- “As my pop continued to struggle with various health issues, I was imagining what my life would be like without him and how terribly I’d miss him. While the song is incredibly personal, I think anyone can relate to the idea of having a profound loss in their life. I never intended ‘Distance’ to be the very first piece of music people would hear from me, but I also thought my father would be here to celebrate its release. This is for him. I love and miss you, Pop.” - WVH

Wolfgang , I am 62 years old. I grew up listening to your father and his band. Anybody that puts you down is a jealous booger eater don't listen to him bro, Rock on.
A booger eater.. wow real dumb
Those 56 thumbs down honestly need to be ashamed of themselves. What an honorable gift this son has placed before the world regarding his father! As a father of six, I’m humbled to see Eddie’s son lift his father up just as his father lifted him. No thumbs down
Agreed. It was a nice, caring and loving tribute to his dad and that it was great to see that Eddie was so proud of his son to carry on the Van Halen torch!!!
They dont true talent
Look at the thumbs down now man,I could cry what has this world come to..let’s hope they hit it on accident trying to scroll down to another legendary song
You ain't lying about that. So very true.

Every child deserves a father like this.
What?? How do u know what kind of father he was?? Because u seen some home movies?? What a dumb thing to say lol. God gimme a break
@@jayvermute5173lol why so salty 🤣 clear to see Eddie was a good dad
@jayvermute5173 Wolfie says how great of a dad eddie was even with his personal demons/addictions all the time. You can easily look this up.
Listen to the the lyrics to this song.
"A world without you..I don't think I will ever move on".
What a strange opinion you have and truly for no reason unless you like to troll. 😢
@@jayvermute5173 Eddie had his own demons, so i agree with you, but from Wolfgang's own mouth he was an incredible father,..not perfect, just loving and supportive, even through HIS OWN alcoholism and drug addiction,. Even through HIS OWN cancer.......

Hey there Wolfgang I'm Michael Stillman's son our dad's were close friends for many years, and it hit him really hard when Eddie passed, and unfortunately Mike also passed away at home in the Sierra Madre house up top the canyon there, on 12-4-2023 I know they stayed in touch with each other for for many years and he cherished there friendship, condolences man for our pop's, I hope there still Rockn together ❤️ ❤
Not only are you your own artist, you are your own man. Your father is smiling down on you. Well done. RIP Eddie.
Wow . What a great song.
You’re Dad did some amazing things Wolfie. But having and raising such a great and loving kid who has become such a loving young man, was by far, his greatest accomplishment.
Beautiful song Wolfie. My condolences!
While millions mourn the musical genius that was Eddie Van Halen, this poor kid is just missing his father. :(
Exactly. 💔💔💔
That was really heartfelt! Yes he is!!
Just like any other son or daughter is missing their father. Regardless if their dad was a musical genius, rocket scientist or what have you. We all miss our father when they are gone.

Damn, well said.
Back in the late 90s Eddie used to come into a electronics store I worked at called The Good Guys. Sometimes he would bring Wolfgang. Eddie was always so cool to everyone. One time we were talking and i told him about my music and he gave me his home phone number. He told me to call him sometime to come up and do music. I was floored. I called a week later and we talked for an hour...but not about music. About personal stuff...life...he told me of his cancer. I called again a week later and we talked an hour again about life and stuff. My old brain is so fuzzy I wish I could remember more about those conversations. It was a great experience.
Cool story. At least you can say you've talked to him and for an hour each time! Do you know how many people(myself included) wish we could have net him for even 2 minutes? 😎
@@antimurphy8212 Yes I was lucky. My friends in IA were so jealous lol But with the work I did in LA I was around celebrities every day. Eddie was so cool though. My heart breaks for Wolfie or anyone that loses their father.

Written so beautifully and I agree 100%.

That is quite a compliment but true. I've had trouble getting over his death but this amazing song is closure for me. Your music was there with me growing up and you are my favourite guitarist. We love you Eddie & I'm still crying too.

Wow, really?! I had no idea and that makes it even more special. Love love love it and chokes me up every single time. Thank you for that.
Did not realize that! Plus he is a good singer. Hope he does well!
Wow and thanks for sharing! Didn't know this
Wait - WHAT???? EVERY INSTRUMENT?!!!!!!!
If you can, listen to the interview on Howard Stern. It was an amazing interview. Wolfie is so talented!!!
Simply FANTASTIC this homage to your father! R.I.P Eddie Van Halen.
Wow this was absolutely beautiful . A million thumbs up to Wolfgang. Eddie would be extremely proud .
This kid is legitimately talented. What a great tribute from a loving son to his father.
And now you know WHY Edward chose to STAY HOME rather than make albums and tour the world constantly. ❤️
He stayed at home because he didn't need to tour, he had $100 million fortune. Most people have no choice, they have to work long hours and spend little time at home so they can pay the mortgage and feed the family. That's WHY he chose to stay at home....he had nothing to prove anymore!
Happy New Year 2021! God bless everyone who is hurting. This song is dedicated to everyone who lost a loved one. "I'm calling out your name tonight" by Richie Levoi czcams.com/video/JSbGGiSe3S8/video.html
WVH, You couldn't have possibly done a better tribute to your dad! You are a testament to how great your father was!!!!! RIP Eddy, you are the greatest!
THIS song resonates and such a beautiful video collection. Wolfe sure was and is loved. No matter the distance 🙏🏽⭐️🤲🏽

So it's not me crying lol beautiful song
Heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. Beautiful tribute to your Dad, Wolf.
I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon with your dad at 5150 on January 17th 2017. The way he lit up when he spoke about you was so inspiring. As a father of two myself, his love for you and the pride he felt for you really touched me. I know first hand by hearing it from his own mouth how much you meant to him. I wish you all the success in the world Wolf ❤️🤘
Such a beautiful tribute to your father and as you wrote in the description of this video that you wrote this simply imagining his passing... my heart breaks for you.
Man....what a song..to all the dads out they.. remember to spend plenty of time with your kids .... tomorrow is promised to no one......rip Eddie 😭
@@MammothWolfgang no thanks U man...what yourself and father have done is amazing.. hopefully one day I'll get to meet you in person..all the way from Australia..I thank you...
Thank you for sharing your tribute & talent. I am sure there isn't a day that goes by that you don't think of your dad.
I’m trying to hide from my wife because I’m over here ugly crying while watching a CZcams video. As a father and a musician this hit me hard. You made an amazing tribute to an amazing father.
In the next room my 6 year old son and 3 year old daughter are asleep for the night and I just can’t wait until the morning so I can give them the biggest hug and tell them again how much I love them.
Thank you.
@Local Man I love what you wrote. It's so great to see what an awesome loving and kind influence EVH had not only on his own son, Wolfgang, but on other men as well.
You wouldn't be a real man if you didn'tt cry or have a SOUL
I feel the same way with my two sons! I will do the same!
Same here dude. That was so sad it's unbelievable. Great tune, just so sad. Cried my eyes out
Same here man... Tears falling and I am trying to hide from my wife and sons! Impossible don't cry with this vídeo if you are a father!
He's literally the perfect blend of his mom and dad.
As ARE we all, the literal combo of our Father & Mother.. I know what you mean, though.
@@ericblom9568 yes but still

This song brought me to tears Wolfie
The world lost a legend but you lost a loving father
May God be with you and your family 💔💔
The Greatest hits of the entire Seattle movement all rolled into one song. Spectacular and deep 🙏🎧🙏
Man this is easily one of the most beautiful songs ever made. I’m a dad of two little ones 3 and 1, and they changed my life. There’s hard days here and there but I couldn’t imagine my life without them. Folks without kids just can’t comprehend the pure joy your children bring. It’s a euphoria that transcends anything in the world. I can’t listen to this song without crying thinking one day I’ll leave earth without them. Hallelujah to Jesus for the love you’ve given me through my wife and kids. ❤
I haven’t cried since Eddies passing till today. A true legend.
My dad took his life when I was 15, he was at Big Sur in CA. I was in Maryland. He served 2 tours in Vietnam as a warrant officer in the Army, flying helicopters. It was Nov 11th 1982.. the day the Vietnam memorial was dedicated.. he would've wanted me to a musician, as he didn't want me to join the military. Sometimes I feel his hand on my shoulder when I play guitar.. 45 years playing guitar is better than the nightmares that war brings. God bless you Wolfgang, and thank the powers that be for Edward giving the most incredible rock music to this rock we're living on.
What a beautiful, honest, warming courageous thing to say. I am sorry for your father.
A Son who pays tribute to his Father. Enough said.
I am terribly sorry.
Very sorry for your loss Brother
Bless you kind Sir💌🐾💫
I've watched this so many times and can't watch without weeping and I'm a tough bastard love you Wolfgang Van Halen
Yeah the voicemail at the end is dang near impossible to get through without losing it
I just wanted to say the same thing Kerry‼️
Even the first time I heard this, I cried. I still do. Such a beautiful song.
“I just want to hear your voice...”

me too, that got me
Yup!!!! That voice mail made me cry like a god damn baby. I lost my dad too and that song hits hard. I can never get passed the 2nd verse without tearing up.
Wow, that just took my breath away.
I'm still wiping away tears. You could hear the love in his voice when he said he wanted to hear Wolfie's voice.
I absolutely lost it even more when I heard it and still get tears
Thank you! Thank you for sharing your dad an family with us otherwise I would not have ever seen him in that light. More to love about Eddie! Your voice is as beautiful as your testimony to your dad. Mirror mirror on the wall we all loved your call. ❤️
Eddie seemed like a really good father. I have a newborn daughter and can see a lot of my love in how Eddie interacted with Wolfgang.
