    To be fair to Link. If he didn't wake the Windfish then then Koholint Island would have been consumed by nightmares makin it a hellscape, and Link wouldn't have just not been able to make it back to Hyrule but he would have _died_ at sea. I'm pretty sure Link didn't want to do it, but the alternative was far, far worse for everyone. Plus, Marin escapes if you beat it without dying a single time.

    In Chris' case, it really is a wonder why he didn't clue in Ethan AFTER they lit up Miranda like a Christmas tree. Yes, she wasn't dead, but there was more than likely enough time to tell Ethan so he wasn't thinking the man who had saved his life back in the conclusion of RE7 hadn't turned evil. It's also highly questionable why Chris and his team didn't think to be more careful with Miranda's body. Chris had met his share of nigh-invulnerable superhumans by that point, should have had something to actually contain Miranda in, even in the off chance that she had somehow died during the raid on Ethan's house. I get that Chris and his team were operating on their own accord, but there's just very little excuse for what went down in Village's plot

      Granted, Chris did explain that I'd he told Ethan the truth, he would want to go on a revenge quest to hunt down Miranda for killing the real Mia (since Chris thought the real one was dead already). And given that Chris wanted to give Ethan (the civilian who went through hell in Louisiana) a break, telling him something that is usually the start of most revenge plots would not be productive.
      As to the fake corpse, there is also an explanation. He didn't expect Miranda to *shape-shift into a corpse* . When you hear "shape-shifter", you don't think "Maybe they can pretend to be a corpse". The thing that comes to mind is taking on different disguises, not being super tough.
      It's like when you think "zombies", you think slow and decaying, not incredibly reactive. Even Chris has experienced BOWs that are nowhere near as tough as Tyrants or Wesker

Instead of any organic storytelling, they just create an expositing bunker to explain the story to you (and I understand that Covid threw some wrenches in the works, but then they went with the same idea for the DLC with Rose as well). But OxBox did find all those in their playthrough, they just felt like it was a pretty weak defense for how Chris went about the situation. The thing that really made _Borderlamds_ fans groan at not figuring it out for themselves is the fact they had to spell out that a.) You’re on a planet called freaking *Pandora* , and b.) “Vault”, in the BL sense, could easily be thought of as a box of sorts, thus, c.) You, the vault hunter, in search of treasure and fame, open Pandora’s box, a mythical container said to unleash the world’s ills when opened. Even worse, the Destroyer doesn’t die when defeated, it just leaves through the portal in the vault to that from whence it came. This is proven by a side quest in _Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel_ , which takes place between the events of the original game and _Borderlands 2_ , in which Professor Nakayama tries to keep you from entering a random 4-digit code that opens a container, which has a “Tiny” Destroyer which the professor admits to creating from the DNA of the Destroyer.

    • @ruhenshamraaj8728
      @ruhenshamraaj8728 Před 9 měsíci +18

      The Destroyer is a universe threatening monster that was sealed by the eridians because they cannot kill it. They even made an entire planet as a prison, made a vault monster to protect them as they made the planet and had a siren suck the life out of every eridian so she could lock the Destroyer in the planet. What you killed in Borderlands is a really tiny portion of the Destroyer. In addition, to top how much the main characters screwed up in Borderlands, Handsome Jack took the eyeball of the Destroyer and uses it as a weapon on Helios, shown by the bombardments that Jack does on Pandora from Helios.

      Like, he definitely didn't HELP. But between Kaine's never even hinting the Shadows could communicate, Weiss' amnesia, Yonah not being able to fuse properly (and being kidnapped) and Devola and Popola setting him up to end things? Still absolutely his fault but one that I'd hesitate to give him full responsibility. Plus, he erased himself from existence in one of the endings, definitely feels guilt once he understands what is going on, loses all his friends family and identity in the 20 minutes before said erasure, and the world was probably doomed before he started anyway. He just hastened it along by (checks notes) making friends with the book that could MAYBE stop it to the point the book dies for him.
      And if you love the Dad version, he doesn't even get ending E!
      ((which is why I'm crossing my fingers he'll be in KH4. If Brother gets E, a remake, and references in the anime, let Dad be in KH post erasure to go with how Sora also erased himself. And Aya who also erases herself)

Vivec wanted you to destroy it to kill Dagoth Ur, so it was a choice between the Blight overrunning the land and the eventual dropping of the moon, so no good options really. Ocarina of Time Zelda ruined the adult timeline twice: first by falling for Ganondorf's machinations and sending Link to open the Sacred Realm, thereby allowing Ganondorf to get his hands on the Trifore within, and second by sending Teen Link back in time to prevent Ganondorf from rising to power in the first place, thereby removing the Hero's soul from her branch of the now split timeline, meaning that Link wasn't reborn the next time Ganodorf was unsealed, causing the Goddesses to freeze Hyrule in time and then flood it with a lifeless sea, which is how Wind Waker's world got to be like that.

    • @CodaBlairLucarioEmperor

    • @lnsflare1
      @lnsflare1 Před 9 měsíci +8

      @@CodaBlairLucarioEmperor I think that's a different situation, since that Link stopped Ganondorf, it's just that Ganondorf spontaneously got the Triforce of Power during his execution due to some cosmic prank (which I think was supposed to be temporal shenanigans from his Adult Timeline self touching the Triforce in the Sacred Realm around that time) and breaking free long enough to murder one of the sages overseeing said execution and forcing the rest to have to toss him into the Twilight Realm.
      So I guess OoT Zelda gets the blame for that too, if it *was* actually related to OoT Ganondorf getting the Triforce.

      Removing his soul and thus stopping him from getting reborn? Is there anything about this in the actual games or is this one of those whacky fan theories? Because it doesn't really make much sense since he obviously does get reborn in Wind Waker and then again in Spirit Tracks.

    • @lnsflare1
      @lnsflare1 Před 9 měsíci +4

      @@Christopher-md7tf The Opening of WW says that Hyrule was flooded because the hero failed to be reappear, so Wind Waker Link is a new Hero who needed to gain the Goddesses' recognition we the new Hero (like Skyward Sword Link did to become the first hero), unlike TP Link from the timeline where the original Hero's Soul remained, who was born with the Triforce of Courage and was immediately recognized as the Hero but the Light Spirits.
      Not to mention that the Shade of the Hero of Time appeared in TP to train his descendant/reincarnation and bemoaned the fact that no one remembers his Hero of Time heroics, but he never appeared in the WW timeline (though in all fairness, that could also be retroactively explained by his heroics actually being remembered in that timeline).
      OTOH, Ganondorf claims to have recognized WW Link as the Hero of Time reborn, but that could be a figure of speech since he only met the guy for a few minutes over a hundred years ago and doesn't really have any way of recognizing so up ls that I'm aware of, so it's probably more reasonable from his perspective to think that the blonde twink with the Master Sword, Triforce of Courage, and doofy hat was a matter of reincarnation rather than a cosplay that got wildly out of hand.

    To be fair, all of Koholint Island was nothing more than a dream world, a dream of the Wind Fish; nothing was real; all within was nothing more than an illusion A better take on it is that Link saved the Wind Fish from the monsters who were trying to control the Wind Fish through it's Nightmares, and the Wind Fish itself desired to wake up from its nightmare.

    what about the hero of Kirkwall in dragon age 2? kinda set up the whole war-torn, rebellion-filled borderline apocalyptic world in inquisition.
    that being said, one of my favourite moments in any video game I've ever played was when my spirit / demon possessed wizard boyfriend blew up religion, 10 / 10, great game

      @dagothurik1815 that's a good point, but, unless I'm wrong, don't they blame the default Hawke for the Mage / Templar War in Inquistion?

      @@Evi_29 They blame hawke but in this context it’s more of a guilt by association thing. You knew Anders felt strongly about the circle. You knew he was possessed by and losing control over justice/vengeance but did nothing. Hawke was getting blamed either way.

    This wouldn’t be the only time Samus endangered the galaxy. In Metroid ii: Return of Samus and Metroid: Samus Returns, she is given the task of killing all metroids in existence by the Galactic Federation. Only for it to turn out that metroids actually exist for a reason and are the only thing keeping the X Parasite under control.
    Also, that time in Prince of Persia where the Prince re-releases Ahriman.

    I don't know if it counts, but in Dragon Age 2, Varric Tethras and his brother get the Champion of Kirkwall to help fund and protect an expedition into the Deep Roads, recovering the Red Lyrium Idol and accidentally corrupting the Knight Captain once they sell it, pushing further tensions onto the mages and templars. Then, Anders serves as the catalyst and starts the war between the two. So if anything, the Champion of Kirkwall is pretty much fully responsible for the mage-templar war, even though they only wanted to give their family a better life after escaping the Blight in Fereldan.

    Pit and Palutena from Kid Icarys Uprising. After attacking and destroying the Lunar Sanctum that belonged to Viridi, they let out the Chaos Kin which, a couple chapters down the road, causes a lot of... not so nice things to happen.

    • @GiftedContractor
      @GiftedContractor Před 9 měsíci

      Ok but that's more on either Viridi or Arlon. Either one of them could have taken like two seconds to explain what the Lunar Sanctum was for. They literally asked Arlon multiple times over the course of the level but he refused to tell them, and it is conveniently the *only* level where Viridi can't just find you whenever the hell she feels like. If Arlon was not allowed to talk, he could've contacted Viridi, who could tell them or tell Arlon he can talk. And there *was* a big fuck off space laser on the lunar sanctum that Palutena was rightly worried about. Palutena did her due dilligence. Just like the RE8 example isn't on Ethan, this one should not be on Palutena or Pit.

    Well, I can think of no better example than Rean Schwarzer from the Trails of Cold Steel series. Despite his being a good guy to a fault (to the point where people are mocking him for being too altruistic), he ends up making a huge mess of things thanks to a mix between immaturity and self-sacrifice (and, to be fair, his desire to avoid bloodshed). In the second and third game, he is constantly making things worse, to the point that (trying to avoid major spoilers here), everyone ends up working for the bad guys because his actions left them no other choice.

    I almost mentioned our character in the Souls games and Bloodborne, but our character is never a hero. They're just some random nobody getting roped into doing stuff. Some of it good, some of it bad, but we're still not a hero. We're just someone who can't keep their hands to themself (touching a "corpse", touching a broken egg, touching a skull, etc etc).
