  • hi friends, this is definitely more of a disorganized rant that briefly covers many pains i have with social media :P please share your own experiences and thoughts on this medium, i would love for us to have mini conversations about it! Next time I will choose to just focus on one topic... Thank you for tuning in :)

    I love that you used the phrase *especially Instagram*, which is legit facts!
    I have felt so rejuvenated ever since I left Instagram for good. Instagram was one of the most toxic experiences of my life. I'll admit, there were a few times I posted some stuff to try and impress some friends and get some attention from girls, until I realized that "this isn't me. Social media isn't going to get me anywhere in life." I felt that I put myself into a toxic culture. From that point, I wanted a change... a change away from social media. And man oh man, I never felt so alive since I left Instagram for good. I started to focus on myself more. My mental health. My physical health. My goals. My hobbies. All those things not only helped me avoid social media, but they also helped me spend less time on my phone. I can't be any more proud of myself right now

    *Social media is supposed to be fun? I didn’t know that. I thought it was just supposed to be about contacting people and keeping in touch with them. It’s never been fun for me - it’s an EXTREMELY stressful experience and like I said: I’ve been eager to annihilate people for the choices they make on social media.*

    Social media's affect on kid's and just people in general on their political views is scary. You're right it's tough for women as well on how it affects their decisions on how they project themselves physically, mentally and spiritually as well.

    hi a girl watching! also yeah i stopped using most social media almost 2 years ago (i use youtube and occasionally pinterest and reddit now). it was SO freeing lol and the crazy thing is that i didn’t even get on social media until i was ~16 and in the few years i was on it i became so dependent on it. and i didn’t know who i was and what i wanted bc i was so caught up in what i was seeing online.

    disorganized rant is my cup of tea... after trying it out for while, I realized there are some on social media that don't buy into the ads or influence and are stuck on there for the "social" aspect, like I am at times, and willingly put up with the bombardment of their attention economy. I think it's the feeling that we get to cast a voice even if it goes straight into the void or fire, depending how we feel about it, perhaps in hopes there'd be an echo to locate someone, somewhere, or something. Then I realized some take that experience to be true offline, perhaps being brought up these days where if you're not online you're a nobody and nobody wants that. You gotta be somebody, you gotta be a contender out here.. but that's another rant for another day. So yeah, basically it's a sea of folks out in these waters unbeknownst to them slowly but surely sinking into an endless vortex of social catch and release in real life too when they inadvertently begin navigating any remaining or new ships with a hijacked subconscious with truncated or bottled up expectations, like a faulty compass, and see where that leads them to, usually lacking the actual long term fulfillment from connections they're really after. There's a body of water, then there's water bottles of water and we wonder where all the fish are and why we're so thirsty. My current social media status exists online with chess to chess interactions somewhere between Good games and Good moves👍I think I'm secretly hoping for a Good checkmate with a heart at the end of it. Only time will tell, and if it goes anything like most my of my games, time keeps running out first.

    I 100% agree. I have been off for two months and don’t miss it. I was seeing this guy and he followed 80% women. Local and “influencers”. It made me SO insecure and I should’ve ended things before they started. I appreciate the men who don’t use it or barely get on. I’m happy to be a millennial if anything lol. Instagram is toxic and addicting.

    Twitter is the equivalent of a child pulling the wings off of a butterfly and getting upset when it can no longer fly. Instagram is basically a social credit system/ competition to see who life is better. I can’t even stomach Twitter. Especially what they did to Mr. Beast and the fact that Artist are reportedly getting bullied for their artwork on there.

    Well, one way or another, the new cool social media HAVE TO show advertisements to grow. Same with youtube, if no ads, no one would ever be a youtuber, the destiny of youtube, insta, twitter etc would've been the same as myspace and some other that no one even remeber now.

    • @AndiniMako
      @AndiniMako  Před rokem +2

      Yes, it's true they obviously need ads to survive, I just find the amount we consume daily is insane. I wish there was some way of limiting it completely, but I guess that's either a) paying for a subscription service b) ad blocker but it won't work for all platforms or b) just being off the internet

    • @cry2love
      @cry2love Před rokem

      @@AndiniMako Yeah, I think in school we need to have a subject like how to filter information, how to limit yourself, because this instant, radical shift from limited information to a humongous of freely distributed online into your pocket is crazy. For example I have my notifications OFF for every app on my phone, I open them only when I want to (excluding messaging contacts for people I talk to). Try that notifications off thing, when I first tried it, I remember the first day of a feeling of a freedom and a good night sleep.

    *I was in Puerto Rico last week visiting my family and partying with their friends and family and even though some of us got drunk, there was still respect amidst the alcohol. Social media “influencers” associate drinking (and even sobriety) with cantankerous conduct, abuse, infiltrations, violations, cheating, backstabbing, torture, and breaching of the peace. They upload that shit online and to the media and then try to make it look like it’s entertainment - when it isn’t.*

    *I’m tired of it!!! I was just partying with my brother (whom I hadn’t seen in 11 years) and he was acting in the same way a respectful drunk should act: he was being hilarious. He had his wife and kid around him and he didn’t cheat on her or take his clothes off and start messing around with other women. That’s what those social media “influencers” do. They’re foul and VAIN. There’s an appropriate way to party to the point that you aren’t bothering other people and give off this aura of “you’re missing out” or “you want this and you can’t have it”. I don’t know how to describe it, but that’s what social media “influencers” do: they give off this “you want this more than anything (even though you don’t) and you can’t have it and you’re below me” vibe!!! They think that it’s funny, but it’s nowhere even close to being funny because it literally just isn’t. You know when something literally isn’t funny because it isn’t funny? That’s just the way it is.*

    Anywho, I grew up in the 90-20s and went through dial up/msn to the growth of social media and I’m very fortunate to have had a childhood where you would meet up with friends and play. It’s pretty sad to think kids growing up and being influenced by what they see on a screen. It’s hard for everyone. It’s the sad truth.
    Have you seen the documentary The Social Dilemma? It’s pretty nuts.
