The Master convincing the Doctor to be the Doctor is actually on point.
Maybe he was actually supporting the doctor 😮
That guy playing the director is truly Masterful...
Pipo Productions or did you meant MASTERful
Get out🤣
O 😮
Danny Chesney ...
@Danny Chesney why?
And he never knew.....
The Master created Doctor Who.
IRK!! That's what I was thinking. I just rewatched the clip and I chocked on my tea when I saw the master.
A good villain is nothing without the hero. His existence depends on it 😆
Matt Horn what ?
Matt Horn Wait is he the Master of 13.doctor?
@@alpborakirte801 yes, it's the same actor
David Bradley was absolutely perfect as William Hartnell.
so much that i hope he will make an appearance as the first doctor in the show some time...
wouldn't that be wonderful? :)
Oh I so hope that will happen
Loopy Land And far more deliciously evil as Game of Throne's Walder Frey... :D
and flinch from harry potter!
Loopy Land I loved him as william hartnell and I loved the idea of the whole drama
Its insane that all three actors in this scene were actually in the show as well.
When was she in the show?
@@jessicaable5095 She was in the season 7 episode 'Hide'. She played the psychic.
@@adwitiyamishra4325 OHH right
"Welcome to the BBC. We have twelve actors, six sets and one tie."
When was he in the show?
I love how he went from playing William Hartnell to playing the first doctor canonically in the newer episodes
The real first encounter between the Doctor and the Master since Gallifrey.
"Are you the director, son?"
"Yes, but you can call me Master."
"C.S. Lewis meets H.G. Wells meets Father Christmas."
I love that description of The Doctor. It's very spot on. At least for Hartnell's Doctor. And maybe Capaldi's?
Ironically this Christmas special will be about Father Christmas.
Maybe So!
Sean Kelly Or at least, what we know as Father Christmas. He could be an alien, perhaps a Timelord even. If it actually presents the santa mythos of visiting every house on the globe on christmas night, he's need a way to alter time yes?
My guess is that he's an alien using time lord technology.
Sean Kelly Or, as the Doctor knows him, Jeff.
i love how good Doctor Who is at picking modern actors to portray older actors. Not just in this, but in Doctor Who itself, like in Vincent and the Doctor, the guy they chose for Vincent Van Gogh was just perfect.
Karli fr mayb thats why we wait so long between episodes they be beating and working til its perfect lol i mean the list goes on hitler rosa parks presdents etc snd not one doctor actor was trash Even jodi is awesome Granted her script isn’t prime writing she betrays the doctor well and anyone who doesn’t think so hasn’t been paying attention
@@NinJa-lr9of I think you haven't been paying attention, don't make excuses for her you're better than that whoever you are. And yes she does "betray" the Doctor, with all her heart.
@@NinJa-lr9of hitler was a footnote in a mediocre and boring series arc episode, and don't lump in "Rosa" with the timeless "Vincent and the Doctor" Vincent and Smith and Doctor Who on the whole deserve better than that.
Alex Saunders obviously she’s not the best doctor but she isn’t all that bad lmao yal just hatin
Zach DP “obviously she’s not the best doctor” and no one would even blink at that statement because of how obvious it is, you won’t get that for any other doctor except John hurt maybe. But “she’s not that bad”. She isn’t even a Doctor, she has no dimensions and her actor is the first actor in the part to just be a divisive arsehole to fans in interviews and on tv and anywhere while she’s still pretending to be the incumbent doctor!
Yeah “we hating” because she has come in here, taken something beautiful helped to destroy it and been the face of that destruction, she clearly hates anyone who has a problem with that and I’m supposed to be happy for her that she got to meet Coldplay (who to her are like the Doctors to me and you I’d imagine) and release a cover of her favourite song of theirs - and I’m supposed to feel sorry for her that her confidence was knocked a bit when she heard some fans complained she was too silly? Instead of pissed that’s all she’s heard about her performance? She doesn’t care about Doctor Who only her soapbox - if there was nothing you found good in 54 years of the show until 2017 then it probably isn’t for you! Don’t make it something it’s not. And listen to Barbara Broccoli.
"You may be a Doctor... but I am thee Doctor... The original you might say."

David Bradley should make an appearance as The 1st Doctor in the new series. He pulled off William Hartnell so brilliantly.
Yes! And Sean Pertwee (Jon Pertwee's son) should play the Third Doctor.
*"One day I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back..."*
Daniel Williamson
WISH GRANTED
Zanderfist DO IT
They actually recast the character for the Five Doctors anniversary. At this point there is no reason they can't do it a third time and have the Doctor return again.
Verity: "Looks like a senile old man"
Bill: (to self) Well, gee, thanks.
That was probably a snarky take that for the 'barely out of the cradle' line Bill remarked earlier.
Billy was 55 at that point - two years older than Daniel Craig is now, for example. But Billy didn't want to be James Bond. For reasons only known to himself, he wanted to be 'an old man' - onscreen and off. So that's the way he portrayed himself - onscreen and off.
@@peterowen9183 55 was also seen as old then. I saw a Jon Pertwee interview from 1989 where he says he's 70, and the reaction from the crowd - sheer amazement - was like when people say they're 90 now. Terry Wogan was amazed at Jon's healthy appearance. Now, 55 isn't seen as old at all, and as for 70, my girlfriend's dad is 71 and still working!
@@peterowen9183 Now I'm imagining an alternate timeline where William Hartnell played Bond.
The fact that both the Doctor and the Master are both there is amazing.

The QUALITIES of a TRUE actor.
It's like David Bradley is his reincarnation

"Doctor who? Hmm?" Awesome line. If only Bill Hartnell had lived he'd probably love how far the show has come. But He would've been extremely old. God rest his soul. Awesome actor, brilliant Doctor.
Stefano Pavone also Doctor Who gave a lot of new attention for old Bill. He was getting so much love from both kids and adults that he really loved working on the show and it giving him more love than his other materials which have him playing some hard ass old codger, he really loved the show and how it practically gave his career another boom. At least according to this one documentary i saw
I'm not sure. Nicholas Courtney (Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart) thought the new run is too fast, too rushed.
Stefano Pavone here’s an idea to bring back you know who time travel? I am the first human doctor who 1.5 he will be so surprised when the Tardis will come to pick him up.
Sketch Maniac my dear friend l wanted to be doctor who all of my life?
I actually met David Bradley in LA while waiting in the BA lounge for our flight back to Heathrow. I was coming back of holiday and he had just finished San Diego Comicon. Anyway hes a really nice guy and we spoke about all the various things hes done, and he briefly mentioned that had been (or would be, cant remember), working on a scifi project. I had no idea it would turn out to be doctor who at the time!
Charlie Gould cool
After watching this scene I like to imagine that in a certain amount of years, there'll be another anniversary of the show and the BBC will make something similar to this but focusing on Davies' revival of the show.
A scene where Russell T. Davies and the director for the first season sit down with Christopher Eccleston and he convinces them to cast him as The Doctor.
Then the two scenes would contrast each other. Fantastic.
Zanderfist
Then in the next anniversary they can show how Moffat ran the whole operation into ruins with a recruiting scene for Jenna Coleman.
That's the crying moment for all.
It's not Jenna's fault, she was great in her first 2 episodes, the Dalek one and the Christmas one
Who would play Eccleston?
Someone who hasn't been born yet probably.
No one ever after watching season/series 12 is ever going to be able to unsee that as the master convincing the original doctor to play the doctor 😂
CS Lewis meets HG Wells meets Father Christmas. A description that still holds up today regardless of the regeneration
The master traveled back to make sure his documentary of his childhood friend gets started in a alternate universe
Headcanon excepted
Oh frick he's playing the Master now
It's impossible to think this great show had such humble beginnings.
The Master casting the Doctor? Oh dear I've gone cross eyed!
William Hartnell is pretty much every non-whovian hearing about the Whoniverse for the first time.
1:27-1:36 And who would have thought that an ordinary 20th century object would become a cultural icon? And David Bradley was brilliant as William Hartnell.
Once again, as it's the 23rd November, # Happy birthday to Who, happy birthday to Who, happy birthday dear Doctor, happy birthday to Who #.
Andrew Chapman I think the Beeb should do new (either wholecloth scripts or adapted from the EU) First Doctor stories with David playing the First Doctor. They also could restore old stories that have been lost with David and other actors to replace the original companion actors. I think people would watch those if done right simply because it would help people not familiar with the franchise in general WHY it's lasted 50+ years and counting.
Gordon Taylor That sounds like a great idea of them restoring the lost stories. But the thing is what if later on after they had done that, someone eventually manages to recover some of the actual missing episodes?
See... I "would" agree with you... if I didnt know for a fact that New-Who and modern TV in general would superimpose wailing music and dramatic long emo stares at the camera while talking like first semester philosophy students pretending its "meaningful" ...
In other words...
Do not touch the old episodes ever!
After all we dont go back and "touch up" the Mona Lisa for modern audiences... maybe draw some new make up? Different hair style? Also the whole renaissance clothing is way out of date and not "hip" anymore... Maybe something from Lady Gagas collection? Oh! AND she should be drawn as if she was taking a "selfie"... yeah! Lets do that...! Right? Right?... no?
George Lucas should never have redone Star Wars and equally nobody should redo classic who.
+Daelyas Well, the Fourth Doctor already dealt with the Mona Lisa by writing "THIS IS A FAKE" on the back with a felt tip pen.
Oh what a Masterful director he is.
Doctor Who be like: We pay an actor to act as an actor to act as as a character.
God I love David Bradley. What a legend of the industry. You can just imagine him having a run as the Doctor.
It 'adapts' to suit it's environment.....
only if the 'Chameleon' circuit isn't broke.. =))
I think the TARDIS does not want to be anything else. The whole theme is the Doctor being the policeman of the universe, dropping in when he is most needed and stopping everything falling apart. So the TARDIS (which can change shape, the TARDIS is always changing shape subtly within the basic police box paradigm, changing color slightly, the font and the color scheme of the signs, the shape of the lamp and the presence of the St Johns Ambulance logo, as well as the height) stays the police box shape in order to remind him of who and what he is: A policeman, forever out of place wherever he is.
dangerouslytalented the chameleon circuit is definitely broke, but i agree that neither the doctor nor the tardis would likely want it to change now
At times the Tardis will control the Doctors actions but it also follows commands =))
GINGERJMEZ
If it was broken, the TARDIS would never change shape, size or color. But it does. The different Doctors' TARDISes are different heights, widths, shades of blue, the colors of the signs are different, along with the typefaces and also the patterns of the windows and the shape of the lamp on top.
GINGERJMEZ apparantly it was fixed at some point but the doctor didnt want to change the shape because he liked the police box look
0:31 The Theme Song starts to play
1:43 title sequence starts
2:06 First Time hearing the tardis takeoff fanmade
2:30 Theme Song starts to play again
2:42 And Now it begins
I love the "but with a twinkle" line. It's just perfect!

HOLY SH*T, the master made doctor who
I was in tears at this scene. Just a wonderful way to tell the story of the show we love.
It’s such a lovely story, I’ve watched it a few times. It’s not sappy or overly sad. It’s a fun, nice telling of the scrappy origins of a scrappy juggernaut.
I loved this so much. Always makes me cry. Especially when he meets the future Doctor in the shape of Matt Smith.
"stern and scary! ... but with a twinkle"
One of the first companions, Ian Chesterton was played by actor William Russell whom I recently discovered was born in my city, Sunderland.
He's 95 years old now. I was thrilled to meet him at a convention a couple of years ago.
This is beautiful!
Bit ironic that Sacha Dhawan would then go on to be the new master
That look he does after saying ‘Doctor.... who?’ Gets me every time
It is odd that William Hartnell's doctor is remembered as an old man. He took the part of The Doctor when he was only 55. Sometimes I think that when people remember the first Doctor they're confusing Hartnell with Richard Hurndall, the actor who replaced him in The Five Doctors twentieth anniversary special. He sadly died shortly after filming.
People looked older back then.
I mean, have you watched the first doctor serials? He certainly acted the character as a very old man. If anything, they're getting the actor confused with his own character. And despite him only being 55 he looked older than he was and had a lot of trouble remembering his lines. He died only a few years after leaving the show
This just popped up in my feed. Adorable!
He loved his lapels, could not keep his hands off the lapels,
It all started out as a wild idea, an idea that pretty much no one in the studio believed in, only to turn into an icon. But when 1989 rolled a long, they believed it had it's run, so they planned to cancel it. It was gone for a while, returning in the mid 90's as a tv film. But then...one day back in 2005, the BBC aired, "Rose". Introducing a brand new generation to the man in the box, bringing it back for those who grew up with it before. It started off as a crazy idea, now it's one of the most influential and popular science fiction series known. That's Doctor Who, a show that like much like it's police box, is bigger, better, a d has much more potential on the inside.
Man, the Master really did play the long game
Love to see the program in full again.
If that was how it really happened, that's amazing. None of them had any idea how big of an icon Doctor Who would eventually become.
2:43 I get chills every time she describes the doctor. Brilliant.

Call me awkward, but that shot of her playing the original Doctor Who theme brought me to tears.
And it’s quite symbolic because truly, this is the moment. This is where the Doctor would be given life. This here is it.
_”The Birth of the Doctor”_
Guess who's the new master....
David Bradley playing William Hartnell whose about to play the First Doctor...
Acting inception right there
Was that really true? Did they intend William Hartnell's face to be in it but took it down because it looked terrifying?
Only ask because of what they did later on with Patrick Troughton's face appearing in his titles.
Yep, it is true. ^^
I imagine with the budgets getting better, since the show was gaining popularity, they could probably afford to super impose him over them. They were on a shoe string budget in the hartnell years.
yes it is true
In the starting the Doctor was a bit cynical. They wanted him to be a person of authority and thus named him the Doctor.
Yep, and the titles they showed were the real test sequence from 1963.
The master and the doctor have been friends since the beginning
I love his eyes at the end! ;__;
+bariziem Very Hartnell-y eyes.
If we all think about this narratively, this is the very first time the Doctor and the Master met each other
This looks amazing..
Sacha Dhawan is so adorable

So this is what the Master was doing whilst he was stuck in the 20th Century.
Oh the nostalgia. I love it.
This director guy, what a master just sitting there.
Who else came back here after the Doctor Falls?;)
Even though it's not actually heartnell and he's doing a great job acting, heartnell seems like he'd basically be the doctor even off set with just now naturally he played the doctor
this is amazing :D
I wish they'd make a behind-the-scenes movie for each Doctor. Could be loads of fun.
the curious thing is that in this precise moment, I'm making a draw of The First Doctor... that was a Fantastic clip!!!
They should hire him as the first doctor in a future cross over episode I would pay to see that!!!

If you don't know why a tv show explodes like this and simply goes on forever you don't know your viewer. Doctor Who is a masterpiece that'll never die because of what it is. A fan will cry whilst watching every second of this bio pic.
Apparently, it almost died again after Whittaker’s run. I heard the BBC couldn’t find a director to replace Chris Chibnall and RTD thankfully stepped in (killing the little spark of hope I had for Christopher Eccleston returning one day sadly). But still, I think New Who may be in its final few years, enjoy it while it last.
