Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This CZcams channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

BREAK 75 IS GOING TO RUN ALL YEAR LONG!
good afternoon and good luck Rick. (not watched the video before commenting )
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
LFG.
Royal St George's in February 🤞🤞
Vaal de Grace, South Africa please 😁
THANK YOU for putting Guy's score on the screen. I know you did last time because it was a match, but every time someone plays with Rick I'd love to see their score too, even if we only see a handful of their shots. Love the series, my favorite thing about Fridays!
Totally agree it gives context I feel to how well Rick has played especially when he is playing with Guy as he is a great amateur golfer as it could be really hard conditions that day or just a really hard course.
Guy is a really good sport and 82 on a Legacy course is damn impressive.
I'm 100% certain I could score 82, if by score you mean count the number of balls I lost
Rick is smart enough to follow suggestions from the viewers and this has been talked about quite a bit. Well done. Not to mention that Guy is a very likeable bloke. Keep up the great work team.
Id have liked to see what guy did on the 7th (???) you can see him wandering around halfway up a HUGE sand dune while Rick talks to camera...me thinks...lost ball !!!!
Guy is great company! And such a smooth effortless swing too!
Absolutely addicted to the break 75 episodes, you struck gold. I’ll never get tired of them
The production value on these videos - camera work, graphics, music, jokes - is literally 2nd to none other golf Channel.. Total professional entertainment.
Indeed. Rick's team sets the bar. Good Good not far behind but not this level yet.
@@GolfQuestChannel Agreed 🤝
I love avoiding work on Friday morning to watch Rick play a little golf.
This is the way
You need to get out more lol 😉
That's probably what Guy is thinking as well every week. :-)
@@luukv8646 trust me I know 😂.
Would've been cool if they had shown his stableford score throughout the round, given that this is the home of that format
Smart
Stableford format was founded at Glamorganshire Golf Club
Love the longer videos gives such an insight to your game but love watching Guy as well, great chemistry and chat and nice to see Guy improving as well
The boos on the 4th had me in stitches 😂 The content is absolute next level lately Shielsy, have to come to Australia some time mate 👍
Last time I was this early rick didn't have a beard
hahah
@@RickShielsPGA shave it off for charity next time save you all that walking
This series is just the best, mainly for getting to see these incredible courses. Stableford is a staple in Aus, cool to hear how it originated!
I need to thank Dr Stableford- no warm up and made a 7 on the 1st. Ended up shooting 45 Pts and winning the comp this Sunday. 6 over gross 👍⛳️💵
Bandit!
@@calderjack7818 steady on mate, never have I hit 45 since I started playing. One of those days of birdies and pars. Also…switching to a weaker grip deffo helps with the pulls!
Rick: “Thick wooden pole”
Guy: “that’s the money shot”
😂😂😂😂
Rick: “I’m gonna try and get up and down for birdie.”
Me: I’m gonna try and get up and down for an 8 on this par 3.
Me: *has already marked 6-X and moved on*
In this episode's reference, I'd be gone after a 5 on a par 3.
Glad you’re getting the confidence back, Rick! It really shows!
Thanks for this series and being so vulnerable as we watch your journey.
Loving the ‘full kit winker’ Lyle & Scott look😜
Love the content Rick! You are the reason I started playing 6 months ago and I'm down to 27.5 hoping to go sub 20 before the end of the year!
bloody hell man that;s insane! I've been playing consistently for 18months - 2years and just got down to 28 and i thought my progression was decent. Congrats
@@niampatel9115 thank you mate!
Same for me! Quit playing 20 years ago and watching Rick sucked me right back in! Wish I could afford some decent new clubs but can't justify spending money on them at the moment. Still having a good time with my 20 year old clubs!
Looks like playin with the young guns at good good has enlightened Rick on the possibilities with the wedge around the green. Great content.
4:31 I think the Good Good boys' sense of humor rubbed off on you, Rick. No pun intended 😂
The GG golf guys have given Rick a new lease of life. He looks like he’s playing again. Quality 👍
Class video Rick, you’re the reason I’ve started playing golf. About to buy my first set
This series never fails Rick!!!! Love the content! Cheers!
This videos been out two minutes you haven't even watched it
Did I say I watched this video??? Can you read before you look dumb? “This series never fails” fact “love the content” opinion….. find others to troll
@@ZaneTaylorMusic he could've been a little excited and preempted the fact he loves it, and then proceeded to indulge in it 🤘
The overhead shots of your putting is sick! Love it.
Now I'm motivated for my episode of break 90 this Sunday morning 👍🏼
1st 9 holes or? 🤣🤣
Just broke 90 for the first time this past week! Shot an 84. You can do it brother!
The biggest problem with 'Break 75' is that you are, by definition, focusing on the outcome rather than the process. Every time you announce you "need a birdie, 3 birdies, an eagle, or a birdie-eagle finish", things go south. It happens to me too. If I think I need to birdie a hole to make up for the bogey on the previous hole, I invariably bogey that hole too.
I'd like to see a 'Break 75' where you don't even talk about the score 'live' during the round but edit it in later. Just film a fun round of golf with Guy, talk about the course, the local area, the history, and let the score be the score.
P.S. Wallasey is an awesome looking course. Would love to play there one day.
nah i like it. He pushes himself
Dude have you replied to this What’s App thing to claim the prize you have supposedly won ? I figure it’s a scam so haven’t checked any of the ones I supposedly won from other you tubers
@@MrShank12u All "text via telegram" posts are scams.
Nope, perfect the way it is. He’s realistically challenging himself.
@@closm99 Maybe, after all, it is one of the mistakes most handicap player make, but it isn't how pros play.
Great episode! Really loving all the editing to shot shapes, tracking ball flight, showing where the ball lands etc. Really good work from your team!
Absolutely - Rick's team is the best is the biz.
Front 9 done, mega impressed with the improvement in wedges and approach play. Those up and downs were brilliant and even the 2 bogeys your wedge shot was very good.
Rick, I absolutely love that you’re keeping break 75 around for the full year. It’ll definitely help feed my urge to keep on practicing especially in the winter. All the best from Canada!
I feel like his pacing has returned. Some seriously solid golf!
Competing with the good good guys really sharpened Rick’s game, hope we see more of it
is this sarcasm?
@@robertl8665 made the comment after his great chip shots on first 3 holes
@@jimmcewen9351 I commented on 29 mins I think he was on hole 14 and I couldn’t remember a hole that he wasn’t out of position on…after the awkward chip out of the bunker tho he played the last few holes well

Exciting stuff to come with this new confidence. Looking forward to it
Love the break 75 series! I also like you show your struggles as well as successes! Your love of the game shines through in all your videos!
Love how at the end of the day Rick has the emotions of us ‘commoners’… Going from “ahh unlucky”, “ah it’s not my day”, “ahh RICK!”; immediately to: “I should get a plaque on this hole!” 🤣🤣 love it
I’ve got to be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of guy joining s2 of break 75 as I don’t watch your podcast much. But after a couple of weeks I’ve warmed to him and he’s actually a top bloke. Wouldn’t be the same now without him in your break75 series. Real talk 💯
Best video you’ve ever made PERIOD!!!
I had the pleasure of playing Wallasey about three years ago, Rick and I agree with what you and Guy said on 16 green. A real hidden gem. Super fun course with tons of character. Well done.
5 mins watching, and Rick is chipping like a Legend, do my eyes fail me? Love the series, never a bad episode. Keep it up mate
Yikes….
Probably the calmest I’ve seen Rick play, looked so relaxed and good to see him not loosing his head when a bogey creeps in 👏
That was truly one of the best bunker shots I've ever seen on CZcams golf. Great shot!
Rick has compiled a collection of great trouble shots given his tendency to get the slappy, hooks going.
Weirdly feel like that’s the best I’ve seen you play in a while! Crazy! Keep smashing it
Being from the states, i am beyond jealous of these courses you've been playing. Video's look amazing keep it up & i've never played stableford.
Am in the UK and jealous. Love links golf and hope you get to experience it one day. It's so much more fun to play than 'splatt' golf. Just you against mother nature and the natural terrain.
I never knew that they don’t play Stableford in the States. It’s probably the most common club competition here in Australia. Speeds up play, encourages you to still go for birdies and better but doesn’t completely wipe out your round for one bad hole.
@@shaun34 I never thought about how it would speed up play but that is genius. Of course, you just pick up your ball if you don't make the bogey. Brilliant. I'm in Canada and we don't play it here either. I know of it but have never used it. Interesting stuff.
@@shaun34 That is so cool, me and my buddies have 2 groups going out this weekend perhaps we all give it a shot.
I love how in every video I’ve watched of Rick’s, he’s always just “two yards short of perfection.” 😂 I don’t think he’s aware this is fast becoming his catchphrase.
Thought this as well 😂
So close to being good....
Awesome to hear Break 75 going on all season. That was fantastic to watch and a valiant effort. So close even though driver and irons weren’t working real well. You looked very relaxed and almost pulled it out. Next time. Cheers Rick.
Love watching this series Rick. Always save it for a point on the weekend when I can sit uninterrupted and enjoy it through. Smashing course and great play on the opening holes. We need some 'up and down sauce' if that keeps up! Keep em coming.
Rick on hole 5: "If it's your day, it's your day"
Rick on hole 14: "If it's not your day, it's not your day"
Front 9 - “when it’s your day, it’s your day”
Back 9 - “when it’s not your day, it’s not your day”
Golf in a nutshell right here 😂
I was playing in my simulator while I was watching / listening to this episode and when I heard that on the back 9 I thought about going back to the front to see if I was imagining this. Too funny.
Played Wallasey several times, one of my fave course out there.Fees have changed a lot, since my first round there in 1977.
guys the kind of man you want to play with, always giving you positive vibes and not putting you down. love that guys attitude man, seems a nice bloke aswell. top pair, you two are.
Loving the recent vids Rick, especially the break 75. I can’t help thinking so many of your problems stem from not finding fairways from the tee. You’re putting far to much pressure on second and third shots by continually having to play from out of the rough.
Drinking game idea: take a drink every time Rick says “I must admit” or “are you joking me”
Or absolutely horrendous
or a shot when Rick says draw the ball. Next Friday will be great fun.
Or 2 yards from perfection
"Such a good putt" ...as the putt races past the hole.
I'll be honest with you....
Just come home from Wallasey Golf Club walking round watching my 12 year old practise to see this video. Must say Rick you had it at its easiest with very little wind 😀. What a course a true links with spectacular holes and spectacular views.
I love it Rick. I played at wallesy and it is one of my favourite courses on the Wirral. Do a series of all the courses around the Wirral as it is fully of really good courses. Keep up the content
Guy has to be one of the greatest people to golf with...seems like genuinely the nicest guy ⛳️ . Oh yeah good job Rick figuring out that chipping!
With the 'Stranger Things' theme going coupled with some hype from the podcast couple of weeks ago I genuinely was starting to think the eagle on the 18th was going to happen... looks a beauty of a course too. Slick editing on this vid and also a massive shout out to Mr Stableford.. has made my scorecards look OK even on the worse days.
The best news I have heard all day is that you're going to continue the break 75. The course was magnificent and was really nice on camera.
Your videos continue to inspire me and before long I will have some clubs to begin my journey of playing golf again. Thank you, Rick and Guy, for some amazing content once again and I cannot wait for the next one. CHEERS!!!!!!!
The PGA Tour dropped the only Stableford-scored tournament, The International, back in '06. It was played here in Castle Pines, CO, USA and was a blast to attend and watch. Wish they'd bring that back!
those first few holes were definitely some of the best golf i've seen you play Rick. I think you were relaxed and confident. Giant difference maker.
Had me dying with the comments on the 1st flag stick! Haha. Glad to hear the Break 75 series continues! Cheers boys
Love the energy being put into this series, and so happy to hear it is confirmed to be continuing. Awesome work.
Shot 76 from tees at 6700 yards today inspired by you and the GG mash-up. Best round ever for me. Thanks Rick!
Shortgame and putting has improved tenfold! Would love to see some night golf around the par 3 course again! Keep up the great work, and thanks for the content!
I just picked up golf this past week and have been watching your tips videos religiously. I love watching these as well!
I absolutely love the brake 75 series!
Especially when you play with guy. + 10 is a phenomenal score! I just really like how you talk about the shots you are going to hit, and how you work it through in your head. Rick, you are awesomley great golfer!
The links I've seen you play look so much nicer than any I've near me. The fairways are all flat, no contour or slopes and they look wedged into a spit of land. This course looks wonderful!
That bunker shot was world class. Love the series. Thanks for the entertainment.
Rick! So glad to hear that break 75 will continue! Absolutely love it and love seeing all the different courses! Keep up the awesome work!
Loving the aerial green shots Rick. Love seeing the progression of the putt from above!
Love your channel, haven’t played golf for 20 years due to injury but still enjoy watching it. I used to hit everything left when my confidence was a little low, “steering” all my shots. Really enjoyed you recent colab with the Good Good boys, keep up the great content! Shout out to Guy too 👍🏻
I love this series of break 75, look forward to the next one.
Rick i stopped playing golf 14 yes 14 years ago. Tomorrow I'm going to get fitted for golf clubs again thanks to you buddy.
Wow, what a course this is. I like it when you show the aiming points and the ball since it's not always clear on the video. Great as always, thanks to Guy who plays more like most of us!
Great to see you getting up and down and having confidence around the green
Love seeing my local course on here (not a member but have family who are). You got it on a great day to show it off in all it'd glory!! Well played both.
Simply unreal content. The views, the camera work, the short game.😎. Great video great watch.
Great vid! We play weekly Stableford comp at Olympic View GC in British Columbia! Thanks Dr. Frank for saving Saturday mornings!
You’ve single-handedly brought back my love of golf. So happy to see you chip it out, looking good
Did you step away from the game for a bit?
Love this series! When you're ready to take Break 75 international, we have some phenomenal courses in South Africa, especially on the south coast. Keep it up!
Cirlce ball tracer on that 3 wood out of the rough was great. Awesome editing by someone there on team Ricky
Love the enthusiasm Rick has about everything he does
Love your vids Rick, I’ve been using your tips to try and make my High school golf team after playing lacrosse for 13 years. Keep up the good work 🤘🏻
Another great video and Im So glad your going to keep posting them as its always something to look forward too and it's the best notification to pop up on my phone ⛳👍😁
Rick honestly that course looked stunning to play and a big thanks to Dr stableford for his golf format, I recently played a medal and captains day and took a 14 and an 11 on a par 5 9th hole of my local golf course courtown GC, to say card wreckers is an understatement plus the embarrassing title of highest score recorded on that hole only to birdie it twice next two weeks running, but do they remember the birdies! No, so thank you Dr stableford truly a lot to be said for scratching a hole.
I have only watched the front 9 so far, but this is already a perfect example of how important short game is. Rick made very few greens, hit very few fairways, found himself in bunkers, was hooking his irons, but because of his wedge and putter play, he got out of the front only +2. I can be playing way better, hitting fairways, most greens, etc, but my putting and chipping leads me to getting at least +5 on the front. this tells me and maybe you also that I need to work on my short game, it is the most important thing in golf
Great to see your confidence with your short game, fantastic shots, pleased for you Rick.
Love these videos with the man Charnock. Great combination. Great entertainment.
Thanks Rick. Love the content.
Wow… your short game is 10000000000x better! So happy to watch you play now! Keep It up
So good to see Rick confident with his wedges around the green!
So happy you're keeping the series going love it 👍
I love you're videos. You show the good, the bad, and the ugly! It's real golf. Thank you brother, keep going
Another enjoyable break75. Interesting to hear about Doctor Stableford, something to tell the lads over here in Australia where most of our games are that format.
Rick, I think this, brea 75 is by far and away the best thing on your channel. Being a golfer who goes out with the break 75 mindset it's good to see the thought process you go through. However, this episode epitomises something that has plagued you for the last 2 years. When you play with Guy and Adam Scott you can see your tempo is slightly out, trying to blast it, and you invariably end up left. The wedges look so much better when you slow it down. It's something I'm working on too.
Great looking course mind.
Great production quality and editing creativity. Elevating every time with a sense of humor. Well done Rick and team!!!
Pressure, pressure, pressure! I was hoping ol bluey would pull it out for you. You said ol bluey wasn’t the club to hit but you placed your tee shot in the rough. You paid your money, you played the club that you thought would be the best club. Enjoyed the round Rick, hope you did also!
I love the overhead drone footage on the greens. Keep up the great work
Awesome news the break 75 series will continue! I'm also really happy to see Guys score displayed at the end as well. Thanks for another great video
Great video Rick. I live in Wisconsin, USA and play in two leagues a week that booth score using Stableford scoring. One uses gross score and the other using net score. Our state Golf Association uses Stableford for Senior tournaments during the year.. Two tourneys in one. Both and Gross and Net for the round. I really like the format. Guy needs his own channel so we can see his round as well. Keep up the great videos and podcasts.
Another great video. Enjoyed seeing how Guy was playing last week. Would be good to see a bit more of that next time.
Thanks for running break 75 all year. It’s my favorite content on your channel.
You’ve upped your wedge game mate, very nice. Break 75 all year is brilliant for the full 18 hole warts and all content 🎉🎉
This channel has made me fall in love with the courses over there. Definitely different than the American courses but in a very charming way. It requires a different style of play that I truly appreciate
