Altho he disguised his reason with his favorite celebrity, Sheldon really hold Leonard dear in his heart. Going back to TBBT, I've took notice every instances he shows how he really loves Leonard. My favorite was when Leonard has to take a surgery for his nose. I have mistaken that scene to be his fear of hospitals due to his dad, but it was a mixed fear of witnessing almost losing someone valuable in his life and losing his bestest friend forever.
