    After 6 years of heavy drinking hard liquor I finally caved it and I tried killing myself. My withdrawal was the absolute worst,, aside from the constant trembling and DT’s through the ceiling I finally went into treatment. The 30 day treatment saved my life and I haven’t drank since March 27.

      Going to AA, for support, can be a life saver. Support while getting off of any drug, is extremely helpful. This cannot be emphasized enough.
      If something like AA is not possible, if you know anyone that has gotten sober, give them a call. Someone once told me,” your mouth will save your ass!” It saved my life.
      Good luck.

One day he asked if i could get him a cup like the one i put my protein shakes in. I didnt thkbk much about but he was using it to measure how much alcohol he was drinking. Hed fill it up to like 500ml at first and then the lowest ive seen him have it at was 150ml one day, he ended up quiting after a while. If you feel like you're going to have a heart attack, go to the ER. But I've out worn all my options (7 rehabs, multiple ER visits) now I ween off with about 6 beers for 3 nights, 4 beers for 3 nights, 3 beers for 2 nights, 2 beers for 2 nights and you'll be ok. You will not sleep well for 4 days garunteed. Sweats, runny nose, fuzzy vision, confusion, nightmares and feels like little ants on you all night. Alcohol is a horrible drug. But if you go back to the liquor you will just go back into the same withdrawals when you stop. Weening with the beers with a plan to stop drinking by doing it, is the only way to escape the addiction.

You can't will power your way through a heart attack. Talk to a doctor, do it safely. If you're trying cold turkey and your symptoms get bad, get to an ER. #1: Taper off slowly, don't rush it. I personally have tapered off in 7 days but that was only after 3 months of heavy drinking nightly. I'd say call your primary care doctor and see if they can get you a script for a benzo, these help a ton if used correctly and you actually cut down usage.

      @WungusBill-lf4iu Před 5 měsíci

      Being broke is better than being dead. If you go to a doctor ahead of time and put a reasonable plan together, you can usually get away with it for the price of a few prescriptions, a few hundred bucks if you're uninsured. If you're going into the ER it's because you've fucked up bad and you're trying to save your life, or you're so deep into rock bottom that you and the doctors both know there's not a chance you're paying for anything. You can safely detox on your own if you ween off gradually, but there are not that many people who are alcoholic to the point of dangerous withdrawals who can stick to a strict regiment of drinking progressively less every day.

Talk about muscle spasms, heart palpitations, heart racing, sweating like crazy, it was quite a lot to deal with but I also realized that drinking between 4 to 8 years a day isn't quite the level of someone who is drinking between 10 to 20 a day so thankfully I didn't have any seizures or delirium tremens

The coma had atrophied my muscles. I was ventilator dependant after waking, they decided that they could put me on a bi-pap as opposed to a tracheostomy. The whole thing weakened me very much and it took me over a year to get back to a normalish state.

      Alcohol withdrawal can be more dangerous than heroin withdrawal. Seizures, tremors, delirium tremors, hallucinations, and more, can occur with alcohol withdrawal. Roughing it, can be deadly.

    How long of a bender are we talking? I went on a 5 day bender boozing pretty hard (all beer) and the next 3 days I was wrapped full of anxiety and would fall asleep only to wake up an hour later. I drank a few beers to even out the nervous system and after those 3 days I felt rejuvenated. Not sure if those were minor withdrawals or full blown anxiety?

    • @Godflo
      @Godflo Před 10 měsíci +3

      Anxiety finds its way into your life no matter what substances you use. The problem with anxiety is that you NEED a substance CONSTANTLY to fix it. Depression comes along with it as well. You can be sober for months and still suffer from anxiety because it’s an entirely separate issue. People who are unfortunately plagued with anxiety will have to find other ways to deal with it, whether that be working out at the gym, collecting baseball cards, playing video games, working, etc. it’s not fun, but it is curable. But only YOU can cure it.

    • @dontreadthisplease2416

      Before drinking was an every day thing for me, I would go on benders too. I don't think you should worry too much about withdrawals from a 5 day bender and worry more about the fact that the only solution you could find to the anxiety was a few more beers, and how much alcohol you consume overall. I was always very anxious and paranoid and shakey for a bit after a bender.

    • @WungusBill-lf4iu
      @WungusBill-lf4iu Před 5 měsíci +1

      Those were minor withdrawals, yeah. Went through the same thing myself, at first I thought I had just developed an anxiety problem out of the blue but after a while I realized the correlation with drinking, the next couple days after heavy drinking I'd have a sense of impending doom and next to no sleep. They get worse as you get older or as your habit gets worse. What you experienced is what we'd call an early warning sign. Do with that what you will.

      Your best and safest option, after medically supervised detox, is a gradual diy detox. Steadily reduce the amount you drink over a period of a couple weeks, once you're down to one drink a day maintain that for a few more days, then quit entirely. Figure out your average daily intake, make a schedule for weening off of that average, stick to it religiously. It will still suck, and it will suck for a longer amount of time than cold turkey, but your symptoms will not be nearly as severe and your risk of severe harm will be reduced to basically nothing.

      Another key thing is don’t make excuses saying oh I will have one more ,nope you put it down forever there is no going back. Birthdays, outing, parties,nothing, peer pressure. They have to stop. If I could make it illegal I would. Out of all the drugs it’s the hardest to stop because of the withdrawals weed does the same thing. Any drug that alters your mood, mean makes you feel good, does the same in heavy users that try to stop. Don’t listen to the ones that say they stopped and didn’t have something go on with them that’s because they are still doing it behind close doors. They need to listen to their body and what it’s telling them. Them friends have to go. If they are still drinking or what ever their drug of choice is. A lot of my friend are wondering why I’m not showing up anymore. Well because peer pressure when I say I’m quit they say no your not hit it again, or you will being drinking this weekend. That’s not what I need in my life because I want to enjoy without it. It sucks because I care about my friends but the reality is you have to fix your self and then go back later but they can’t ride if they don’t support your next moves in life. I’m just glad,this go around, I caught it before it got as far as it did last time. So hope people read this and learns from it ,you can do it without alcohol and drugs. It’s rough but worth it. By the time it over with you will have just as much fun with friends not drinking as you did while drinking. I know words have powerful meaning if used right. There will be a time when something will trigger it. Just thinking back to the horrible things you had to go through to quit and that should be more than enough to say no. Because one leads to three three turns to six. You have to say no and stand up for yourself. If they say oh just have one leave and go home and don’t feel bad for either. Because that’s not supporting you and your happiness. Your not telling them to stop drinking so you are supporting them in what makes them happy. Alcohol wasn’t making you happy. That’s way they say speak to someone so you know how to tell people how you feel in this kind of situation. Peer pressure is the worst. Because you feel like your letting your friends down when your not you drink your letting yourself down. Believe me they will feel that alcohol in the morning. It’s sad but it’s true. I didn’t get this mind set on my own I have Jesus to think for that. Drinking was slowing me down from the life he has in store for me and I lost sight of that. I believe anyone do anything the put their mind to but you have to put your mind to it. If your feeling lost talk to someone. Been there before too. Didn’t know how to ask but lucky I had a brother that seen it was getting to far out of hand and he stepped in. I was mad at him at first but I knew why he did later on. And for me to pick drinking back up makes his efforts worthies so I’m not going to tell him this time I’m going stand strong and fight it. Jesus has my back and I know my brother would be proud. Few for things if your have depression and you are trying to quit just know it will be okay in about a month just cry it out. Crying will get all the emotions out what ever they are.
      Note :I feel okay just anxious night sweats and small tremors in my hands. But I got this. And anyone else going through the same I really do hope you find a way.

    I’ve done it. I’m not trying to be contrary, just sharing what I did. I am a very heavy drinker and decided to quit. For three days I drastically reduced my drinks down to three a day and then just stopped. Worst side effects were the normal cravings which I had to put aside and disrupted sleep. I feel 100% better because I don’t feel poisoned everyday I wake up!

      if you compare the severe withdrawal symptoms of both heroin and alcohol I’ll give you a list for both starting with alcohol withdrawal with delirium tremens which occurs with severe alcohol withdrawal: hallucinations, seizures, extreme confusion, rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, high body temperature, agitation and sweating and with severe heroin withdrawal the symptoms are: feeling very jittery and nervous, anxiety, diarrhea, muscle cramps, sweating and goosebumps, nausea and vomiting, fast heart rate, runny nose and watery eyes, muscle and joint pain which in conclusion shows that severe alcohol withdrawal with delirium tremens is deadlier than heroin withdrawal

      Have a game plan. Slowly lessen your alcohol intake each night. You won't get the same buzz as you drink less. You are addicted to the "good" buzz feeling and you're going to have to fight that. That want for more is the addiction.
