I’m always pulling for Rick to break 75 but when he doesn’t or if he has a bad hole it’s a bit of a nice reminder that players much better than me have rough times on the course too. Break 75 is one of my fav series you put out Rick!
It’s very funny, but in the most genuine way - b/c we’ve all gone through this…. Many times…. It does surprise me to see a PGA Pro going through this…. But…. :) that is Golf!!!!
Rick that meltdown at 6 had me laughing, not at you but at how that sums up golf so much. I think we've all been there feeling good about our golf game and were shocked at how quickly the wheels can fall off. Such a humbling game. Recently broke 75 and then followed it up with an 85 😀
This hits so close to home. I didn't play a single round for the last 6-7 years, but used to play ~90 from blues. So, first time in years, managed to play a 99. I'm thinking "hey, not too bad, I didn't lose it!". Very next week, out for another round... shot a 114. I think I've found every forest I could. At least the trees were pretty.
@@TheReaderTeacher I did do a 96 the next week at the same course, with a 45 back 9, to be fair! Such a roller coaster. My long game is severely lacking, but my short game is coming back (did 34 putts). Consistency is hard...

Wow, as always, I love your content. However, this one had me a little misty-eyed. This is the course where my grandfather taught me how to play golf over 38 years ago and where I was a junior member - many, many a great memory, was spent here! I've not played this course in over 32 years, and I remember every hole. In fact, one of the many great memories was seeing my granddad scoring a hole-in-one on the 8th hole. This episode is definitely getting saved into my all time favourites, thanks Brother.
went to a course for the first time today. i certainly didnt shoot great but your videos and tips had me feeling more confident. ended up with an older gentleman that was trying to get back into it after a hot summer. i was using an old wilson set (10 dollar find at a garage sale) actually quite liked the irons. my driving wasnt great until my new friend allowed me a shot with his sim max. i smacked it around 310 yards according to his range finder. i was only getting a bit past 200 with my driver. i know i went on a bit of a tangent. the point is, as a new golfer i really appreciate your videos and the wealth of knowledge you provide. best wishes sir.

Rick I have been watching all these episodes of the Break 75 series. One thing I have noticed is 87% of the time you stop to get a sausage roll you end up playing better or at least finish stronger. Perhaps you need a sausage roll before you start the round, lathered in Ketchup as well; and you will start stronger out the gate. Just a little food for thought.. Love the series and your videos and podcast are the highlights of my day. Thanks for being there for all of us hackers. If your ever in the states, and find yourself in Tennessee; please hit me up for a round and we will go to Bear Trace Golf Club and have a blast. Guy can come too.

The last round I played before I crushed my feet and broke my ankles I shot 73 on a par 70 course, the rough part was I was even going into the last 2 holes. O well, hopefully I can break par next year when I can play again.
This is so relatable. You hit a bad few shots and your game starts going downhill, but then even when you hit good shots, they all end up with the most unlucky outcomes.
Big fan of Guy being a major part of these break 75s... A lot of the time Guy would have a few highlights, a few shots; but letting us see most/all of his play, and having him talk us through his shots is great.
Guy: “I’m a bog standard golfer.” Me: Tales a minute to consider what he has just heard, guy you are an amazing golfer and don’t get enough credit for it. I’d do anything to have iron striking capability like you do.
Think Break 75 is my favourite of all CZcams golf content. The highs, the lows, the genuine bond between the two of you. The sneaky little inserted jokes in the edit phase are decent too. Chapeau Rick for putting yourself through the wringer and the same hat tip to Guy for being a great partner.
Rick i really appreciate you taking one for the team and making the rest of us feel a bit better about our bad rounds. You have great content and i love to see it, keep it coming.
My son needs to watch this. 2 or 3 bad holes throws him right off his game, so seeing someone like Rick struggle a bit, start to doubt his shot, yet do well overall and finish on a high note should give him a boost. Scratch that first sentence, EVERYONE needs to watch this!
34:00 Rick, I can't remember if it was you, or Pete, or GG, but whoever it was made the point somewhere along the line that you have to play the game that you've got in your bag that day. So if you aren't chipping well, don't just keep slamming wedges, take the putter and be confident! Work that bad mentality out and get back after it when you can. Don't handicap yourself by playing what you think you should hit, just hit the club that you feel like you can hit. That tip helped me so much over this past year as I worked on taking my game more seriously, and I think it's time you remembered it too! Cheers mate!

You content has reignited my love for golf. I've been hitting up the driving range at my local course as much as I can and today I played my first 9 holes in over 10 years!! I shot a 51 which is +15 but I actually made a par and I was sooooo excited! So thanks again Rick, maybe someday if I'm lucky I can play a round with ya!!

Watching Rick work through the mental game is relatable. I played yesterday focused on the good feelings and played great on the front 9 on a tough course... but lost my focus on the back 9... two many thoughts lost focus on the simple routine and feeling I was focusing on... it's really is amazing how the mind works

Amazing to me that it was all related to just ONE poor shot. It happens to me. I can be 3 or 4 over then ONE poor shot leads to a meltdown and total loss of brain energy. Glad to see that it happens with scratch golfers as well.
