"Is there any lore for why Mr. X wears a hat?"
He didn't have one in the original RE2, but in remake, they explain it away as the the trench coat and hat were meant to make him blend in to human society more easily despite being a giant, hulking, monstrosity. Or, at least that's what capcom is saying now.
His trench coat stops him from mutating (when it's gone and Leon fks him up he mutates into super tyrant), the hat is probably just to complete the outfit and cover his face.
@@swaggadash9017 - that's precisely what it is. Umbrella intended the Mr. X Tyrants to be covert bows in the field. Given Tyrants have grey skin, and dont talk, I wonder if the full production line would have been dressed up to resemble M.I.B

The hat design was a scrapped design from the original.
And yeah, the canon reason in the remake is that he's supposed to blend in easier.
Lore wise: it helps the tyrants blend in a little easier when in certain situations.
Aside that. He likes his fucking hat. He dont need a damn reason. Mr X is permitted to enjoy at least 1 thing for himself. God damn.
13:54 I don't know if this is official lore but Mr. X is meant to blend in with a crowd to a certain extent, and the hat helps with that. They drop him in to conflict zones like Raccoon City to accomplish his objective and you as a civilian are panicking from the zombies are not going to pay the sort of attention you normally would to someone that tall. Or it could just be because it looks dope.
The trench coat is also used as a mutation limiter which is why after he is damaged enough he mutates into "Super Tyrant".
Yeah, this. More specifically, they stated that it's meant to make him blend in more from a distance. They admitted that his disguise wouldn't work at all up close.
@@PlanetNateGaming yeah this is about right, i heard that without the trenchcoat, he would sporadically begin mutating when taking any form of damage, hence why the trenchcoat is bulletproof as its so strong
@@PlanetNateGaming It's actually a bit of both. Disguise from a distance and the coat deters mutation. He also doesn't just become super Tyrant when it comes off, that was in result to Leon damaging him past his limits whilst the coat was off.
It is cryptic reference to the real men in black, that have been seen with black hats, suits and cars - looking rather artificial than human.
I always put Marvin out of his misery. It's the ethical choice

Always save a flame round / magnum bullet for him, he helped us so much even as he agonizingly dies he deserves no less.

Magnum is more painless. I can't bring myself to burn him.
if I remember right, the ammo crafting is based on the dynamic difficulty that the developers put in the game. While at lower HP you have a higher chance of getting more ammo.
@L0gicz Could be; if that's the case i'll start keeping tabs on ammo; put them together and if i have alot of ammo that starts making a 20 bullet gunpowers turn into anything less; then i guess that'd make sense on the difficulty curvel
@L0gicz it isn't *just* based on health, but health does affect it.
being hit lowers it, being in the dying state slowly drains it, dying (and hitting continue instead of going to the main menu) lowers it a TON.
Killing an enemy raises it, scoring an instant kill raises it, hitting weak points raises it, crafting ammo raises it (which is one reason you'll get less and less ammo).
I'm pretty sure the Adjusting Difficulty slider s actually de-actvated in Hardcore, I think it only applies to assisted and standard
Is low HP in any way related to high crit rates? never seen so many critical shots in a single game. Got me wondering.
Not at all. It's because he isn't moving his character and waits for the crosshair to shrink. Those slow shots cause more damage and have a higher chance of scoring a critical hit, on top of better accuracy.
That's how they've honored old aiming style in OG Resident Evils. You get rewarded for staying in place and being patient with your shots.
@Edit1 - Apparently I was wrong, and since the game adjusts the AI in accordance to how you're doing, running around with low HP would actually make the game easier, by e.g increasing crit chance.
@Clock Tower ah yes I figured that out fast in my first playthrough, did it help me? No I still missed a bunch of shots lol. But atleast the ones that did hit were crits. 😂
I have heard talk about the game's dynamic difficulty. Not sure if it affects critical hits but if anyone knows, let me know as well.
I think it does. The game run a Difficulty Adjustment AI that makes the game easier when you're doing bad, usually reducing enemy HP and slowing their AI, so it's possible that it also increases critical hit chance. Since Trance spent the entire run at 1HP, the DA AI probably made the game easier in response.

Doing the whole run without saving is insane! Congratulations
As a child I used to play the original RE3 all the way through without saving, it's a short game so once you know what you're doing running through it without saving isn't that hard.
Ye.. I struggle to get a S+ on Hardcore casually.. What a legend, amazing job dude!
This is actually a challenge I (kind of) did myself. Of course, I didn't add all the additional challenges besides the fact that you're constantly in danger mode healthwise. But at one of my playthroughs, when trying to get some records and achievements done, I thought: hmm, what if I could get the below 14k steps challenge AND the no healing items challenge?
And then I got hurt badly right at the beginning of the RPD. But I decided to still try to get those achievements, and I actually did. I even got the achievement for getting an S rank on standard difficulty - so that was fun. It was challenging for me, but really fun. I learned new things about the game and developed my own strategies. Perhaps there were more efficient ones out there, but it was a lot of fun doing that and figuring stuff out on my own!
So, when I then saw the title of this video, having seen some of your other runs, I already knew that a challenge like that would be very much doable for you :D

@ I just tried this myself with all the same rules and my god it’s way harder than I anticipated. I mean I knew it was gonna be hard but at times it literally seems impossible. The no saving is an absolute killer

Developers really underestimate their player base. I mean, what about the dude who did all the souls games plus bloodborne in a row without getting hit a single time. This would be cheesecakes for a dude like that. For someone who has done plenty of challenge runs himself, this doesn't seem too impossible.

Not really. The vast majority of players will buy the game, play it maybe once or twice, and will never touch it again. Only a hand full of people really do challenge runs.
Next speed-run fix patch: Introduce random guaranteed/unavoidable damage taken.
IE The boss just decides to ignore all your damage/stuns until it lands a hit on you, which you cannot dodge (for example, because boss moves at 300% speed).
That is how I would balance the game anyway. Enough randomness to make such exploit-based-wins impossible but not too much to the point of the game requiring no learning curve and luck only.
If I can offer you a piece of advice, dont let others take your enjoyment or your want to play a game with some friends on stream. If you want to play Elden ring play it, everyone gets clapped in souls like games so dont sweat that. The haters are more than likely watching for pointers on how to get past certain things in the game anyway. Good job on the run, feels like ages ago since you helped everyone clear re2 for all the time challenge rewards lol

I love the Hollow Knight music. One of my favorite games of all time. Things like these challenges are so fun to watch. Another example is like what lilaggy does with dark souls and sekiro where like he's poisoned the whole run. The decently long videos but arent too long are amazing.

I realised at 20:30 that the song is Song of the Ancients from Nier??? I've been learning the lyrics for the past month and i was like "wait... I know this melody..." And cranked up the volume which lead to me discovering this was not, in fact, RE2 audio??? I was confused XD

In a way, spending the whole run on 1 hp helped him thanks to the Dynamic Difficulty Slider. It made crits more numerous, reduced enemy aggro & health, gave more ammo etc.
Granted it's not exactly equal to being 1-shot at all times but still XD

I really wish this game used the armored zombie more than once. It's such an 'oh fuck~' moment the first time you see him, and~ then the game just forgets it introduced a new enemy type. It's weird.
I think the only other time that zombie appears in the game is during the part where you run to the police station for some reason
