Best professional paintball game of 2015? World Cup Paintball Finals: Dynasty vs Houston Heat

Houston Heat handed San Diego Dynasty their only loss in the prelims of the 2015 NXL World Cup, but each team won out and would face each other again in the finals on Sunday afternoon to see who would emerge the winner. This one game would decide the professional paintball World Cup title.
Dynasty has been one of the best teams in the world for 15 years but have historically not done well at World Cup since the team joined the NXL professional division. The team has not won a professional World Cup since a controversial 10-man final all the way back in 2001. Oliver Lang would rejoin Dynasty to play with the team for the first time all year, but would his presence on and off the field be the difference the team needed to win their event of the year?
Conversely, the Russian players on Houston Heat are World Cup finals veterans with Konstantin Fedorov having played in an astounding 10 World Cup finals. They looked nearly unbeatable in their first match against Dynasty and have shown an astounding ability to play slow and fast layouts all year long.
Over the course of the weekend, this layout had been playing slower and slower due to a strong pocket, 7 back line bunkers and vicious bounce shots. This final game could have been some of the slowest and most cautious paintball of the year. However, the finals would instead produce some of the most amazing paintball ever with an unlikely hero emerging from one of the most exciting points ever played.

if paintball wants to get to the same level of all the major sports( at least in the U.S) and internationally. IT needs to find pin point venues that will directly draw fans from all across the globe. think BIG. charge for entrance fees to watch games in an arena like for EX. the barclays in bkNY, the staples center in LA. for ex. i understand the politics and financial backing is a factor but, our paintball UNION needs a presentation to bid for our beloved sport. Not only for it to be broadcasted on an international stage, but, to also introduce the the sport world, on a main stage like the nba and the nfl .For EX. the culture of battle rap has already created an opportunity for a ppv system where fans can watch events. HELLO, lets progress an start moving forward. Its, paintballs biggest way to survive

I am honestly in shock at how small of an audience this event has. wtf man I would have thought there would ha e been wayyyyy more people at an event of this caliber. damn man mybe paintball will never reach the potential it has as a mainstream sport

If they want the sport to grow, they're going to have to do better than a webcast that requires a monthly subscription. Unfortunately I don't think the NXL cares to grow the sport

+800lb Gorilla They actually played a limited paint version first. Players were limited to two or three tubes in the various rounds. Funny enough, the same team won BOTH the limited paint and unlimited paint events.

I think it would have been cool to show each team in the pits before the game started or show their huddles at the starting box before the first point.
You would here a lot of cursing from anger or a team pump up and also game planning. The cursing alone would not be very good publicity.
Are there any Paintball pro deals in the woods? When I used to play as a kid, that's where we played (paid courses and our own alike) and it was so much fun.

@thomas Higgins even if that bunker spray was spika getting hit by chad George. George was already out. Spika never has time to wipe and his arm is clean seconds later. Amazing play by Spika.

Jump Toby I tried both. And i think Paintball is much more like spray and pray. At airsoft you can hit what you aim at. One of my favorit airsoft youtubers is novritsch, check him out. He is mostly sniper tho. But if you got a hardball place near you, some places rent weapons. I think you have to try it yourself :)

I would pay for an audio-only version of the webcast, for when I'm at work and can't watch video but can listen to the game. I've already suggested to my local sports talk radio station to do a weekly paintball segment. They did a public audition a while back for a new host for a weekly program, I believe if Matty Marshall or Todd Martinez were in the crowd, they would have trounced all the amateurs auditioning and started something awesome for paintball as far as the public eye goes.
+Evan1151 That's actually something I've talked to Matty about before. I listen to it as well when it is live because I often can't devote the time to watch. They are so good it makes just listening almost as fun.
+PbNation Paintball i agree, they're very good at what they do, and i could listen to games all day. I think it's important for them to pass on what they know and train a new generation of announcers with their knowledge of the game as the sport grows, so that there's less pressure on them in the long run. In any case, i've shared this video on WFAN NY's facebook page and tagged them in a post. If even one new sports fan follows paintball i'll be happy.

how does matty marshall say this is the comp to determine the best paintball team in the world when this is only a statewide comp. There are many other very competitive teams around the world. If there was a real international competition that would be very interesting to watch.Great match all the same.

They should use impact monitors so you don't have stupid refs getting in the way playing laundry checker in every match.
+TraumaER They can't because a paintball could hit you, triggering the monitor, but if it doesn't actually break, you'd still be in.
+TraumaER there is no way to cover every inch of them with "impact monitors". plus they'd probably go off every time you crouched or slid into a bunker

#1 They aren't trying to "simulate the real thing" while shooting around BALLOONS.
#2 Impact monitors would trigger even if the paintball didn't break, but it would also trigger every time the player slid, or literately did anything.
#3 The refs on the field IS stupid and there should be a better system
#4 *There should be something in the paint "UV paint or something special" where the ref can simply wear some goggles / glasses and a light to see all the paint really easily from far away, or let the cameras do it. I don't know what it's called, but there are even types of glasses which can make certain types of paint glow, which can't be seen with the human eye, but it's not UV.*

When the video description says Dynasty hasnt won a pro World Cup since 2001, is it not counting the 2004 win against the Russians because it was more of an "open" division and all the NXL teams were still stuck in their division?

I played paint ball, sitting behind a wall like this is the only strategies available when people have unlimited amo and such an open ground. They should use more realistic map so we can see different strategies.
+asdf16612 I have to admit though, Heat had the worst tactic of all time, stay in the VERY BACK, double bunkers and spam fire downrange. That's why as soon as Dynasty started rushing forwards and closing in from different angles & depths, they lost in a blowout 0/5 every time. I think that once you hit WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, the map should take up the entire field, and should have multiple barricades, flanking options, and routes to go down for true strategy, not just placing a bunch of single objects evenly throughout an open field.

I've been out of the sport for a while, And i'm bummed to see it come with commentators now. I imagine I'm an outlier, but Commentators absolutely ruin sports with their inane chatter as far as I'm concerned.
I honestly think the commentators talk FAR too much. I'd love to hear more of the action and more of the teams calling out positions and shit. You need to have the commentators but just take it back a notch for the love of God and stop cramming the entirety of Moby Dick into one minute of space.

Some shots, most are with someone holding a camera or with a camera on a pole so they can get it high up

you need to play speedball to really understand it. but the sensation shooting a lot of paint. trying to make lines on the break. runing. sliding snapshooting. etc. its awesome. no other sport can give you that awesome adrenaline. you should try it!!.
