A mountainous country is always beautiful.
Absolutely 🤗
Very nice journey…did a trip from Germany to London in 2019. European train travel is superior to such travel here in the US.
Since the introduction of the KlimaTicket (1095€, 3€/day for a yearly ticket for all public transport in Austria including the high-speed trains) I slowly began to adore the Westbahn because of the benefits they give you: you get a free reservation with every ticket, you get a free upgrade to the 2+ class and you can also check-in at your seat with the QR code and collect points for every ride which you can exchange for food and drinks at the vending machine). The interior is pretty comfy and these small lounge couches are also great. Service to Munich also worked like a charm (except the German border police stopped the train after Salzburg for 20 minutes) and btw: from December 10th Westbahn is expanding service to Vorarlberg with (I think 4 to 6 connections)
Great video. Love the new decor. First class is worth the money. Beautiful scenery and picturesque towns along the way.
Thank you Max.😀💚♥️
Glad you enjoyed it Scott 😊
@@NonstopEurotrip 😀😀😀💚💚
@@scottyerkes1867 Max is the first name of nonstop eurotrip? I finally know his first name then.
@@louislegrand2865 Yes. His name is Max
@@scottyerkes1867 How secretive this nonstop eurotrip is! Have you seen it for real?
That must have been an awesome journey!🚅
It was 😆
The livery of these trains is beautiful. Like the platform level entry.
Lovely interesting, informative and gentle video, in one of my favourite countries and two cities. Thank you. 🤗🤗🤗
The sofa/bench seating has a technical reason: Situated above the door you cannot place regular seats at the window because of the space required by the doors and their mechanism. Some such doubledecker cars have 1+1 seating with some distance from the window in that area, here they solved it by offering those unreserved couches which appear to be popular among travelling groups.
Yeah Indeed 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing the lovely video from Vienna to Salzburg. Been to both cities( Salzburg and Vienna ) decades ago and will return to Vienna via Budapest ( on train ) this year for a 3 nights stay and then fly to London.
Nice trip.
Enjoy the travelling
Wow, so beautiful! Great video.
I have taken the other route, Munich to Salzburg, few times. That's a cheaper one, as well. But this one feels having such a smooth and comfortable ride.
Another great video! I love both Vienna and Salzburg!
Me too 😊
Looks like a superb trip and the train is fabulous. Good to see a clean place; here in Sydney there's rubbish, tags and graffiti everywhere -- even scratched into the glass of the train windows! I love your videos, btw.
Yeah... nice paint pattern design, first-class... first world train, cool... ! Yes some food should have been great... That's a very nice train man, and so the city, just like in the movies. Fantastic job... !
Beautiful video !!! 😍
Those new Westbahn trains do look really nice and beautiful. Very nice trains. Great video as always.
Absolutely 🤗
😊
We had taken this trip in 2016 and Salzburg is fabulous and so well connected with Vienna. Attending an Opera at the Music Festival stands out in my mind because of the quality of the production. They put up on the big screen (next to the Salzburg Cathedral) where one can see free the event of that evening. Incidentally, there is a non-stop bus which goes to the Vienna Airport (quite a bit of distance from the city) from Westbahnhof and, as you know, it is easy to get to Westbahnhof by trams.
Excellent 😊
Great video as always and I must say this new trainset is fantastic, in my opinion and Vienna is magnificent city, isn't it and this city is definitely on my bucket list, I wish to visit it but it's going to take some years. 😔
Thanks mate 😊 It truly is a beautiful city 👍🏻
Why do you think it is fantastic? It seems no different than any of the 100 or so small local and regional outfits operating in Germany which provide the least possible comfort and amenities.
Great video as always These never West Bahn unitos look really good🚄🚄🚄🚄
Absolutely 🤗
Maravilloso, muchas gracias
Quite a nice upgrade from the trains I used on my visits to Austria some 30 years ago....
Absolutely yes ☺️
Thank you for an excellent video ! Glad you included a brief view of the City of Salzburg, very familiar to me, and a real favourite. Whilst the new Stadler built Kiss units look nice, I much prefer the OBB RailJets ! It really is a bit of a nerve for Westbahn to start running 4 times daily to Munchen, as the OBB RailJet service is virtually hourly all day from Wien ! Maybe the looming competition will encourage OBB to reduce some fares, but by using the OBB site, some very reasonable fares can be found. So I will continue to use the RailJet service !
Great video, as always! These newer WestBahn units look really good. I am glad that the 1st class is finally in the 2 + 1 arrangement. The last time I traveled WestBahn, it was still old set with 1st class in a 2 + 2 configuration .. but it probably didn't matter so much, because I was the only passenger in 1st class :-D
Thanks Pete. Apparently the older 4-car units did have 2+1 in first class 👍🏻
@@NonstopEurotrip Yes, 4-car had, but these units been sold to Deutsche Bahn. I traveled on 6-car long older unit and there were 2 + 2 in 1st class (these units still had 2-leaf doors)
@@PeteBrandy Real trains are double-decker. There you go, Pete. You can subscribe by paying 5.01 in local currency to appear at the top of the channel list in blue, preceded by an at sign; it pays more to go to Dylan's; you'll see.
@@louislegrand2865 Double-decker trains are also interesting. I took the same train in the summer of 2021 :-)
@@PeteBrandy Personally, I only love double-decker trains.
Big platform level doors with big door areas, sofa areas on the upper level, I`m getting some IC 2000 vibes here.
Thank you for this great video! I've never been on a train operated by Westbahn before, but this will change, since they'll serve from April 8th also Munich East and Central station in Bavaria. Prices are also very good like Munich - Salzburg from 8,99 € which is a great deal and will be a big concurrent to the regional train BRB (between Munich and Salzburg) and the ÖBB RailJet long-distance train (between Munich - Salzburg - Linz - Vienna). It will also stop on Munich East which is a big station in Munich with connections to the Munich airport (30 min from there) and other Austrian and Italian destinations served by ÖBB and DB: Innsbruck, Wörgl, Graz, Bozen, Bologna, Rome, Venice, Budapest, etc.
Very helpful. Now I know which class and train to take. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Amazing views.
Great trip report
Thanks 👍🏻
so wish i was there right now, I really miss Austria
Amazing country isn't it! 😍
great design!
Very much reminds me of the Hauptbahnhof in Innsbruck.
I really like Westbahn. I live in Salzburg and it's very convenient to have hourly trains to the capital. They're also cheaper than Öbb whilst delivering as good of a service.
I also liked that, during the Donauinselfest (biggest open air festival with free admission), the trains ran every 30 minutes!
Ooh excellent 😊👌🏻
Yes, I agree that “cheap” is the main principle for Westbahn. I would call it even the philosophy of Westbahn. Dreadful, unless cheap is what you want.
Nice train.
Stadler, from my home area of St. Gallen, Switzerland makes some pretty trains. I will seriously consider trying Westbahn when they begin Munich to Vienna.
Me too 😊
Again I really like this adventure. One of my favorite. I would really like to see Salzburg but that is highly unlikely. I’m fortunate to be able to see it through your adventures.
Check out my Salzburg cable car video too 🙂
Great video !!
Thanks 👍🏻
The Stadler cars a beautiful.
👍Nice to watching your video 😀
Best greetings from Switzerland
Thank you ☺️
The video is great, feel like we are travelling with you.
I have once taken the westbahn from salzburg to Attnang-Puchheim to transfer OBB to Hallstatt, it was a nice experient.
Thank you 🙏🏻
I really liked the train.
I am going to travel in this train soon !
Took the Westbahn from Salzburg to Vienna and back last summer.
I decided to pay a little bit extra for 2+ Comfort and loved that the carriage was never crowded too much on both journeys.
For the German part of this journey I used the 9€ ticket so trains there were packed.
Thanks for sharing ☺️
I loved it ... thank for the video
Glad you enjoyed!
Austria looks like Rivendell in real life
You should your the train from Salzburg to Hallstatt. You’ll love that view regardless if it’s summer or winter. I took it in April 2022, one of the best trains I’ve ever taken with OBB.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Great video 👍👍👍👍 bro
Thanks 👍🏻
Hey the red bus at the beginning is one of them that I drive to school! Also I live in Austria!!!-
Yay 😁🚌
Yoo i love the Austrian trains!
Same ☺️
Westbahn has a really good concept - like the Disneylandversion of Snowpiercer i guess :D. They have a variety of themed wagons. You have a family zone with some entertainment i think (not sure if they have slides and rubber blocks though like others), a normal commuters zone, a quiet zone (where people keep the chatter low and dont blast their phones), maybe somekind of restaurant, a bike wagon and when smoking was still allowed a few years back a smokers area too.
I agree! Except the smoking 😅
Westbahn’s concept seems to me to aim to be as cheap as possible. Not sure about the Disney reference.
Exllent journey I travel this train
Thanks 🙏🏻
Nice
Nice intro music - And with the UK's train service not quite as good, very apt!
Very envious - it's a trip - and a pair of cities - I'd like to see.
Definitely worth it 🙂
Westbahn is highspeed letz goo
Great video! The train is impressive. I like the level boarding and the retractable step over the gap - lack of this is a big issue for me on Amtrak trains when shlepping luggage. I don’t like the colours of the livery as they have a bit of a popsicle vibe and look more like a city bus than a train. The interior is much more elegant and stylish.
Thank you Heather 👍🏻
Ask for a red cap for help on Amtrak
It needs to be a major city station to try to get a red cap when you board Amtrak. But even at a major station there’s no one to assist when you disembark. At least along the northeast corridor.
Compared to a SBB RABe 511 stadler kiss, there is indeed a difference with doors, and front has been modified, interesting!
Yep 😊
I rode on WESTbahn To Munich last month
You call St Pölten a little city haha here in Austria we would say it‘s a big one!😂😂😂
Little cities in Austria have around 5-10k inhabitants. Everything that has more is a big city in our small Austrian thinking.😂😉
Lol 🤣
Great video. I actually really like the livery. Not sure why anyone wouldn't take WestBahn on this route with it being 30% less.
True yeah 😊
3 classes and 2 levels, wow. Somebody must have taken hints from Airbus 380...
My wife has asked me to tell you that she likes your theme music as it's "a happy little tune" but that just may be a fever dream as she has covid.. For 1st Class, especially for the Munich service, you'd expect a cup of coffee & a little snack.. Double decker trains are always a novelty for us Brits with our narrow loading gauges...
Did you re-enact any scenes from The Sound of Music while in Salzburg?
Thank you Mark, and wife! No sound of music re-enactment, just some Mozart 😂
KISS trains seem to be very nice - great livery. I was shocked to see the electrical infrastructure on the platform at the first station out of Vienna. I hope it was not live and just left there as an homage to earlier technology!
Do you mean the switchboard @7:19?
That's quite standard and perfectly safe. There is no electricity at the platform level, just the operating levers which are connected to the actual switches on top via fiberglass (i.e. well insulated) rods. The switches are at the same height as the overhead power lines. Plus the whole rack is of course grounded.
What's the catering like in OBB 1st class? Salzburg looks amazing
Hot food menu
Great video as it is very timely for me to discover your video because my husband and I are planning a 5-day vacation to Austria particularly Vienna, Salzburg and Hallstatt before boarding the E. Medi Cruise from Venice, Italy. By the way, can you give us an idea which train to take from Italy to Vienna and if it is better to get round trip tickets. Thank you for sharing your video. I am now one of your subscribers.😊
Welcome along and thanks for watching! The best train services from Venice to Vienna are the Railjet or Nightjet services.
I Will try to ride these train
Hi! Did you have to reserve a seat in order to get one? Do you also know if it is recommended to reserve a seat or there will most likely be seats available if i do not reserve one?
Unless it's a weekend or public holiday I wouldn't bother reserving a seat for second class, but if you want to sit with friends then it's a small cost to do it in advance. Comfort and first class upgrades already include a free seat reservation
Красивая страна. Можно сказать - страна для жизни )
no snacky snack time??? sad!!! KISS should have lil bistro!!
Not today...
nice video... lulz, that woman 1:38 gesturing ... to the people she's gonna cross who didn't have mask on...lol
😂😂😂
Excellent video but ÖBB offers Wien Hbf to Frankfurt Am Main Hbf via Hauptstrecke München-Augsburg and Schnellfahrstrecke Mannheim Ulm tickets that is using the Railjet trains. One Railjet trips Frankfurt Am Main to Wien Hbf avoids Hauptstrecke München-Augsburg instead it uses Arlbergbahn Innsbruck route.
Excellent 😊
have you travelled on the 1st generation of kiss ?
Very similar
The train looks nice , but when your competition is Railjet nice is just not good enough. And while departure day prices are significantly cheaper, the early booking will lower that difference significantly. So I would probably consider Westbahn on the route only if I had to take it without planning earlier. Otherwise I'd go with ÖBB.
They're both great services 😊
I'm pretty happy with Railjet in First, but second class is rather underwhelming, and in my experience the seats were too low for me. So I will definitely give Westbahn a try. Not sure about catering, though, I mean, machines?
Hi, would you recommend me traveling with 3piece of luggage on the train?
I'd take Railjet, much more luggage space!
I quite liked the livery until the green was worked into the blues - then it was like other operators trying to look 'hip' and modern. Being old fashioned I have always felt that a striking simple livery stands out best, and can show quality. That said the interiors were very nice, and the quiet ride was exceptional. I agree that at least coffee and a small snack could be included in the First Class price. But everything has to be paid for and there is no such thing as complimentary - it's just a bonus included in the price you pay. Great vid as always from the Tina Turner of train travels, "You're Simply the Best". (sorry - I can't help myself at times)
"Better than all the rest", right? 😅 Yeah Jon you've summed it up pretty well there! I like both Westbahn and ÖBB, and competition is good, whatever form it's in!
Nice and beautiful journey! But I have a question. I was in Salzburg last December (2022), and made some short round trips. This price is not expensive, but I thought the price from Salzburg to Innsbruck (112 euros) too expensive! What's the reason to pay a value like that even inside of a country? Thanks from Rio de Janeiro!!
I've never seen it that expensive. Advance tickets start at 19.90 euros
@@NonstopEurotrip All right, but at the same day I paid from Salzburg to Munich 28 euros. Look, it's another country and I paid only this, but from Salzburg to other city even in Austria the price is higher! Thanks friend!!
@@DanielSilva-cf8ri yeah it's weird!!
3 classes? We are obviously reverting back to the Titanic times again. "Your papers, please!"
Trenitalia Frecciarossa has 4 classes
Hello, this is a wonderful video. Can you please tell me if is it okay to film trains at stations in Austria with a small camcorder? Do we need permission for that? Thank you so much.
I've never had a problem filming anywhere in Austria! 😀
@@NonstopEurotrip Superb thank you so much. ☺☺ Keep rocking!

I did several years ago and thought it was bogus that they charged an extra charge for riding first class on a first class Eurail pass
Did that train still have that new train smell?
Yes 😂
Are the Austrian trains also late, like German ?
Not as late 😆😂
When I took it, it was really late. I thought it will not come to pick up passengers. Price was very democratic and I was not in a hurry, so it was ok.
Please upload travel in Germany.
Is the last stop Salzburg
Munich now
when I was in Vienna, I used only this train, the questions remained, namely: TICKETS CAN ALSO BE BOUGHT ON the TRAIN OR NOT, I did not see an ANSWER in the plot and about the schedule-the station staff categorically refused to answer about the departure, they could only tell OBB, I came to Vienna and did not I know where and what you can watch.
I always buy in advance
They used to sell tickets on board because ÖBB didn't want to sell their tickets and they didn't have ticket counters nor machines, but I'm not so sure now.
Tickets can be bought on board from the attendants. There is a small surcharge though if I remember correctly.
If the ÖBB runs on a live with RJ Services. 7 Alltags Travemünde by RJ BC Services!
🤔🤔🤔
13:10 are you allowed to take a nap on the sofas, or is that frowned upon?
I honestly don't know 😅
Yes, definitely liked yet again. My “only” complaint - is there some way you can overcome the intrusive scrapy / crackly / hollow sound from your microphone ? I’m pretty certain Dylan & Superalbs don’t have the problem.
Honestly I don't know!
This is because they surely don't have the same camera mode. Dylan must have a newer camera as well as superalbs traverls. Here is. All.
Are Interrail and Eurail Passes accepted by Westbahn?
