Still coming back to watch this video. Just one of the coolest videos on CZcams.
The. Holy. Grail. I've watched about 400 episodes and have never seen Mark so stoked. Somebody get that man a towel.
That may be the best sounding guitar Fender has ever produced.
I couldn’t hold back a smile when he started playing Jesus left Chicago
John 5 & Joe Bonamassa will have to fight it out for this one.
Should go to j5
@@670TXxGregorysxXT670
I should be the one to have it If not Yes give it to John 5.
Screw a '59 Burst. THIS is the holy grail
I've owned my '60 burst for years. You'd be surprised at the tele tones that can be gotten from a burst. Black guards are great; I prefer my burst and my '60 bound sunburst Custom Telecaster. But it's all good. Good players can get their desired tones through most any rig that they choose to use. That being said....I dig this Broadcaster. However, I think my favorite year for black guards are the '53s. But thats just me. Cheers.
This guitar, a '52 Tele, and a '59 Les Paul are all Holy Grails. There are more than one in the guitar world IMO.
No tone control, extra bright and loud tele sound
@@richardrybinski2320 you own a 60 Burst?? Like legit???
Andy Sherman
IT SOLD FOR $110,000

Guitar of the YEAR!
Best one yet. I don’t know how you top this for historical / cultural significance.. I’m in awe.. thank you for sharing this.
How the fuck could Billy Gibbons part with this baby.......!!!
Billy Gibbons himself is the treasure. He can just look in the mirror he doesn't need the guitar. I don't know if that made any sense it's early here.
Yep - got my vote. That sound .....
Guitar ocd Must be early..... Sounds a bit gay. I'd take that back if I were you. Lol
Actually, not all vintage guitars from that era sound particularly good. But this one... man... it just kick ass. This is exactly one of those instruments which continue to bring Fender fame and glory.
Holy shit. One of the best I’ve seen on GOTD in the last few years
Ever.
Perfect riff choices, gorgeous tone even through my computer speakers, and his enthusiasm is infectious
That might be the BEST tone I've heard from any guitar on this channel. Kudos! And I wish I was rich enough to afford it :)
He didn't tell us what amp and EQ settings he used here. The deck may have been stacked. Just sayin'.
@@mrjah603 You said that without listening to _Tres Hombres._
@@mrjah603 6:55 Played through a '64 Custom Deluxe Fender, all EQs at Noon with a little reverb, amp volume is at 7.
The '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb is a fantastic amp and is providing a good amount of the excellent tone in this clip. IMO
What a treat to get to play a guitar owned by such a legend, and used to record such an iconic song!
That bridge pickup with the crunchy sound just fricking floored me
Oh my God the tone on that guitar makes me want to cry... I love it
I’m not much of a Tele guy, but that’s one of the best guitars I’ve ever heard.
HOLY CRAP.....that is amazing. What a guitar and story. Thank you so much for sharing this.....it's history!!!
If I was rich, I would no longer be rich because I would buy that in a heartbeat.
So would I Gobi Grey &
I can't even play guitar!!!
Yes, and I want the amp with it too!
Yes, absolutely, if it is a Magntone.
Mark, you absolutely nailed the tone. An incredible guitar and a great guitarist. Always a pleasure to view your videos. Your are missed my friend.
Jerry Reed would've slayed that guitar
The best guitar you've ever featured, period. Great playing, too. Thanks man.
That Broadcaster sounds so F-ing good!! I'm amazed. And you did her justice in the demo.

2)Waiting for the bus 🚎
3)Jesus just left Chicago
@markagnesi are you kidding me, Joe B at the Greek last nite and the Holy Grail Gibbons broadcaster today. man your life sucks 😂
That is a monumental historic guitar right there. Hi Jen 🎥🎸
Mike M.. Ok....safe day 4 u
omg
Barry Soetoro...Barry....im sorry..I don't remember if you were familiar with him or not...aparantly you were...all the funny poems and stories he would relate...he was a great young man....it seemed that he was doing better....was in school....had a better attitude. He was studying to become a mortician......then, his emails to me stopped about 2 to 3 months ago.....now.........damn sad day...peace...............
I will always remember this GOTD. Jacob Reece loved Teles.
Barry Soetoro Rest In Peace. thoughts and prayers for the Reece family. sad day
...and now every other episode has to live up to this. Jesus. What a guitar.
I can't believe Billy G got rid of this one! It sounds amazing
Wow. Watched this show for years, this guitar takes the rake
Not only does it have idiotically special history, it’s fairly clean too. WHAT A GUITAR!!!!
oh yeah. thanx Mark. in 1973 i met one here in the netherlands. never forgot ..what a sound. :)))))))
Man that guitar sounds like being dragged through hellfire and angel dust at the same time. Utterly beautiful!
Man that thing got some real growl to it. I am sure this one is going to be sold before I've even pressed comment and thumbs up on this video!
This is such a rad guitar. I love Billy Gibbons and I have long been awaiting a Broadcaster.
I’m pleased to acknowledge that I’ve got a copy of that Billy F Gibbons book. I also consider myself a rock n roll gearhead!
I note, in the book which I’ve just relocated, the headstock says “esquire” which presumable is a response to the lawsuit over the word ‘broadcaster’ which puts this guitar later towards 52?
well, i guess i won't be watching GOTD anymore after today. because it just can't get any freaking cooler that this
Just watch this one from hear out. Oh, NO! Mark Agassi "Jumped The Shark!"
That's it. The mother of all episods! The baddest of badass guitars. Thank you thank you!!
Why did fender ever change the volume/tone configuration on teles? Best telesound ever!
even the dark circuit sounded great
Your so right, ,I think they should readopt that system, it's so versatile and with the right pups you could have a very desirable instrument on your hands that could cover many genre's.
I have this setup in a '92 Mexico Tele with some Fender Antiquity pups and the guitar screams! I love using the dark tone with some overdrive, very beefy tone.
@@Devalis It's not really the dark tone like the later ones. .It's just a great tone.
if I was doing a custom wire job, I would do this "semi-dark" neck, the blend and the bridge with tone.
Jesus left his Broadcaster at Norms. What effing tone! Thanks M & J
being that I am from Texas I am qualified to say this...
also I may or may not have rolled some dice with the Reverend Willie gee a couple of times... Jesus done left Chicago is one of the best songs ever recorded
That guitar is beyond epic
Dear Lord in Heaven, that is one gorgeous sounding gee-tar. Way better than Thumpin' Thursday (and I'm a bass player).
So good. 8:34 Mark in guitar bliss with the amp cranked about to play Jesus just left Chicago on the guitar that recorded it, screams out "lastly" to segue to the song with the excitement of kid on Christmas morning. OMG that was guitar nerds nirvana right there. Great playing brother!
Mark your enthusiasm is contagious. Thanks for this.
Thanx for explaining that unique wiring/switching works Mark...
This must be in TOP 3 guitars ever featured on GOTD.
This is likely one of the finest demos I’ve ever seen on the internets. Fantastic!
Outstanding! What a piece. Tomorrow’s episode = “Bye Felicia” SOLD!
THE...BEST...GOTD...EVER...
Tioga Fretworks Yup...... Fuck, I want that guitar. Come to Papa baby.
Guess I'll have to mortgage my damned house......
Such an amazing guitar. Miss you already tho Mark!
One of the sweetest sounds I have heard in my entire life!!!!
Wow... this is amazing. What an honor it must be to play that. Not just a broadcaster but Rev. Gibbons broadcaster.
OMG--> is that a find or what! Who is rich enough to by that piece of history!
Freaking amazing! Can't imagine getting chance to play that fiddle. As always excellent fret skills by MA. Interestingly, I read somewhere Billy tuned his high E down to a D and played the slide up on cheap sunglasses as a straight bar slide on the GBE 2-3 fret... Who knows... Simply stunning!
WOW! That sounds AMAZING...
I am speechless.
I see a genuine sparkle in Marks eyes. ;-)
I’m not one for birthday shoutouts, but you just posted the best guitar y’all have done to date on my birthday. That’s all the birthday shoutout I need.
This should be a anniversary episode or something. 96th guitar to ever leave fender factory? Gibbons? Recording? This goes to the top 10 best GOTT. What a gem
Blown away by that guitar the sound the look everything about it screams rock awesome just awesome .
Probably the best sounding guitar I've heard you play 👍👍👍
BEST GUITAR EVER ON THIS CHANNEL!!!!
EASILY
I've been sick as a dog with Coronavirus. This made my feel better. Thanks.
I'm not even sure how to respond. That's the baddest ass tone I've ever heard. I just sat shaking my head. Perfectly in tune and perfectly intonated. That's a once in a lifetime axe.
Now that’s cool. The blend wiring is also cool! I’ve got a leather bag a lot like that one, but there’s no Broadcaster inside. :)
Note: Gretsch advised Fender via telegram that they were probably infringing on the Broadkaster trademark. Fender (Don Randall, that is) chose not to make waves and the name was changed to Telecaster soon after. But there was no lawsuit.
I normally roll my eyes when Mark says "This is so much better than a bass", but on rare occasion I agree with him and this is definitely one of those occasions. Although, I don't think I'd want to see the price tag on it.
How how how how ! Fender, please make more of these 😃 killer sound.
Thing is, you just can't reissue a 59 Les Paul because the old growth Mahogany is all gone. But this.. The Broadcaster, all of these woods are still readily available. We just need better quality magnet wire in the pickups, and original alloys in the bridge, saddles, and tuners, and they could make these again!!
What a GREAT sounding Broadcaster! Just an amazing tone and piece of Rock History... I wish I had one. 😍
Joe B just left his house, and he's bound for Norm's Rare Guitars
ah take me with you Joe
Breathtaking. Sounds amazing. That blended in neck PU on Jesus. Holy Shit. Notes just jumped out of the speakers
Oh my! What an awesome guitar. Could listen to that every single day 🤘
So getting all tingley after hearing this!😁
........GASP!........No, I literally gasped!
WAY WAY better than a bass! Coolest guitar on GOTD to date! Sweet sweet axe!
Man I watch this show every day, that’s the best sounding guitar you’ve ever had on....
Jesus Done Went Back to Chicago, got shot at and Left again !!! Great sounding Broadcaster. Lucky to have played that Mark !
The best video ever!!!
Amazing
I watched this at least 6 times in a row. Absolutely Awesome! Thank You!
WOW! That guitar sound is GOLDEN....praise the guitar gods for that axe.....
Song 1: Cheap Sunglasses
Song 2: Waiting for the bus all day(?)
Song 3: Jesus Just Left Chicago (no duh)
Best day ever
I've watched this channel for close to 2 years and this is, I think, the first time I've commented. THIS IS THE COOLEST GUITAR YOU HAVE EVER DONE.
Watch every day and have to say this one should be the guitar of the year....
In 1974, Frank Stallone, borrowed this guitar from Billy for a "weekend gig". It was 1977 before Billy got it back. Yeah, Frank tried all the dodging tricks; moved, changed his phone number, went blonde and got a sex change, but Billy's PI finally tracked Frank down to the Gold Coast Gay Bar on Santa Monica blvd. Frank was on stage, playing "Wake up little Susie" with the guitar in hand. Billy had the guitar sanitized.
Ah, but Frank was still in Philly in the mid 70s doing Doo wop on street corners. Gott fact check ya there, buddy
Mike Dorsey it was hard to spot frank in those day's being in Sly's shadow and all
Actually I believe the bar was called The White Swallow.
John Springer Franks's a brown man. WAIT! Somebody call ICE and have his papers checked. LOCK HIM UP, LOCK HIM UP!
Troy Strain
BLAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
Now this is MAJOR
My jaw has hit the floor and I have trouble picking it up! wow. Just wow.
WOW ,!! ONE OF THE BEST FENDER ANYTHING I'VE EVER HEARD!!!! A GEM!!!😎😎😎😉😉
Wow! That is a Holy Grail Guitar! I bet Bonamassa has it by sundown tomorrow! ;)
have they called John5 yet?
Think he has one already but why not have two? :P
He'll buy it unless Joe Bonamassa does first
Joe stopped collecting...
John is one of the few people that can afford this guitar. Gotta be 50K at least.
Mr. G. Almost forgot about that
You know all of us watching had that same look on our faces that Mark had .... what a guitar! Great playing as always!
I'm speechless.
Love the fact that it comes with a gigbag
Looool
Tom m that is a nice gig bag though
Wow, hard to beat that one for pedigree and coolness. And whether you like Joe B's playing or not, his shows are the best in the business right now. Every member of his band is a stud (studette). Everyone should see one JB show for sure.
Alright Gay Lord!
Music to my ears n soul..
wow its a piece of history. Thanks Mark and Jen.
Honestly you could do this guitar the rest of the week
JB is on his way over first thing tomorrow morning!! Say goodbye to that Broadcaster!! Bub bye lol 😎🎸
Wow. Just wow.
Man that guitar sounds so amazing. Old is gold!
real broadcasters have a certain bite to their sound that literally cannot be replicated... that being said, this is DEFINITELY a real broadcaster.
At this point seven people have given this a thumbs down......
Who the devil are they. What is wrong with them. Why are they watching Gotd. How come they are allowed on the Internet without adult supervision. Are they professional cow bell players from Switzerland.....? I really, really, don't get it.
Don't worry about it buddy they're ears are probably just painted on they're heads to look as real as possible. I hope they stay in when it rains.
Maybe Mark is a little too intense for them. I don't see how anyone could dislike this guitar; it's amazing.
They are bassists.
Holy crapppp! Nice!!!!!!!! Sounds amazing as well.
A truly stunning guitar, that’s not going to be hanging around in the shop for long.
