I wanted to let you know that I took the TOEFL iBT test today after around 3 days of preparation, most of which I did using your CZcams videos. Your channel is a godsend for everyone preparing for their test last minute. I'm pleased and grateful to share that I got 29/30 in the Reading section and 30/30 in the Listening section. Did you have advanced English before starting your preparation? Because I am not even intermediate, as you can tell, and I have to get my TOEFL for a scholarship before this August. So, I am doubting if I can prepare for it myself.

Hi Josh! I just want to say thank you for the content! I am french canadian and I am applying to two PhD programs in the US. I needed to do a TOEFL to verify my english level. Hi, teacher, here is my response to the academic discussion. Can you please evaluate it? Thank you! While I appreciate the ideas Sam mentions, I agree with the points makes by Sarah. I want to add that workings at home are more economical for the companies and the employees. The companies don’t need to buy or rent a spacious office, meanwhile, the employees don’t have to drive cars, or take some other transportations to their offices every morning at the rush hour and the same as they go back home after work. These can save much more of their times, gasoline fees etc,. Moreover, as Ally says that working at home is more comfortable, and you don’t need to dress up, which can help you reduce stress and is definitely good for your health.

Hi there and congratulations on your score! As for your question, it is always important to check with the program you are applying to. Some may require only a total score of X, while others may have more specific scores. For example, an overall score of 100 with a 26 or above in speaking.

Hi Josh ! Tank you so much for your content ! I was forced to PASS the TOEFL to study in Australia and I only had two weeks to prepare. I got 103/120 (R 30/30, L 26/30, S 23/40, W 24/40). Sincere Thanks to you Josh for posting this, I practiced all the Mock tests and it gave me confidence to book the exam and appear in 10-12 days. I got the score my institute required!! Highest Score I received in Speaking 27/30, Writing I got 25/30, Listening 23/30.
How was the pace or the speed ofthe audios? Is it good enough for taking notes while listening?

The videos are really great. I prepared for a week and watched all 4 TOEFL playlists. I tested today and got 30 each on both reading and listening. Waiting for my final score. TOEFL GO app had scored practice tests which helped a lot too.

Hello Josh, thank you for everything. I wanted to ask you about the speaking, I say everything that the question is asking for, from giving an opinion to an examples to summarizing a lecture, but I never hit the 100 word limit, and I don’t have any silence moments in my speaking. Will that make my grade lower? My exam is this Saturday and I’m slightly afraid about this thing. Also thanks for your emergency course.
Thank you for your question. Part of your grade is calculated based on how many words you speak during the minute you are given. For question one, because you only have 45 seconds, you want to be aiming for about 120 words. For questions 2-4, you want to try and reach 160 words. If you fall significantly short of these numbers, it will likely impact your grade, so try and say as many words as possible.

For now, I know 25 and 30 on the reading and listening. For writing, I did well, I'm used to writing essays because I learned to for the common app, and from arguments on the internet. I used the templates I found on ur channel for the speaking :)
Also, it's worth noting I have a 1560 SAT, so I'm good at multiple choice stuff.

I took the new test and It felt like the reading section was very hard (its my personal belief). Thankyou Josh ! Your videos helped me a lot.
I agree. One of the texts is way harder than all mock texts
@@volya2839 exactly man this is what it felt like .... I couldn't phrase it better. The second text was about history ... And it had tons of names, places, events, ideas, inferences and overall the English itself felt hard for me.

Would you say that ChatGPT is a good reviewer for my writing part? I asked it to check my grammar and vocabulary and it gave me suggestions for improvement but my texts where well-structured and already well written
Hi there, and thank you for your question. Chat GPT is a good option for measuring grammar and vocabulary, but it will not be ideal in terms of structure and style. Also, it's not a perfect tool, and it was not designed to grade TOEFL essays, so I would stick to using it mostly for ideas and feedback on grammar and vocabulary. Ideally, have a teacher who can give you feedback based on your essay and Chat GPT's feedback (if possible).

Hi there and thank you for asking. The time is for the entire section. On test day, you are in control of how long you have for each question. You press the next button and can spend as little or as much time as you would like on a question (within the allocated time to complete the section).

A very good question. The plural form of research is also research. This is an irregular noun that breaks the rule with s/es. So answer D covers both types of research.

Relatively speaking it is fairly high. However, the definition of a “good score” and the requirements for each university or license board can vary significantly. Therefore, it is always important to check with the program you are applying to.
How do timing in listening section work in real test? Do they set timer individually for each question in 30 seconds like you did?
Good question. On the test, you can go to the next question without waiting for the next one to appear. We calculated about 30 seconds per question for this video on CZcams, which equals out about the same amount of time you will have in total on test day.

Hello Josh, I gotta say thank you so much for your videos. They provide several viable strategies for TOEFL Test.
After so many practices I’ve made, I still struggle with the problem that there is always hesitation between my sentences during speaking section. I can’t help but spend some time thinking. That’s definitely a great minus to my speaking score.
Since I got 28 in reading, 26 in listening and 25 in writing, I believe I am not that bad to get 18 in speaking.
However, I have no idea how to overcome the “hesitation between sentences” situation. Any suggestions?

One of the best techniques for improving your TOEFL Speaking score is to re-record the same response until you get it perfect. Here is what you should do:
1. Record your response and listen to your response. Count the number of vocal fillers ('umm', uhh", etc.) or pauses.
2. Re-record the same response and try to reduce the number of vocal fillers or pauses.
By re-recording responses, you give your brain the opportunity to focus on fixing small mistakes that need improvement - instead of worrying about the content you are talking about. Hope this helps.

I did my toefl test today and got unofficial results for the reading and listening task (24 and 27 points).
Do the results change much or are the results always around the unofficial numbers?
I am happy, that it went so well because my feeling for the reading was not that good.

Hey, I was wondering if the toefl test keeps track of time for us. Meaning do I have to make sure that the speech is 45 seconds or will the test automatically time that for me and move onto the next question.
When you take the test, you will see a countdown timer on the screen. When the time is up, the recording stops, and you'll go to the next question.

Hi Josh, im still practicing and i scored 23/ 30 in the reading section as my raw points so what's the score estimate will i get in the test? because it says a score of 22 rounds up to 30 in the pdf you linked down below.

Thanks for your question. The reading is now 20 questions, instead of 30, so this can make the scoring a little harder to calculate. How many of the 20 questions did you get right and did you get all three answers correct on both summary questions? These are worth two points each, but you can get half credit. :)
