The Dukes deserve a place in that insane run of XTC masterpieces from Black Sea to Oranges and Lemons. Probably the most amazing run of albums in the history of the rock era.
I'd include Nonsuch in the run of masterpieces.
@@donyoung7874 Why don't we say Drums & Wires to Nonsuch?
The best band in the world practically nobody knew about....... Andy & John are fantastic here.
I thought EVERYBODY loved the Dukes!
(If they don't, they should :)
Great interview and history lesson on one of my favorite albums of all time.
Hearing the stories of what went on behind the scenes is like a delicious cherry on top of the Dukes cake.
My face hurts from having a perpetual smile while listening to this. Love Andy's wit. Have the 25 O'Clock album and Psonic Sun Spot as a pre-recorded cassette, both digitized now.
Thank you so much for posting this, it was so entertaining...a big fan of the boys!
What was your take on cassettes? Being of that generation myself i still feel the sound was beyond inferior to vinyl.
My D I S cassette always sounded great
@@pianoboy39 Pre-recorded cassettes always sounded great in every aspect for me.
I finally got answers I was wondering about since I was a kid and bought their 1st album!
Thanks for this! What a great discussion, with post-production that actually helps tell the stories. There will never be another Dukes! Still can't believe they did this so fast. Sounds expensive and complicated, but they had the right people to do what they did very quickly.
A great insight into the work that goes into the making of a record
Those sound effects on What In The World always reminded me of Only A Northern Song. Great interview! I'm on planet Smile now!
I’m glad John explained the sheep incident with Roy Harper to rectify it.
THANK YOU!!!!!! Thank you so much for posting!!!
thank you to all involved
Andy’s enthusiasm is infectious
Just unbelievable. It is like a gold mine revealed!! This is a great discovery! Thanks! N
So glad this has been uploaded again - such a great interview 😊 - it was up in 3 parts before but seemed to have been removed.
Hi Ursula, that's why I uploaded it actually as it seems to have disappeared. I thought it should be out there for all to hear 👍
Yes great interview & love all the psychedelic sound effects!!
Very entertaining. Thank you.
I felt like I was sitting in on this fun interview; I got every reference, every joke, every studio description, etc
Fabulous.
25 O’Clock is the best record they ever made‼️ ⏰ 🎸
the dukes records are the best psychedelic records ever if they were made in the 60s they would be up there with the classic of the era
Heh heh i love those smartie sound fx.
Thanks for posting this fun and informative interview. Wouldn't it be cool if they got back together to do one more album. Do you know what songs on Psonic were leftovers from Skylarking?
I think that Vanishing Girl is a leftover.
Little Lighthouse
I had no idea the Affiliated announcer was breaking in for the second time tonight to tell us Hitler was dead hahahaha
Brilliant.
I know Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow of the Possies. They were best buddies with my late brother Mark. I remember those lads as kids.
Wonderful!p
Better than Rutles
On a par I'd say. Enjoy both.
Never heard of him
