Funny how everyone I know that took the test, also thought that they messed up the speaking part. Congratulations.
Firstly, I want to express my gratitude for your channel, which has been instrumental in aiding my English skills for the TOEFL test. However, I feel compelled to share my recent experience with the home edition. I took the test yesterday, and it was by far the most challenging experience I've encountered. I strongly advise my friends and fellow test-takers: if there's a test center available in your city, opt for that and avoid the home edition. My test stretched over 5 hours without any break, plagued by numerous technical glitches. Getting assistance from proctors or technicians took several minutes each time, and at one point, a transition from a proctor to a technician took an excruciating 30 minutes. The check-in process itself was troublesome; I waited for 30 minutes initially, and only after directly contacting support did my test start, delayed by a full hour. It was a disheartening and frustrating experience that I wouldn't wish upon anyone.

I went through the same back in June. And even more frustrating is that it is impossible to make ETS recognize their own mistakes and refund you or give anything other than "I'm sorry". I managed to get a 106, but I would have done it way better if it wasn't for their many many mistakes.

I had the worst experience with the home edition ! Technical problem throughtout all the testing time, the agent who were suppose to make the experience go smoothly were actually the rudest people ever who would keep interrupting the test only because you would made the slidest move like puting your hand on the forehead :@ My test lasted more than 4 hours, no water no bathroom breeak.I was disconnected on the last passage for more than half an hour with no explanation and didnt make it to get the result I needed to apply. All the ETS team said to me is : We're sorry but you decided to go ahead with the test.

Thank you for your help, Josh! I took the exam after watching your videos, in particular the section guides and practice tests, and scored 113. I also want to take the opportunity to warn others who take the home-based iBT that technical issues can occur in which case ETS will not assume any responsibility and ask you to re-register (pay again). I recommend you test your device well in advance, and be aware you can't use standard paper to take notes during the home-edition test.

Finally, my time has come to write my score comment like anyone else. I received a *113/120* today after 4 days of learning. Your videos really helped me a lot during this short timeframe. I got R30, L28, S29 and W26. Obviously, I already had a good skill level but you really had some great tips regarding modifiers, repeating patterns occuring in the test itself etc. Without you I would definetely be below 100.
Thank you for providing all that on CZcams and the free PDF tests! In my opinion, you are the best TOEFL teacher on the platform.
The only suggestion for improvement I can think of is that I believe you should emphasize a little bit more that using templates is being punished when it is obvious. Your videos get watched by thousands of test takers so I expect that they recognize your templates by now. However, thank you for all the videos and keep up the good work!
Hi there, congratulations and thank you for your thoughful comment. Just to clarify, it has been confirmed multiple times by graders and ETS representatives that they DO NOT DEDUCT DUE TO TEMPLATES. Templates help you organize your essay and save you time, but they are not the sole thing that helps you get a high score in the writing. You will need to use templates to showcase your own writing and ideas in order to score well.

I got a bit confused with question 6 in passage 3, in the passage it was stated that a shooting star should be within a range of 200km form the observer to be seen BUT in Q6 answer D its within a range of 200km from the earth NOT (the observer) to be seen, So if there is a shooting star in a range of 200km in a remote area it will not be seen.("be seen" should be attached to the observer not the earth )

Thanks a lot! I've got a question about Section 1, Question 5. Why would Answer b be wrong? Martin and Sarah "Have an excellent grasp on the material". I thought that means, they understand the material well.. which would lead to them being a good tutor. Thanks in advance!
Hi there and thank you for asking. Make sure you understand the question type, in this case, it's a Making Inferences question, 'What is the professor implying..', so C is the best choice. Although it is true he says that Martin and Sarah understand the material well, this is the literal meaning of the phrase “excellent grasp on the material” and not what he is implying by saying it, so B is not correct.

hi, your video is very helpful to me! By the way, is the listening in this video easier than the formal TOEFL test? I've taken TOEFL before and I find it much more difficult.
Well, while we try our best to match the level of difficulty as the real TOEFL iBT some people feel that our tests are a bit easier. There are some other CZcams channels with TOEFL Reading practice, I would try them as well to see how you do.

Hi Josh! Thanks again for another great video. I am a bit confused about the third question of the first listening material. The question is "Why does the student say she is taking this class?". However, it seems like the answer "A" is in response to the question "Why is the student taking the class?" . Or if I misunderstood the original question?

@@TSTPrep this was the worst test of my life i guess. Everyone was so close to each other, theres 30-40 people talking so loud, some of them talking so proper, some of them talkin just like 2 year old tries to talk... There was a point that i couldnt even hear my own thoughts but their voices. Also some questions was really odd. It was a conversation between a professor and a student, i listened about 5 mins, and question about a sentence from teacher. What was professor thought about when professor ask this. I mean i couldn tell you this in my main language cmon :( i took notes. Is it a hypothetical test or an english test? thanks for asking but it was dissapoitmant for me.

Why in the first task that the answer of Question Number 5 is C? I went for the B in this case. Moreover, can anyone tell me why in the passage 4 the purpose question has an answer C instead of A?
Question No 1: Answer is C, He does not want to apply for a job at career center. He went there for a resume review.

When you need to select two answers, it will be indicated in the directions. Otherwise, you should select only one option. Hope this answers your question.
I just recently took the Toefl test and everything has changed. My conclusion is the listening section is getting harder and not enough time to answer. If I am wrong please let me know.

Thanks for commenting. If you want to improve your listening skills, immerse yourself in English as much as possible. TV, movies, social media, news, radio, etc. make sure it is all in English.

@@Simon-qi9xd If you are taking the TOEFL iBT Home Edition, you can use only ONE small desktop whiteboard or one sheet of paper inside a transparent sheet protector, with an erasable marker.

That's correct. The TOEFL Listening section consists of two parts. Part 1 includes 2 passages - one conversation, and one lecture. Part 2 includes 3 passages - one conversation and two lectures. Hope this helps.

What can I do when I don't understand a lecture? Especially the longest ones. Can I listen again? or another recommendation?
I have to improve my score in listening, the last time that I took the test my score was 12 :(
Unfortunately, on the TOEFL iBT test you can't listen to the lecture twice. If you wnat to improve your listening skills, more exposure to these types of listening passages could be helpful. Basically, you are not used to listening to someone speak on a dry academic topic for five minutes. There are three great sites that you can use for free to find academic passages similar to the ones in the TOEFL Reading and TOEFL Listening sections: National Geographic, TED, and Scientific American.

@@TSTPrep It was about another mock that I took in a center. I think it was all about time management issues. I took more time in the first initial and I could not manage time for the last lecture. This is what I think.

You can take notes whenever you like. The only exception is at the beginning of a section when they are reading directions.

Hi Josh, I watched your CZcams videos and I prepared for 3 days along with my work. I got 107/120 last month.
I m sure I would have scored much more if I had taken your toefl 2day emergency course. 😄.
My lowest score was for speaking, got a 23😅 I can deliver a speech extempore or lecture or something but it was quite a challenge to do it in timed manner as u also mentioned in ur videos. I practiced a lot from your videos and also from other free material 😅and gave a ETS paid mock test 12hrs before exam😅 and knew my speaking would pull my score down. I have noticed my speaking skills have become more coherent after the test. I don't go back and forth in conveying my point on call especially😅

Will the test be as easy as this ?
We do everything possible to make this the same level of difficulty as the actual TOEFL test. We have an in-depth internal process along with experienced curriculum developers. With all that being said, most of the feedback from students is that these are approximately the same level of difficulty or slightly easier than the actual test.
