Homestead Tech: How We Set Up a Milking Stanchion for Our Dairy Cow

Building our permaculture homestead in Ontario, the watchwords are “simple” and “effective,” and the milking stanchion for our one dairy cow is no exception. Here we show you the low-tech setup we’ve built to keep Gertrude confined and comfortably noshing on organic, non-GMO grain while we clean her teats and draw off her nutrient-rich milk.

Thanks for the information, we should have our first calf in April/May so I’ve been trying to learn and do my research before it comes time. What is your worming prep before calving to prevent any issues with raw milk?
