Welcome back to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey.🦊🤘🔥
The best version of this song to enjoy your journey and witness an epic live concert is the live in Japan official MV in 2015, so don't miss out that clip and enjoy it in your own time.
_Road Of Resistance_ is a power/speed metal song, is one of their most epic anthem and the album version got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce. Is all about facing your own path without looking back.
    Next suggestion:
    - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014.
    See you next time.🦊🤘🔥

Great reaction. 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way.
It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow.
Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. They even played it together with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London in 2015.

Nice reaction! Believe it or not, this song and its performance is awesome even in a small venue! Ok, there are not as MANY Wall of Death as were there, but there´s at least ONE, and it is HUGE. Su-Metal calls for it just for the sake of it nowadays... as you saw yourself, the Wall of Death was ready to go already 🤣 Most of the time RoR is the show closure (unless there is an encore... the Spanish fans were VERY lucky last year!), here it was the second song of the concert evening called "Clear night". The video you watched is a compilation, it is meshed with the "Black Night", the evening before. There, RoR was the 12th song of the concert, and yes, SAME energy! Our ladies, their Kami Band, the whole team, always give their all (and more!), for every single show. As does the crowd!
Live they are some experience! Did you feel being sucked into the video, imagining being there, in THAT crowd? 😉🦊🤘

    Great reaction, thanks!
Yes, the first time they flew a drone in a crowded venue I kinda freaked out. But, apparently, it's all under control. The pilot is Mai Shiraishi and she's a Japanese representative for world drone racing championship. Thanks to her we have some incredible shots of the performance.
"Road of Resistance" is about forging your own way even there is not a previous path to follow. It's a little like their own history, being pioneers and creating their own genre. DragonForce's Herman Li and Sam Totman collaborated with them doing the guitar arrangements and playing in the studio version.

If you haven't heard "Monochrome" yet, please listen to the live version at Pia Arena in 2023 and the piano version in THE FIRST TAKE. It is a haunting and deeply meaningful song.
BABYMETAL is both the name of the group and the name of a subgenre, meaning a newly born genre. SU-METAL talks about the genre at 4:55 in the "BABYMETAL Guide" in an interview.
If you like BABYMETAL, you will like this genre.
If you like BABYMETAL, you should watch "BABYMETAL Guide" as soon as possible to know the history of BABYMETAL before they became BABYMETAL.

Yes, they did indeed have a camera drone. They use them often at the big Babymetal shows in Japan.
Road of Resistance is usually the show closer for most Babymetal shows, but on this occasion it was actually the second song of the night.
This concert was called "Babymetal Begins - The Other One: Black Night & Clear Night" and it was held on the 1st and 2nd of April 2023 at PIA Arena MM in Yokohama, Japan. It was a two night show, as most big Babymetal shows are, with a different performance on each night. Babymetal Begins was so named because it marked the rebirth of Babymetal in their new form following their hiatus. It was at this show that Momometal was officially inducted into the group; they announced at the end of the first night (Black Night) that Avenger Momoko would become Momometal, and then on the second night (Clear Night) they performed as a full trio for the first time in five years, wore their new stage outfits, and unveiled the new band logo for the first time. It was a very special occasion for the fans because it felt to many that Babymetal was finally whole again with three members and that all the difficulties they had been through since Yui's departure were finally behind them and the future of Babymetal was looking bright. I was at both nights of Babymetal Begins and it was an amazing show that remains my favourite of all the Babymetal shows that I have been to.

  • @Ganimal83
    @Ganimal83 Před 20 dny +6

Great reaction! Not only was this a recent performance of the “New” Babymetal, but it has a very touching moment.
*What Su-metal said (paraphrased):* “We will now continue forth on an uncharted path. Thank you for all the support through the dark times! Let us hear your voices louder!!”
*Uncharted path:* Theme of this song, find courage to travel the “road of resistance” to reach your goals. Which is what Babymetal has lived through over the years to become an established success.
*Dark times:* Since 2018, Babymetal’s 3rd member, Yui, left the band due to health. Guitarist Mikio from Kami Band East passed away. Then COVID19 hit, which is devastating for a live performance group. Babymetal also went on a ~1.5 year hiatus, and finally returned to live performances 3 months prior to this show. Su was showing her appreciation for the continued fan support over this stretch.
*Other contexts:* The night before (Apr 1st, 2023, Babymetal Begins, Day 1, Black Night), Momoko was officially announced as a 3rd member.
With this, the “legacy” Babymetal is “laid to rest”, and the “new Babymetal” begins.
This show was Day 2, Clear Night, and the 1st show as new Babymetal, 1st show with Momometal official, and the 1st time she has a mic.
As you can see, a very iconic moment for both Babymetal and the fans!

Little correction: it´s a compilation of "Black Night" and "Clear Night" (different costumes😉). Su-Metal sounds a little bit more "serious" (in lack of vocabulary...) at the "Black Night". With the start of the crowd´s "Wooo oh hohooo"-part the video switches over to the "Clear Night" sound. Su sounds a tiny little bit more "happy" in this 😄 She´s a WONDERFUL singer!

Maybe not a reaction but certainly worth doing a compare and contrast for your own interest with the Live In Japan 2015 (official) version which is probably the most iconic performance certainly from the 'Yui Era'. The Dragonforce influence is even more pronounced with the guitar style being more raw and less rounded.

Hah yeah I believe they hired a professional drone racer to fly it to get crazy shots of them! Pretty awesome, and a lot of trust given by the girls to not try to duck haha.
Oh, during the break and she’s speaking, she's talking about how they (the band) are entering uncharted territory (momoko was named the new permanent third member the night right before!) And that support from the fans will help propel them forward. Pretty epic!!!
They closed with this both Houston and Dallas shows I went to last year. Its a blast!

Cheers. The iconic RoR version remains the 'Legend 2015' (official concert name) live at Saitama Super Arena on Jan 10 2015 (titled as 'Live in Japan' on CZcams) when the BM girls were still 15-17. It was a stunning rebuttal to metal gatekeepers who dismissed their Sonisphere UK & viral 'Gimme Choco' MV feats in 2014 as gimmicky. More so if you grasp the uplifting lyrics.
Crazier thing is RoR wasn't even officially released yet at that time, but the 20,000 audience knew what to do based on fancams of the song's live debut in London a couple months prior & the full audio track available as a limited download bonus days before the Saitama gig.
2014-2016 was the halcyon days of BM's classic era -- original lineup, Kami Band East (beloved Japanese musicians), rabid fans -- when they caught lightning in a bottle almost gig after gig. Dailymotion has the full 7-song set at Metrock 2015 if you wanna relive how maniacally brilliant their live shows were back then.
Since then, the girls have obviously grown older, but also knew how to pace better, switched to Kami Band West (solid American musicians), & are more seasoned & polished in still delivering scintillating concerts. The more recent CZcams-permitted uploads (especially the many 2021 Budokan & 2023 PIA Arena highlights) reflect all these traits, & also finally have English subs for the lyrics.
Nothing wrong with reacting to the latter, especially by newcomers. We older fans tend to be very nostalgic & want to recommend the earlier performances all the time. That said, BM also has a very long history, with prolific releases of concert DVDs/BluRays to match. So there is a very deep foxhole to dive into, although CZcams uploads tend to be haphazard & you really need to familiarize with BM's chronology (or at least search using year &/or venue as keywords) to know which is which.
