    The 924 was not designed by VW. It was designed by Porsche for VW. When one does major transmission or transaxle work on a 924, one is reminded that it is in fact, not a VW. :)

      Great points that more reviewers should acknowledge! It's designed by Porsche. With the use of VW parts.

      My apologies for misunderstanding/misreading the information. I had been told by a club member and that’s how I recalled the info but upon checking I’ve misunderstood the relationship. Thanks for pointing this out 👍

    Like your calm way of sharing your thoughts about the 924. Sounds like it was a good friendship you both had. Thx for tthe great vid. 👍

    I had one of these beauties many years ago. It was a plain 924 with the large sunroof, I bought it in West Germany in 1979 - left hand drive and was originally a light metallic green before being resprayed met red. It had Burberry interior and gold alloys. I loved it and drove many miles in it. However, one thing that drove me up the wall was its refusal to start when it was hot. Never ever found a fix for the issue and sadly it was the reason I had to let it go. I had it from 1985 until 1989 then bought a BMW 3 series and suddenly realised how good the brakes were on the 924.

    Loved my old 924 (metallic burgundy), the only problems I had were a) it ate batteries and b) a persistent leak in the back window (around the wiper motor?) which nobody seemed to be able to fix. Oh and c) the fan on the radiator would only kick in once the temperature dial was about to touch the red.

    Saw this car an Auto Trader, absolutely loved it, would have been interested if it wasn’t an auto, I already have a 924S auto so wanted a manual 2.0.

      How do you like your 924S Auto? I'm considering a 944 Auto.

    what's that thing on the dashboard over the clocks? That seems either like an empty space or a speaker

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  Před 10 měsíci

      I think it’s a speaker but I’m not sure to be honest.

    • @924oc
      @924oc Před 4 měsíci

      It's a leftover from the early cars where there was indeed a speaker for the mono radio! Rear speakers were then introduced, and by the year of this car, door speakers as well, making the dashboard grille redundant.

    • @924oc
      @924oc Před 4 měsíci

      @@chodesniffer2187 Look after it and it will look after you. Don't drive it on salty roads, and jet wash the wheelarches to remove mud, spray cavity wax in the sills and wheelarches, or just only drive it on dry days. Compared to many other 80's cars, they are pretty solid due to their galvanised steel construction.

    Good surviving car. That interior would give me a migraine. Whoever designed it must have been on a trip. Needs a lot of work+ that auto gearbox. Nice colour. Needs TLC 👍
