    I LOVE YOU!!! No coconut, no oats no nothing that my body dislikes! I can substitute the applesauce for sweet potato/pumpkin puree, or mashed bananas! Which applesauce do you use, and if you make it yourself, where can I get the recipe? Thanks!

    • @FeastingonFruit
      @FeastingonFruit  Před 6 lety +3

      Woohoo! I'm so happy to hear it. You could use pumpkin puree or mashed banana in place of the applesauce, although mashed banana may make them a bit less fluffy so pumpkin would be better. I don't recommend sweet potato, too thick/starchy. I buy my applesauce unsweetened, but you can make it yourself like this: www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2011/12/really-simple-applesauce-recipe.html

    These were very good. They do have a slight quinoa flavor, but the sweetness of the applesauce and maple syrup counteracts any bitterness in the flour (I used Bob's Red Mill).
    I found that by cooking mine a bit longer (4 min per side), I was able to flip them in my nonstick skillet without any oil or sticking. I cooled them on a cooling rack and just picked them up to eat them plain like bread. Very filling and delicious as a snack.

    • @FeastingonFruit
      @FeastingonFruit  Před 5 lety

      Thank you so much for sharing! I completely agree on the sweetness to counteract the quinoa taste, it does take a little getting used to. And the low/slow cooking method is always best for pancakes I find too😊

    The first time, it turned out perfect. But the second time it burned twice and was not cooked inside. I guess it is because I roasted the quinoa powder because you recommended to do it, and I added more applesauce than usual. Now I'll do it with only quinoa raw powder and less applesauce. Thanks!

    • @FeastingonFruit
      @FeastingonFruit  Před rokem +2

      I personally find that store-bought quinoa flour works best, but you can experiment with grinding your own raw. it also could have just been an issue of cooking on too high heat, low and slow is best here!

      The quinoa flour makes it much fluffier than oat, but AP should be pretty fluffy too. Although I cannot guarantee the amount will be the same, it may take less flour so I'd start with 1 cup and add more only if it seems too runny. The lemon juice + baking soda instead of baking powder helps with rise/fluff too. Good luck!
