  • Following on from Steam Incorporated's 50th birthday trips in June 2022, a joint trip was organised on Saturday 6th August 2022 with the Glenbrook Vintage Railway, to further celebrate Steam Inc's anniversary and the many years of friendship between the two groups. The excursion ran from Paekakariki to Raurimu & return, and was a diesel powered triple header in the form of DBR 1254 & Da's 1410 & 1431, with a total of 20 carriages - the biggest passenger train New Zealand has seen for many years! This video captures the weekend's activities and the sweet sights & sounds of the three 2-stroke EMD's, working hard together up the steeply graded sections of the North Island Main Trunk!

Boarded the train at Feilding. It was a great day out for me, the highlight being the photo run by at the horseshoe curve.
The 3 locos sounded awesome under power. Thank you Steam Inc and GVR.

They should bring back that classic fruit salad livery and NZR logo from the late 70s & 80s.

Nice compilation. By the way, you rendered this wrong, notice the 'double' image! Advice for next time, the quality is not sharp now :)

Puxa vida!

Why is Kiwi Rail not going through to Taumarunui, Taumarunui needs tourism in there district please explain.

This excursion wasn't going all the way up to Taumarunui so that's why it didn't go that far up. Feilding Steam Rail do run trips up there so look out for them!

Kiwirail has to run to a charter that prevents them from such a risky destination.
