  • How to Riffle the deck when dealing a Texas Holdem hand explained. The Riffle is the main component of the Shuffle. The Shuffle process is Riffle-Riffle-Box-Riffle-Cut and is performed by the Dealer after every hand, to begin a new hand. This process mixes the cards in a way that they are completely random again from the previous hand after completing a proper Shuffle. That's why it's so important to Shuffle and specifically Riffle properly.
To start the Riffle, make an even cut so you have two packs of cards roughly the same size. Do this by taking a pack off the top of the deck and set it to the side of the remaining pack. Lay your hands flat on the deck with thumbs on the back, middle corners. Use each pinky finger to cup the deck. The key is to get air between the cards. When you lift up the deck only release with your thumbs. Once you have the corners of the cards interlocked, they will go together easily if you have enough air between the cards. Only lift the back corners of the packs with your thumbs so neither the player nor yourself as the dealer can see the card faces.
Avoid pressing down on the packs of cards. This will flush out all of the air you need to riffle properly. A proper professional riffle takes time, so continue to practice.
