We Found THE BEST Old Forester Bourbon - The President's Choice

- The President's Choice is a single barrel Bourbon that comes out from time to time through the Old Forester Distillery. The expression goes all the way back to 1890 when President of the Old Forester Distillery, George Garvin Brown (yeah, the Birthday Bourbon guy), gifted a single barrel of Bourbon to the Governor of Kentucky. In 1964, G.G.B. the 2nd, then President of Old Forester, brought the concept back and called it The President's Choice as the single barrel of Bourbon was labeled and bottled only for presidents or executives of other companies. This program lasted until 1971 but was eventually brought back as an expression that is available to the public. The bottle that we are trying is the 66th single barrel to be released, is 9.83 years old, and is 110.3°.

Old Forester has released President's Choice twice so far this year through their online shop. I was lucky to grab a 7 year old and now I will have to have a pour tonight, great video you two!
I happened upon this for their online release on the same day and felt so fortunate to procure a bottle of 57 and I cannot wait!

Hey Chad, I spoke you in line as you were leaving. I was able to get a batch 67 and it was excellent as well. I'm glad you guys loved it! I've seen them online on the occasional holiday and around Derby they were randomly available in the gift shop. I've missed it by minutes a handful of times, so happy to finally get one.

Got to meet Sara at the Railbird Music Festival! Was nice enough to come over to get a selfie in the rain! Missed Chad. Anyway, I loved Chad's reaction to this tasting. I find myself laughing as I taste an amazing pour like Chad did at 5:25. Love you guys!! Keep up the good reviews. On my Kentucky trip recently I got to taste some really good stuff and came home with a few good bottles to boot.

I don't care that people who talk about bourbon for a living can go get rare bourbon.
I do however think it's wild that bourbon people have preferences between lotteries and rushing to a location to get in a long line and hope for the best.
Because I don't want that for any product. If a product has about 1% of the demand available for sale and only in one place, then I simply don't care about that product.
I thought this years version tasted too much of a golden corral buffet. For me I found that the four roses 135 to be best of the year so far.

I’m pretty sure the presidents choice is cask strength, just not the jet fuel proof of King of Kentucky. Similar to proof levels of Michters Barrel proof. I would agree with you, besides King (which uses early times mash bill) this is the best that old Forester puts out
You and hundreds of other people. One of the guys at my St. Louis bourbon club landed 2 because his daughter went down and they let her buy two before father's day. Just NUTTY how much insane whiskey you can land living in the Louisville area. She is a student there and lands unicorns every single week for her dad. Probably spending $1000-$1500 a month but every bottle is a unicorn.
I understand the idea of covering the whiskey... but you really should let it fully breath on a fresh crack. If the glass is gonna sit for an hour or two, sure but a high proof fresh crack really needs 30 minutes in glass before that first sip IMO.
