Welcome to the best, in my opinion, acapella group out there, although Pentatonix and Voiceplay are also fantastic. Home Free is the only Country all vocal band, they have a wide variety of covers and original material that covers all genres. All sounds are created by voices and they have a "freak of nature" vocal percussionist. The harmonies are unmatched...welcome to the rabbit hole. Austin Brown is the high tenor, Rob Lundquist is a lyrical tenor, Adam Chance is the baritone/bass and was making the mouth harp sound, Tim Foust is the bass with a 5+ octave range and Adam Rupp is the beatboxer legend. In older videos there is Chris Rupp who co-founded the group with his brother Adam. They also won the 4th season of "The Sing Off". All individuals are extremely talented individually and have their own projects...but together it is magic, and they sound the same, if not better, live. Subscribed to follow you on this journey.

CZcams was made for Home Free and they have made great use of this platform. Acapella music doesn’t have much of a presence on the AM/FM dial especially the modern genres. Originally HF was started by beatboxed Adam Rupp and his brother Chris. Chris left to do solo work and was replaced by another Adam who goes by his last name Chance differentiating from beatboxer Adam. In the Butts remix you will see Chris wearing a black western style hat. You will also hear the whistling talent of lead tenor Robb. I’m looking forward to seeing your reaction to the Butts. 😂ps: the two previous commenters were just wrong.

Their renditions of When A Man Loves A Woman (Percy Sledge/Michael Bolton), Listen To The Music (The Doobie Brothers), and Working For A Living (Huey Lewis and the News) show their R&B and rock n roll chops. Their covers of 2 Johnny Cash songs, Folsom Prison Blues and Ring Of Fire (feat. Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix), are also worth a listen. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. They are known for their tight harmonies. Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers out there (5 octave range) & their beatboxer vocal percussionist Adam Rupp can simulate any sound (drums, harmonica etc.). Your reaction to this was great, and I hope to see you following HF for a long time to come. FYI: Adam Rupp is the unbelievably good beatboxer. Austin Brown is the tenor who had most of the lead; Tim Foust is the bass that has a 5+ octave range. Rob Lunquist is the other tenor lead, and Adam Chance (called "Chance") was baritone and the jaw harp "synthesizer".

The bass, has a 5 octave range so he can sing super low and then sing up with the tenors. They sing a lot of covers but also write and sing their own music. They filmed this in coastal Alabama, much of which is bayou like the southern part of Louisiana. It started raining during the filming, but they had to get it done, so they kept going - you can see them getting wetter, and occasionally you can see the drips of rain.
Everything was produced vocally, including the vinyl record popping at the very beginning. The droning sound was an imitation of a jaw harp (known by various names), which the lady on the right mimed effectively. Chance (dark vest here) does this by Mongolian throat singing, but they use a looper as it is hard on his throat to keep doing it. The rhythmic dop-dops are done by Rob, in the overalls, also extended by using a looper, as it would prevent him from doing his other parts. The looper is also used for the beatbox percussion while Adam Rupp (no beard) does his 'nomonica' solo.

Wonderful introduction to your channel for me. Home Free definitely harkens back to the country gospel quartets of decades past. In fact, their mentors are the Oak Ridge Boys whose current lineup has been together for almost 5 decades and are STILL touring. The Oak Ridge Boys, themselves, began as a gospel quartet back in the 1940. The current lineup came together in the mid 1970s. Home Free did a collaboration with them on a cover of the Oaks' biggest hit "Elvira". Two powerful vocal groups blend seamlessly while showing off the talents of the individuals in each group. Well worth the reaction/podcast time.

Subbed for more Home Free! If you decide to go down the rabbit hole into which all of us Home Fries have fallen, we will flock to your channel. Man Of Constant Sorrow was also my introduction to these amazing guys and I have been hooked since. I've seen them live three times, was impressed the first time and am more impressed each time thereafter.
I sub to a lot of reactors to HF but there are a select few whose new releases I look forward to. I have a feeling that you three will be joining that list. I really like your style/interaction with each other as well as with the audience. Keep em coming!! Can't wait for the next one!
As for suggestions, I have browsed the comments to now and there are several good ones listed.
I think for a proper introduction to Austin (high tenor) you might consider When A Man Loves A Woman.
For the beatboxer, Adam Rupp, he has several "drum solos" which are phone recordings of live performances so not the best sound quality but my goodness he is amazing and it's well worth checking those out! He always does amazing work in each song, but some songs others have mentioned are Listen To The Music, Elvira... I could list every single song they do to recommend him lol!
For Rob (big beard) I'd suggest End Of The Road but I'm sure other HF's will remind me of other songs where he is featured and does a remarkable job.
For Chance (jaw harp in Man of Constant Sorrow) maybe Cover Me Up or Some Girls Do. He has such a good baritone voice!
For Tim (bass) - wow. So many. He is just an amazing talent. For a constant low melody, Brothers In Arms. But over half of their songs contain at least a note or two of his fire breathing, subwoofer busting explosion. Edit: Side note - in earlier videos (like this one) he has longer hair. He cut his hair during covid so sometimes reactors are confused when they see one or two of their older videos, then see a newer one. The hair cut really changed his appearance but it's still Tim! You might also check out his collaboration with Peter Hollens of Misty Mountains. Listen all the way to the last note...
Just one word of advice - save Mayday for some day a bit the road - after you've gotten to know everyone's "normal" role in the group.
I gotta stop now or i'll write a book and get kicked off. Enjoy, and thanks so much for this reaction!

The beat-boxer is Adam Rupp (MN) (one of the original members of Home Free has won several Beat-Boxer competitions. Rob Lundquist (MN) is a tenor and wears glasses with the great beard. Tim Foust is the bass - yet has a 5 octave range (TX), Austin Brown (GA) is the other tenor - wow what a range. Tim Foust (dragon breath) the Bass has a 5 octave range, which will blow your mind. Adam Rupp (freak of nature) is the founding member, along with his brother Chris Rupp, who left in 2014 (?) and found his replacement with Adam Chance (who goes by Chance). He is a beautiful baritone and does bass when Tim is flexing his higher ranges. Austin Brown the high tenor has no limit to how high he can sing and loves to smile, flash those eyes and yes, wink at the ladies. Rob Lunquist (the Beard), tenor can whistle better than anyone ive ever heard and can add soul to any song. They won season 9 of the Sing Off, the year after Pentatonix won. I've barley scratched the surface of their make up ( i only found them in May of 2021), so please dive in and experience these wonderful down to earth gentleman, for yourselves. Any song you pick is a winner. Just hold off on Mayday till You've got a bit of their music under your belt.😁💕 ENJOY!

New subscriber. Great reaction, too! I love it when people discover Home Free. They are a freakishly talented group of fellas! They can make you laugh sometimes, they can make you cry sometimes but they always impress. Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and the awesome beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Rob Lundquist (glasses and beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, American Pie featuring Don McLean, I Swear, Blue Ain't Your Color, Dive Bar Saints, The Driver, Crazy and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone and their newest releases, Ray Stevens' Mississippi Squirrel Revival, Delta Dawn, Give Me A Sign. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. They have recently released several new songs that you will want to check out. Unchained Melody, Listen to the Music, Brother...the list goes on. To switch it up..try Two Country Singers try singing Opera. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!

Welcome to the rabbit hole….it’s wide, deep and so varied! They cover so many genres across the board, they are not strictly country. Tighten your seatbelts, hold on tight and enjoy the adventure!

You will have a good time exploring Home Free. They won "The Sing Off" back in 2013 the season after Pentatonix won the same competition.
They are known as the world's first (and maybe only) country vocal band but, they can sing any genre from opera to classic rock.
You will get a lot of views too. The "Home Fries" are pretty steadfast in their support of the band.
Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. It is likely to lead you to a number of a capella performers as well (Peter Hollens, The Hound and the Fox, Voiceplay, etc).
P.S: If The Butts medley/remix was suggested, that arrangement is ridiculous.

Great reaction, thanks! Home Free is my absolutely favorite group by a mile; you will discover why if you choose to dig into more of their music. Their amazing harmonies, song choices and personalities are the best! You have received many great suggestions below for additional songs to react to. Since you love pure acapella, a few songs which have particularly stunning 5 part harmony, no beatboxing (Adam Rupp the beatboxer also sings, he has a beautiful voice) a few I would suggest are Helplessly Hoping, Brothers In Arms, How Great Thou Art and Auld Lang Syne. For really good harmony I would suggest Helplessly Hoping and/or Seven Bridges Road. The more you listen to Home Free, the more you will find they will leave a smile on your face. They do perform some more serious pieces as well. They are very serious about their craft but don't take themselves too seriously and are awsome to see live.

There are several great acapella groups out thee, next you might want to check out Pentatonix, 3 Grammy Awards, over 5 billion views and won The Sing Off the season before Home Free won the same show. And as to Man of Constant Sorrows, there is a reference By Alexander Graham Bell of recording the folk song in 1880s to 1890s. written records date back to 1795 so it is an OLD folk song. Still Home Free does it some real justice. Now go forth and enjoy and share all the great music from Home Free, Pentatonix, VoicePlay, Voxtive, and the rest.

Some people say it sounds like a mouth harp or didgeridoo. The guy in the back beside the beatboxer did that sound going in and out of the video. The high lead 1 tenor is Austin, the lower tenor (glasses)was Rob, the baritone and guy who also made that sound is Chance, Adam is the beatboxer and Tim is the superbass guy (but he can sing higher as well because he has a 5-octave range)

Subbing for more Home Free. It looks like everyone has given y'all most of info on HF. But, to reiterate, wait until y'all know each member's vocal role before reacting to Mayday. How Great Thou Art is one of the very few that Adam Rupp (beat boxer extraordinaire) has a solo part; usually he just beat boxes or occasionally sings tenor harmony. (It's a fantastic version, anyway, and highly recommended.) And Tim Foust... Brothers In Arms, if you really want to hear bass! (On Peter Hollens' channel, Tim & Peter sing Misty Mountains from The Hobbit. That'll rattle your bones!) Even though it's not Christmas, Do You Hear What I Hear is a must; the arrangement is indescribable!

You were asking about relations. The original group that won first place on the show "the SingOff" had Chris Rupp, brother to vocal percussionist Adam Rupp. He left the group to work with his sister and explore some solo stuff. But he stays in contact with them and still does some of their arrangements. He was replaced with Adam Chance who is the groups current baritone. The bass that made all three of your jaws drop was the extraordinary Tim Foust. There is no other way to say it, he is a vocal beast. He is also a pretty good song writer. Should you venture further down the rabbit hole you will come across several written by him or their high tenor Austin Brown. And the bearded wonder, teddy bear of a man Rob Lundquist will surprise you in his leads of several different songs. All in all, welcome to the Home Fries version of the a Capella train.

Welcome to Home Free, acapella at its best!! Their covers are all upgrades, their medleys are so smooth, they collaborate with the original artists a lot,, and their original songs are fantastic. This 5 man vocal band you have 5 tenors, 5 beat boxers, and 2 bass-baritones. They can do just about anything they want with their style, and yet they all are very humble.( Rob and Austin sang an Opera song together, very cool.) When they have featured guest artist, they allow their featured artists to be free with there vocals. Several of them have their own channels and do solo work and albums.. As a “Home Fry”, very proud of there work. There work is so amazing. You need to listen to : When a man loves a woman” feat. Austin Brown as the lead. Give you a good idea of his vocal range. Also Tim Foust the bass singer does his own album’s ,you need to hear: “ Will you still love me/stay” This will blow your mind……..really. Have fun…..!!!!!!!!

Yes, these guys are the best acapella group out there. If you find yourselves loving acapella then the next group I strongly recommend is Voice Play. Geoff Castellucci is another fantastic bass singer. I particularly love Voice Play's version of Oogie Boogie. This one really showcases Geoff's range. That said, ALL the guys in Home Free have wonderful voices. A truly fun song is Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget. Ring of Fire is great because they feature Avi Kaplan from Pentatonix (my third fav on the acapella road trip) and he and Tim hit some truly low notes. Enjoy the rabbit hole! ...it's called a jaw harp. No, none of the members are related. The beatboxer's brother used to be part of the group, but he left several years ago.
