I got myself an absima 2wd buggy, it is a very nice suepr adjustable buggy, i put on a nice super stock and i went for a drive, very nice! I got the roller for 50 euros + stock servo, oil diff and oil shock included, so much fun... avoid tamiya at all cost, for the price of a tamiya buggy u can get so much more even used chassis
Sounds good … 2nd hand buggies can be a bargain

I want to drive indoors also, I found they have a track near me, so to start with I'll fit my old TRF201 with some more modern electronics, and then hopefully I like it enough to actually invest in a more modern machine, good fun!

Stotfold and Herts run outdoors winter and summer series if you ever fancy astro as well as carpet. Most guys run around a 7.5t in 2wd these days.

I had a B3 and it had a gorgeously painted body on it and it's too bad I don't have it anymore.

@@PopalongRC I like to tell you the story sometime we should get an email together and contact one another and I can tell you the story but all I can tell you is that if you get Arizona drinks in the United Kingdom they had a lot more flavors than they have out today and I asked for stickers that they put on their bottles and I've had one put on my B3 and I had a color coordinated to those stickers and it was gorgeous.
Poor little hot shot☹️😁 still love mine to bits and run a 12t brushed👍, I used to race a Schumacher topcat back in the olden days as a kid at Fenton manor Staffordshire and loved it loads 👍👍
Nostalgia there is nothing like the Hotshot for me … but the driving experience is something else
@@PopalongRC the driving I watched on popalong iconic with the hotshot was amazing for me (Carl driver mark laughing)🤣but the hotshots are a bit wiggly to say the least at speed or on tight tracks but iconic was the theme👍 great though especially when up against newer Tamiya's and Schumacher cougars and I think if I remember a topcat!!(maybe at Broxtowe!!) Plus other beautiful old RC buggies 👍. Let's see the associated built and raced but only 1 buggy who's driving?🤔👍👍

The B6.4 is on my wish list, but my magic skills aren't so good. Currently running a secondhand B6/B6.3 mashup. I have only been racing for a year but pushing into top half of the leader boards at my various venues around Kent. 7.5turn motor is a good sweetspot for speed and torque on tight indoor astro and fast carpet.
Good to know we are still thinking about motor options so will bare that in mind
U will love it 2wd buggys are the best we race in carpet but every month bury metro do a cork track , its sketchy as fuck .really good fun

Just got back into 2wd with my B4. Holds up OK in lower heats but don't stand a chance against the new stuff
Good to know as we have a few older cars we are considering using throughout 2023
@Popalong RC no problem. Giving it another go this weekend. Main issue is that it's high grip indoor carpet and the motor hanging out the backside isn't optimal in that situation. Also the ride height even with no preload is higher than what the modern stuff can get down to.
Back when I last ran it many moons ago the track was mixed surface and lower grip. Personally I don't like the concept of "off road" on 100% High grip carpet - seems to defeat the off road aspect and turn it into glorified TC with jumps
@@mikepembo8297 totally agree with the touring car with jump idea as the carpets are pristine compared to running on grass and dirt. I have another rear motor car I will be testing soon so I am not expecting too much.
That XX and B2 are really nice, they'll be alot of fun to race at the revival. Any ideas which revival you'll do, BMR or Oswestry? I usually do the BMR one with my XX and XX4. Usually ends up being the only off-road I do all year but always enjoy it. Good luck with the B6.4 build 👍

The b3 and the tamiya sand viper...both fun 2wd buggies. Sadly, a clean b3 is now pricey and the tamiya is pricey as they always are (a brushed kit for more than some brushed rtrs)

@@PopalongRC you should have put a brushless or a lower turn brushed motor in it then it livens up trust me even though I had a 4,600 in my super hot shot I even got two runs out of it because I think something the shaft on the castle system was too long and it may have caused some strange vibration to cause it to eat it counter gear but take a look you see that they can be fast.
I could but don’t think they are designed for that so probably would not last a race ..
Agree, these Assos are realy great buggies. Still missing my RC10 from 96. It was really hard to get here back in those days. But time went on, different interests and Ebay was new...

I thought they were in the sevens as far as team associates were concerned you know how you say 6.4 I thought they were like 7.4.

You didn't spec radio? Here all the fast guys are Sanwa or Futaba w/preference to Sanwa for dropped down wheel placement in buggy class. Spektrum have fallen a bit back. More of a basher radio now. DYG have a bearing pref? Rubber or metal sealed? Used Ceramic yet? 6-8T will be mental. I've run 10T factory custom motors in on road & that was too fast. Personally I'm happy in Blinky class or stock. You've got to do a top speed run once it's built. Q with a 6-8T brushless won't it overheat if you dial the timing back? Def buy or make a Popalong under chassis protector. I'm building up a Schumacher 2wd buggy while watching your efforts. Cheers.

Mark is Futaba but given all my receivers I’ve stuck with Spektrum
Maybe something to consider in the future though
I started with Futaba in the late 80s and still use Futaba today. They have never let me down unlike some of the lower end brands out there.

Hi SnarkyRC. I agree Futaba is usually the king of radio systems & definitely easiest to find. I'm looking for actual latency response & "feel"/comfort opinions & servo speed #s finally building up an entirely new setup. I've used Futaba radios my entire RC life starting in nitro airplanes & 12rh scale RC cars -1 season of off-road Kyosho nitro racing due to sponsor conflict back then. Now I see a lot of Sanwa systems in the upper tier/Pro hands @ track & online. Consensus opinion is the adjustable drop down wheel on Sanwa are more comfortable & better during 8 minute off road heats. I'm trying to stay with only 1-2 Tx's as I'm looking @ 1/8/ large scale on/off nitro road racing as well for the Summer/future & looking @ switching back to a 2 stick Tx setup instead of a Wheel Tx. Quite a few Europe/Asia Pros use a 2 stick radio with great success ever since the 70's in all classes I've found through research & old RC car mag articles. The argument is 2 stick Tx's are more input accurate & easier to replicate input lap after lap than wheel & trigger Tx's. Obviously I'd like to find the fastest/strongest servo response as well thus my latency response.
& Yes I'm this thorough, logical & pedantic in 90% of life. 🤨😊 Would you want a sloppy Barrister, Dr, Surgeon or Accountant? 🙀 Thanks for your reply. I've been borrowing various Tx's to test @ the track when able & of course Futaba has a new 10? Ch. high-end wheel radio out.
