Great performance Wolfgang! Dad’s proud.
Most definitely! I was thinking the exact same thing. Heck, I was proud of him!!
Well 🙏 Done Son!!
Love this
Awesome Wolfie, It would bring tears of love from Eddie, and Valerie
@@InsanityTheTwistedSymbiote no doubt. They both seem very humble and down to earth. Full of love.
This kid is incredible. Bet Dad is full of smiles looking down.
Kid? He's somewhere around 30 😉
@@RutgerOlthuis Fun fact: He is now the same age his dad was at the height of his popularity, when they made "1984".
@@RutgerOlthuis he’s a kid to me. I have a 31 yr old daughter
Wow!
@@RutgerOlthuis my son his 30. They always are a kid. In fact my son has always call me mommy and giving me a kiss every time he saw me even in high school🥰
Such Talent. I don't understand why fans of VH give him so much crap. He's not his Dad, never said he was his Dad and he's forging his own path. I hope he has a long and successful career.
RB grief makes fans do stupid things there is still no excuse for treating his boy bad Eddie loves and is still so proud of Wolfie as is Valerie do not provoke mama bear she will bite LOL
Envy creates jealousy and bitterness.
@@aprilgosa5779 sounds like you know them personally?
They set such a high bar for him, his father, the greatest guitarist and music innovator of our time. R.I.P. Eddie. We all feel Wolfgang's sorrow.
Fans of van halen ABSOLUTELY LOVE Wolfgang !!!
He’s such a polite and well spoken young man. It’s obvious he was raised by wonderful parents.
hard to believe Wolfie is already almost 30 I was just watching a video of Arseno Hall's show in 1991 I believe and he was so little and sweet while Val was being interviewed and trying to get him to dance which he did when nobody was looking then he would stop and Eddie was so proud then Wolfie saw Valerie on video and went Mama I believe LOL so cute hard to think he is already 26
I'm love with his voice!! ❤❤❤❤
Woo-whee! He'll get some leg tonight for sure!
Connie, I have read so many comments exactly like yours. He truly is a wonderful young man… Raised correctly by two beautiful parents.
Thanks so much for having me! 🙏
DON'T PAY ATTENTION to all the jerkoffs who wrote ridiculously stupid things here Young Brother! Your Pops is proud and so is your mom and the music is good! So is your voice! Just keep it up and don't look back...
You can't pick your parents my brother and if people are going to talk about that then well they never played a gig in their lives or they're just aggravated or jealous? Who cares...!!!
Do your own thing and keep looking straight ahead... ☮️💖🛐💯🙏🔜💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫
You are Amazing!!! Please know you are supported in every way, luv ya Wolf!!!
Love the album. This song really touches my heart. Keep rocking Wolfie.
Love your work, man!!!!
Shows how much love and respect you had for your dad. I absolutely love this song, and God forbid, when my father passes, I would dedicate this song to him. Love you Wolfie. Thank you.
For me it is IMPOSSIBLE to listen to DISTANCE and with Wolfgang without crying....there is a lot of emotion, passion and a bit of sadness what a wonderful tribute to EVH!!
In an interview with Howard Stern, Wolf shared a vulnerable moment he had with his dad where he asked him "Dad, what if the music I makes sucks?" His dad's response was succinct & immediate: "Impossible."
You could see in Wolf's face how that moment of validation & joy gave him an extra layer of insulation & confidence against the harshness of which he was destined to be judged, & it reminded me just how vital it is that parents support their children's dreams & ambitions. Also, the way his Mom just goes nuts over his various appearances & endeavors just really makes me smile.
If you've lost a father, this song hits you right in the chest. Beautiful tribute.
I know, I bought this track and the video so I could hear it whenever I wanted, and it makes me cry!! I love the transparency and the love.
Me too
@@51502 I could totally see that. I saw an interview with Wolfie and he said that his dad said his album was the best ever!! His dad was Wolfie’s biggest fan- other than his mom. Lol So awesome to know he had that kind of love in his life!
Holy cow, I didn't know he could sing and he's pretty darn good!
He not only sings on this song, but plays every instrument on the studio song..
This took me straight back to the early 90s. This is a song for everyone who's ever lost someone. Ya done good, Wolf.
God Bless the Van Halen Family. Nothing but love!
This young man is something else...most would be hiding under a rock somewhere after all that happened...stay calm and rock on brother 🤘
No matter what the distance, it’s such a great line. I was much older than Wolfgang when I lost my father, never would have had the strength to do what he did there. No way. I wish him peace as he carries on down the path.
I mean, he really isn’t.
Meh, he’s subpar at best, I’ve been around local musicians for 50 years, I’ve seen and jammed with musicians much, much, MUCH more talented than this dude. He’s only getting attention because of who his dad is, didn’t have to earn his keep, just got plopped in the spotlight without ever earning it. Can’t respect that.
Imagine having a band for almost 50 years, and you end up getting replaced by some spoiled teenager. That’s something you just can’t respect, it’s a big 🖕 to your longtime band mate. I don’t care what you say, even Anthony said it’s BS.
So, Eddie can get bent. 🤮
@@rulerofomicronpersei8 you"re negative BS OPINIONS are so pathetic! YOU are the type of jerk who could learn class from the talented, genuine likable person you slander, what does that say about you?! Oh the irony!
@@rulerofomicronpersei8 You have not jammed with anyone. I looked you up and you are failure as a musician. Anthony never said anything like you say so you are also a liar.
Wolfie is a perfect blend of both Valerie and Eddie. So talented. I wish him all the best.
Couldn’t have said it better myself! He has the talent of his father and the soul of his mother❤
He's got a shine, all of his own...
I call Wolf a kid also. I miss Eddie.....way to early to leave us. R.I.P. Eddie.
He’s got something special, no doubt
Wolf's voice is phenomenal
Such a musically talented family.
Wolfgang has one of the best voices I’ve ever heard and his musical talent is astounding! Wishing him all the best in life. I’ll be a fan for life. ❤️
He didn't have to ride his dad's coattails. He got where he is on his own talent. Fantastic song, vocals, love everything about it. Thanks so much for this and the album! Love it!
I really truly and honestly enjoyed that. I didn't expect being transported back to a 90s reflective type of vibe. It made my morning man and you've proven to be pure talent. Keep it up!
👍my thoughts exactly
Love that kid. I wish him all the success and happiness in the world.
Me too!!
Me too!
Sooooo good! I'm a fan of his for sure 🤘
Beautiful tribute, such a talent in his own right!
I'll be honest - I like this version better. Being all acoustic fits the mood and tone of the song far better.
I was kinda thinking the same.
I thought the same!! Loved him drumming on the guitar and how he sang the chorus so strong and high...really showed his talent w/o technology!
Growing up everything VH I still tear up thinking EVH is no longer with us. This song is a tremendous honor to his legacy through WVH. Thanks Wolf🙏
There will never be another Eddie Van Halen, but Wolfie is the next best thing. This song made me cry.
He was a flawed man not THE MOST HIGH Stop worshipping man.
@@sterlingstoots3215 We're all flawed. Some more than others. EVH gave us what I believe is some of the most brilliant melodic RnR for over four decades.
your not alone.
Agree
Beautiful song, brings tears. I understand Wolfie’s pain. I lost my father this past Christmas morning. Valerie & Eddie raised an amazing young man.
It's admirable he could make his own way in the shadow of his dad. He was able to break through and is an amazing artist
My 19 year old son who has been struggling with social anxiety and depression the past few years absolutely loved this song! I’m a huge fan of both your parents and so naturally I was interested in what you had to offer. I think you will have fans from Van Halen as well as ones who just admire you for your own contribution to the music world. I know we are! 😊
That is fantastic. I think this song is a gift!!! Thank you Lord God Almighty for relief from social anxiety is this young man. I too have a 19 year old son that feels socially awkward and has struggles. Bless you for this post!!!
My son was also struggling with this. I was so scared. But he is 26 now and thriving. More than I could’ve hoped for. It’ll be ok 😊
🙏👑🕊️
Absolutely stunning, the gift has been passed from father to son. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this extremely talented artist.
I am eagerly awaiting the rest of the album!!! So great.
Love his name, love his voice, love the lyrics, love the song!!
As a person who has also loss my dad, this song hits deep, I’m grateful for Wolfgang sharing this with the world. You never stop missing them...😔💔😢 I felt the sadness today for my dad, pretty deeply. Rest In Peace always Eddie Van Halen.💫🙏🏾💫
I’m so sorry about your loss my dad passed away four years ago I know the pain you’re going through if you ever need to talk please let me know, I will say a prayer for you and your family
@@rocknroll20024 Thank you so much I really appreciate that....💛🙏🏾💛 It means a lot.
Everytime I hear this song it makes me cry. It is such a touching & emotional song. So beautiful. It just pulls at your heart strings. It's a favorite of mine. So touching. Keep up the fantastic work!
Exactly what music is supposed to do, touch your soul!
Seeing him on Kimmel had that affect on me, I sensed he was choked up a bit when he started the song, can't blame him, he's had a pretty tough so many months, heck years, leading up to this. Nobody, in most cases, asks to lose a parent. Lost my mom in 2012, God Bless you Rose Ann.
The Video still gets me everytime...I can't make it through the end.
Same.
I love this young man’s heart. Just a glimpse of the Legacy of his father, a beautiful human being.
On Wolf's youtube page it says he played every instrument on his debut album & of course his singing is incredible & he seems like such a humble & grateful young man, you should hear him play "Eruption" on his dads 1978 Frankenstien guitar, it sounds exactly like his dad, Amazing!
My nephew shared the same birthday as Eddie. He, Tyler, passed six years ago yesterday, this song is so fitting. Thank you, Wolf.
Ive gotta say Wolfie has got a very good voice i like this version better
Wow- vocally really impressive on the high stuff. And no auto tuning there. All heart and soul and talent.
I love this song! Wolfgang is the greatest thing Eddie has done ! What an honor to his father, he must be smiling down listening to this music ! ❤️
His voice is incredible!
He gave me Chills and I was very emotional especially into the bridge. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree... Eddie's watching man and he's one proud, man!😊
Rock is here to stay!!!! When he powers through the NO MATTER WHAT THE DISTANCE IS I WILL BE WITH YOU...Great fricken job 🐺🤘🔥
That's what I'm excited about, the next generation of rocker!
I am all about some Rock making a HUGE COMEBACK!! This is great!!
Wolfgang... you’re makin Pop proud. Great pipes.
OMG! I got chills listening to your song you wrote for your Dad.❤️🎆🎸! I met your dad when he was on tour in 1982. He was very sweet, shy and a perfect gentlemen. I last saw Van Halen in Charlotte NC in 2007. Years took my daughter to that concert, it was one of our best times together. She died in a car accident in 2014, she was 25 and 4 months pregnant… I miss her everyday!💔. Your song comforted me. 🥲It’s been 7 long years. Time helps heal, I cried everyday the first year..god and my friends helped me to start to walk through the grief. I started a Charity in her name. Mandy🥰💖. God bless you Wolfie!
Your dad will always live in your 💜 heart! Eddie is smiling down on you in perfect peace.🎆✝️
He’s a talented young man, that’s for damned sure.. I love this song..
The first time I saw Wolf perform with V.H. on the reunion tour after replacing Michael Anthony, I didn't know what to expect from his playing, I learned very quickly he definitely has the Van Halen music gene in his DNA, I know both your mom and pop are very proud.
I fight tears every time I hear wolfie perform. Such a huge fan!
I cannot imagine what he is going through losing a parent and having it be so public. Very sad I will keep them in my this and prayers😢
Can imagine Eddie flashing that trademark grin of his with pride. Valarie should be proud of her son.
Eddie is looking down and saying, That's my son I'm so proud of him.
We all are R.I.P EDDIE 🎸
Eddies voice mail to Wolf at the end of the recorded version makes me tear up

It's great to hear him singing on his own. Definitely a tenor, those were some seriously high notes in there, and the way the raspiness comes in there naturally singing that high, that's some serious talent.
Holy ish his singing gives me goosebumps.

My husband of 30 years passed 3 months ago from a long term illness that made him suffer more than any human should. This song really grabbed my heart. It's a beautiful tribute from son to father. It also describes the feelings I have about the loss of my wonderful husband. He was a big fan of Eddie Van Halen, & was always telling me how cool he thought it was that Wolfgang was playing in the band with his dad, & that he was a very talented young man. I agree. Thank you Wolfgang Van Halen for this beautiful song. I look forward to hearing more!
