    In 2001, my colleagues Andrew Lange, Jamie Bock, and William Holzapfel came up with a proposal for what would later be called BICEP. BICEP is an international collaboration that uses telescopes at the South Pole to look for signs of what happened moments after the Big Bang. In this video, I tell you everything you need to know about the program, the progress they've made, and what's next!

      With all of the up coming stuff you are to cover, I need to get another freezer for the basement to keep the ice in I will need to keep my brains cool while watching!😜
      As for the whole "all possible universes can and therefore do exist" notion, that still hinges on logical reasoning lacking in solid premises, so presuppositions, and therefore cannot be claimed a truth as much as a possibility, which says little about probability in not only a mathematical, but in a within whatever all governs it way, which most likely will also have principles and laws we are yet unfamiliar with... So I am not holding on to any conclusions as of yet, and just staying tuned where the evidence is pointing and luring science to follow. I'm glad to have you and other great science communicators as a guide!🥰🥳👍👍👍

    QSSC theory has explained CMB using dust thermalization then how BICEP can help to differentiate between inflationary cosmology vs QSSC

  • @RWin-fp5jn
    @RWin-fp5jn Před měsícem +3

    BICEP may be nice. But even more important are the recent discoveries (WMAP and Planck satellite) of the CMB quadropole and octopole alignment with the axis of our solar system (i.e our Sun's axis) ad the motion of our galaxy inside the cosmos. This suggest what I suspect all along; that the CMB distribution of r360 degrees radiation energy is NOT an extra galactic source (e.g. our big bang) but simply the result of the charge density inside our galactic plane itself and our solar system motion through it, as well. It is a form of Cherenkov radiation, courtesy of extra galactic charged particles entering our galaxy as well as the transition of intergalactic radiation entering the boundries of our solar system. It has most likely nothing to do with any big bang, eventhough the oscillating universe is of course still the correct cosmogenesis narrative. CMB however is not related to our cosmic birth. Lets just move on from this flawed assumption....

    'As above so below'. While impetus may have something to do with what we can see (meaning the observer may have some range of determination) i think it probably works in a fashion we wouldnt be unfamiliar with. It depends upon whos in charge and what they have need for. 'Principalities and powers'. There are those who come before us and you cant make presumptions regarding things that are not yours based on rules we would have little knowing of

    In an infinite multiverse, everything that can happen, happens infinite times. There isn't just an exact duplicate of this universe bubble somewhere, there are infinite copies of every possible universe.

  • @PhysicsNative
    @PhysicsNative Před měsícem +1

    Thanks Brian. As you noted there are bouncing cosmology models that replace inflation. The tensor-scalar ratio may not be a definitive differentiator between inflation and bounce models, given that bounce models can enhance the scalar modes post bounce. Also, isn’t the tensor scalar ratio somewhat deceptive since lensing effects can contaminate the amplitude? I know you don’t post many technical talks, but would like to see one on primordial BB, expected signatures from inflation and bounce models.

    I would love a video explaining what the CMB picture actually is visualizing. Why is it egg shaped? Is it the same image if taken from north and South Pole some how or a compilation of space all around us etc

    • @danatowne5498
      @danatowne5498 Před měsícem +1

      The "egg shape" I can answer. It's data taken from all around us, then flattened to look at. Like a map of a globe is also egg shaped. There is more to it, of course but that's a short answer. Hope it helps. :)

  • @Nogill0
    @Nogill0 Před měsícem +11

    The idea that everything that can happen does happen strikes me as an attractive simplification: we no longer have to ask, why this rather than that? Instead, we've got "this" over here and "that" over there, and what you see is dependent on where in the multiverse you are, and among all observers in every branch of the multiverse, everything that can be observed is observed. Neat!

    • @JohnDoe-jw7cj
      @JohnDoe-jw7cj Před měsícem +1

      Everything that can happen, happens regardeless if there is a multiverse or not... It's not because there are infinite possibilities, but rather because there is only one possibility, that possibility is reality.

    • @Nogill0
      @Nogill0 Před měsícem +1

      @@JohnDoe-jw7cj Sooo-- why is there only one possibility? Why this reality rather than another one? Is it really obvious that there are no, and never were, any alternatives? That strikes me as a rather difficult question.

    • @Jm-wt1fs
      @Jm-wt1fs Před měsícem

      @@Nogill0it’s honestly a nonsensical question. If there’s an infinite multiverse, why that instead of just one universe or a different infinite multiverse? At the end of the day, reality is what it is bc that’s just how it is. It doesn’t need to have a reason, it’s just what exists. There is a point where explanations become meaningless, bc there has to be a base reality to reference with your explanation.

    • @JohnDoe-jw7cj
      @JohnDoe-jw7cj Před měsícem

      @@Nogill0 There are alternatives in our theoretical models of reality, not in reality itself.
      Possibilities exist only because of the holes in our knowledge and understanding.
      Suppose we somehow prove the multiverse, then the question "why isn't it only one universe instead" is answered by the theory that predicts the multiverse.

    • @Nogill0
      @Nogill0 Před měsícem

      @@Jm-wt1fs I think the issue resolves into that of no boundaries vs boundaries. If we say in any sense that the universe has a boundary of any sort-- then it seems natural to ask what is beyond the boundary. A finite universe or an infinite universe? Do we have a crystal shell or a tricky geometry? No boundaries is just easer to deal with, for me at least. There ARE physicists who make a good case for a multiverse. An infinite universe already gives you one form of multiverse.
