So nice of Samsung to always include a list of ideas for your durability test when you first open up your flip.
😂
Lmafo
IT 'S TRUE
😅😅
Funny thing is I think they added this list after Jerry did all of these things in his first ever fold durability test.
Even after watching for years, scratching the metal with a razor blade still hurts my ears
It is terrible ! I can't watch with the sound on... He should cut the scratching sound .
Haha yes it is the modern equivalent of the teacher's nails on the chalkboard! 😛
it still hurts but trust me, you are way more durable on that sound compared to first time. I bet first time you wanted to die, but now easy @_@ get through it even tho it's painful

I agree
Just imagine you're a cellphone happy to go to your new owner and all the fun memories you'll make together. Then Jerry opens the box 😆

I just bought the Flip 4 and was putting off watching this video because it looked scary. But now I have peace of mind knowing it's not going to just break instantly and it's quite resilient!
Same! Lol it actually gave me some piece of mind.
I bought a tough case for it so I should be good 👍
My first had a battery issue and the one I have now, the pixels are failing
a piece of fluff is gonna scratch your screen lmao
Honestly, having this fragile phone I coudn't watch properly, but because of your comment, my mind is at ease, thank you!
@Willem Cahill-Chiaroni just dont stab it, and you're fine. The screen is only exposed when in use ding dong.

Really impressed with the bend test - I thought it would snap in half like a biscuit 😅 This is actually a good advert for the phone (aside from the plastic screen), its much tougher than I expected.
The plastic screen... It is the best we have right now so 🤷 definitely is a durable phone to me as a flip phone
Honestly I've had the phone for a few days and the plastic screen doesn't bother me at all. No scratches yet, hopefully can keep it that way for a while
Will acrylic or polygell nails affect it cause I like to paint my nails and wanting to do long ones I don't want to damage the phone with them though
The screen isn't actually plastic.. it's just a plastic screen protector. But yeah the screen is still fragile af so it may as well be plastic lol
It's not a plastic screen. It's a factory-installed screen protector. You can't remove it without bricking the phone, but you can ask Samsung to replace it for ya. It costs ~$30. Of course, depending on where you live, finding someone certified to do the replacement may not be easy.
Wish there was a scratch test without the screen protector. Or to see how much the screen protector is actually helping protect the "thin glass" screen! Great content as always!
if u remove the screen protector you will most likley break the screen in the process there is a reason why samsung offeres screen protecter replacement services because if u dont do it right then goodbye screen
@@mizzo2983 It does not break your screen anymore (since Flip3) but it voids your warranty.... so still not recomended

Nah. Couldn’t overcome faith in conventional shape. Bought a S22 instead.

Jerry, how can you expect someone to say "no" to your durability test on the Samsung galaxy watch 5? other than Samsung themselves that is...

This provided me alot of piece of mind, dont remember seeing dust warnings when powering up new phones. My car is very dusty and i mainly use the phone for navigation. Im interested to see the teardown of it, and to see how much of that dust managed to make its way into the bristles and the rest of the phone
If you use your phone for navigaton what would your motivation be for wanting a compact phone?
I have a Note 20 + and Its a dream for maps/multi-app. Just sticks out of some pockets as a result.

It still works completely fine, almost no visible scratches on the inner screen, only the battery life is not perfect. I have it on the 85% charge mode and at about 10-11pm it hits 15%. So when I want to leave the house at night I have to plug it in before. Oh and the original screenprotector starts to peel of in the crease. Best to do these both together in one review
The popping sound comes from the new lock mechanism in the hinge that 3 didn't have. You can feel a very tiny light pop when you open the phone very slowly. Try it. It's so, compared to the flip 3, it can last longer and be positioned in every position longer in the phones lifetime.

Something your scratch tests don't test on plastic screens is, although it "scratches at a level 2", will the screen heal those scratches? Obviously the level 3 "deeper grooves" won't heal, but those level 2 indents look like they could.
and thats also not the screen but the screen protector, which you can get it replaced at the samsung store for free.
@@LeonRiviayeah but the other components under the foldable are not very strong
Hey Jerry I appreciate every video that you create. I was just wondering if the plastic inner screen had one of those removable layers. In your video it kind of looked like the plastic was on there cut out around the camera. Am I thinking incorrectly? Even during the burn test it said that the inner plastic screen melted and I thought that that was actually the generic manufacturer plastic phone screen that they put on most phones.
I noticed that too
Thanks Jerry for rigs this phone..
i recently got the flip 3 and i love it, i was thinking of upgrading, but not in my budget at all. and it was oddly satisfying, but also a little painful to watch you break a phone i want ;-; but it's good to know it's durable!
also on my flip3 the original screen protector got ruined and had to come off because it was obstructing my viewing in some spots (mostly the fold part) and i soon started to notice the screen get small scratches (again mostly in the fold section) and it made me sad. i do love this phone and will likely upgrade to a fold 5, but i'm going to ride this 3 until i get my (like 200,000) folds in and the phone isn't usable.

Jerrys videos are my intrusive thoughts come to life
9:15 Is a nice feature in my opinion... You're never going to get rocks and stuff denting the screen if it never full closes
I agree. It may not have a flat profile, but Samsung ultimately designed it with the intention of maintaining it. Another reason for the slight gap is them to make the phone water resistant. Other foldable phones do not have that.
The second you mentioned that finger nails can scratch the screen, I was like NOPE, they're not there yet
I was thinking about getting one and no other video mentioned this. Had the same reaction as you, it doesnt make any sense… its bound to get all scratched
I'd love to see him do some stuff like a drop test folded and opened and using the phone to 'wipe' into the grit before showing us.
With my phones I mostly only worry about accidental dropping and of course, screen scratching.
This has given me a lot of relief and I feel much better going forward with my choice.

It's running into some software issues- not sure if that's Kyocera or Verizon related, but I've been doing some research and it brought me back to you.
Curious what you think of the three seemingly up-and-coming rugged phone brands that are gaining popularity in the Chinese market: Blackview, Doogee, and Ulefone. Would love to see them go through the durability test and get torn down, especially after your review of the AMG budget-rugged Opera-shouting device.
P.S., I thought I had subscribed to you last year, but I was mistaken. That ignominy has been rectified as of today.
1:38 first time to see his reaction while making scratches on a screen
I do admit that folding screens are an incredible technology, but that thing is scratchable by just fingernails, so in conclusion today it's still a niche thing. Maybe in the future it'll be fine, but not today
Jerry scratched the screen protector and not the actual screen itself. Rewatch that part again.
@@Lucky-hl6bz yeah but the screen protector seems to be a necessary accessory on this kind of phone. Prying your fingers in to open the phone also seems to be necessary. If you don't want scratches on your screen, seems like you'd be replacing that protector very frequently. If they don't though, it's completely unviable.)
