- My girlfriend thinks I'm the best wedding mc ever.
But what do you think?
If you're new to the game, if you're 40 years in, we can all learn something about connecting with guests at a wedding and MAXIMIZING the connection through a microphone.
This is my two cents in under 20 minutes as I walkthrough one of my wedding introductions in 2024.
This includes tips from the second guests enter the room, line up of the wedding party, and carrying through the formal dances.
I go in and out of the live video to comment and add reasoning behind why I do what I do.

How to MC a Wedding Reception - Zábava
I had an awesome time making this video, hope you enjoy.
a few notes:
- I don't care if you copy my wording, just drop a comment about what you plan on using! I'd love to hear what you like.
- The mic kinda sounds terrible at times, sorry about that. Apparently the Rode mic could have used a little more headroom lol
- Everyone has their own style of MCing so DON'T TRY TO COPY SOMEONE VERBATIM! Take pages from everyone's book that shares and create your own style!!
Thanks again for listening to me, appreciate you all. If you enjoyed this, if you could hit the Like and Subscribe button it would truly be the biggest help!
Kevin, you are one of the best MCs I’ve watched and heard mainly because when you speak you are genuine and believable. Great pace and cadence, too!
Thank you Jim!! been working hard on it and keeping it fresh so this means a LOT
Great video I stole some lines so you know. I believe in engaging with the crowd as well. To me after over 20 plus years I still get nervous for intros but I focus on the task and have fun. Once the intros go smoothly than I'm pumped to rock out. Thanks again Kev
haha thanks man! steal away, its the most flattering thing you could do!
I think getting nervous still is the PROOF that you love your job. You feel the pressure, and pressure makes diamonds out of coal 💪😎
I've never MC'd a wedding before but I was asked to MC for a friends wedding this month. I really appreciate your tips and I will absolutely be stealing that "Forever Dance" line. That's gold! Thank you!
Hell ya glad you were able to get some nuggets! It’s all about commanding with kindness in my opinion. Let me know how it goes!
Thx Kev. Bravo 👏
Appreciate you
Feeling is mutual 🙏
I love that you not only engage with the audience but react accordingly. So many times we as DJs just keep going regardless of audience reactions. We should respond how the audience responds and move them to where we want them to be. Great work, man!
Well said, it really should be a conversation, to a certain extent. its alllll fluid!
This is great! I feel like we do some things similar...and I think you set some trends with this video, I'll be using that "forever dance" line. Shoulda trademarked it bro.
hahaha maybe😂I gotta have faith that people give credit where credit is due. APpreeciate the compliments and the comment 🙏
great video!!! Dude!! you might need to think of charging for this??? your dropping nuggets!!!!!
hahah maybe some day, I appreciate you saying this grif. My first class is free for you hahah.
Bro!!!!!! Excellent video, my bro!!! Introductions are absolutely my favorite thing to do at weddings as well, and I love your energy you nail it every time!!! keep up the great work!!!
haha I could tell from your last video, its definitely shows! Appreciate you man.
MC videos are priceless! Keep 'em coming!
Glad you like them, I definitely will!
Awesome job. Thank you
Thank you too! Appreciate you watching
"Hi" suddenly makes a ton of sense in your branding. Smart, dude. I do the same thing with people who are giving speeches.
I actually posted my own intro in the Help Desk today after people asked me to share it.
I may try that forever dance thing because, damnit, I really like that. First time seeing it, too.
Do you record your full sets w/ mics direct?
hahah the "Hi" definitely has a simple appeal to it, appreciate the compliments!
I record line coming out of my speakers most of the time, or I pull from the mixer directly so the mic is included.
If outputs are limited for some reason I HAVE pulled just the booth audio from my controller, and not getting the mic audio but with ZOOM recorders you can still grab the ambient audio which is awesome, and maybe pick up the mic off that.
IDK there's a lot I am going to play with when we get some down time!
And I will have to check out your intro in Help Desk! Way to feed the beast my man. appreciate you being here.
DUUDE!!!! Great video brother!
Thank you man, truly!
@@djhikevin I don't LOVE the "you dont care about us though do ya?" - The concept is good but not a huge fan of that wording. Just a bit of an unnecessary negative connotation. Something like "I'm feeling the energy from you guys, I appreciate the attention - you have me feeling like the main character and I appreciate that!....but I'm not the main character tonight am I? There are some very important people on the other side of that door and its time to introduce them!" or something like that. Just a thought!
@@djdoubledown hmm good point. I might try something else out this weekend, gotta start workshopping some options.
Thanks for the feedback brother! 🙏
Great video! got some ideas to translate into my language and try to innovate a bit!
Hell ya!
This was a solid video man!
appreciate you man 🙏
awesome video bro.
Keep them coming
Thanks! Will do!
Great pointers man! Will use these over the weekend!
Glad you like them, let me know how that go!
Ufff lol I wish I would have recorded it.. worked like a charm
@@Trujiyano love to hear it homie. Anything specific that crushed??
Time to start recording everything!!
I definitely do have to invest in video equipment next, any recommendations? I got videos of the event here and there but not of the introductions. What got an instant reaction was your method of introducing the first dance “this may not be their first dance, but its their forever dance!” Instant “Awww” from most people 👌*chefs kiss lol
OMG! In the middle of a smoke sesh lol* almost forgot to also say how fire it was to ask everyone to stand around the dance floor for the first dance! I’ve never gotten the many people to dance that fast until I asked them to join the couple!! 🔥🔥
Great stuff Kevin, have always thought your MCing is really on point. Feel like it's something all DJs in the private event space should invest a lot of time into improving!
Thank you man, gotta learn from everywhere!!
I enjoyed the Video man. Has anyone ever told you that you sound like Dane Cook?
hahaha no but I don't hate that 😂
I love stand and when he was in his prime he was amazing!
Appreciate that Marcus, thanks for saying whats up!!
Hi Jenna!!
😂💪🙌
I disagree with introducing yourself and your team and the company. It’s not about you it’s about bride and groom. To introduce your whole company before the bridal party is a bit tacky
I appreciate your point of view on this, it is undoubtedly about the bride and groom.
I take just the moment to introduce us as more of who we are and why we are here vs making it about us, but I see how it can come off that way
