on the "experienced" difficulty setting the game offers. I don't like slaughter maps either but I find the way Godless Night tackles the idea pretty interesting and refreshing due to the gameplay changes and the addition of new enemies.
as someone who has tried to make slaughter maps in a few occasions, they are far from "Lazy" atleast if you are trying to make a good one. There are Lazy slaughter maps for sure, but there are also Lazy regular maps.
@@jazzmaster909 for sure, I agree with you. I was a perhaps a bit hasty in my comment because of how annoyed sometimes slaughter maps get me. The type of map you know that isn't anything special or thought out, but has ten million enemies and it's boring by finishing off the the first thirty or so demons.
Castlevania 4 is sadly probably the worst Castlevania game. Poor level design, overpowered main character, cheep tricks, snail slow pace. This mod actually takes a few bits of OST from Castlevania Bloodlines for the sega genesis. Which I think is the absolute best castlevania game, and you should check it out. If you're willing to play through a whole game for more "SHRHHWHWHRHEHREHREHHRERWEWEWEEWE" whip, you can unlock Richter mode in Symphony of the Night, and his "SHSHWHWHWHWHSHSHSHWHWWHWHWHWWHW" is much, much better.
I may have smothered the download link for this mod to death with this video. My bad.
You are amazing bro! Thanks for the videos! ps.(back music intro of 2020, nostalgic haha)
I think at some point in Doom modding it was established that green Cyberdemon should have half as much health as regular one. Sort of like Hell Knight is a weaker Baron of Hell.
Ahh that'll explain it.
Just what im doing with my mod, I replaced the regular Barons with cyber barons as if they were the mini version of the cyber, like the arachnotrons are for the mastermind
I only know of Pagodia which did something similar
Considering Castlavania's track record with forced DS gimmicks the character swapping in Portrait of Ruin is surprisingly natural
Doom gets even more Castlevania, with the Castlevania mod. This is straight Doom x HeXen with a splash of Rise of the Triad.
Now I totally need some of that Doom with the Rondo of Blood OST in the background in my life
Hey, pag. Love your stuff, nice to see you here
The best way to get an advertisement from Icarus is to create an excellent mod. 😎
Sunken Sanctuary, Iron Blue Intentions... These are all Castlevania songs. The royal chapel is too, but I think it has a slightly different name? That's a nice touch
I thought they sounded familiar. And I haven't played a Castlevania since I think one of the GBA games lol
I'm sad Sunken Sanctuary doesn't use The Old Sinking Sanctuary, but hey Bloodlines Bequeathed works
I'm quite fond of that chain whip that goes "chwawachawa" too!
This mod is hard as hell, but I love the Castlevania vibes and songs, really pushes you forward

Enemies and weapons I recognise from Paradise.
That one is so dang spicy.
This mod ticks all the boxes!
Well well well Icarus, you've outdone yourself. The download link is litteraly unavailable due to the number of downloads xd
No way this isn't related
That definitely looks good. I like those maps. Just enough extra in the weapons department.

Love TCs with hubs!
Royal Chapel? More like Empirical Cathedral!
Ruin mode is very pain.
JONATHAN!
I made the mistake of trying this on tough.
The final secret level was nigh impossible.
Castlevania but guns
These maps and style seems like it would go well with Guncaster.

What's the track that's playing at the end of every video? Thx
It's a track I made called Pale Immitation, here's the Soundcloud link - soundcloud.com/icarusliv3s/pale-immitation
Amazing mod, but the link is down :/
It says Link is temporarily disabled. Anyone know where there may be another link to check this out! Looks amazing
Anyone have an alternate download link? It says the dropbox link is disabled. So no way to download it.
Yeah I was going to download it as well hopefully they will fix the link
