We as citizens have the right to secure in our persons and papers against unreasonable searches and surveillance
...back in the day of telephone booths in public, the booth or dome inferred privacy though in public it was not free to surveil any and all traffic without a focused warrant. Also, data collected outside of the warrent was to be deleted or destroyed within usually 48 hours. For illegal and overreaching surveillance to prevail, it's the duty of the public to challenge the validity and reasonableness; just because the government does these things or simply says we can, doesn't make it so or legal.

Yup they can. In 2014 I took my girlfriends car to pick up my mom from the airport. She landed at 1130pm. I got pulled over by a police car to my right at an intersection, as in I was going north and he was on the other street heading west. The scanner took the front plate...while I was MID intersection he flashed the lights. Pulled me over because as of 1200 midnight my girlfriend's insurance expired. IT WAS 1203! But no ticket, and no impound of car etc. For some reason that only applies if it is YOUR car. So...somehow it was a good thing that I was the one driving it🤷‍♂️. But yes most definitely it checks insurance, registration, license being up to date etc.

In 2020 in Maryland you had to have the new license in Maryland before you’ve had to renew it every four years now every eight years but it has facial recognition software once you’re in the computer cameras to see you will you let them know who you are no matter if you’re doing anything or not

It’s a no win situation. The right to privacy or security. I can agree with Mr. Mass that the cams violate our privacy. I also agree with police. Let’s say a robber breaks into your home and destroys your life. The cameras follow the robbers to a specific area and police arrests them. That’s a good thing. But then we argue it’s a privacy issue. Security is a no win with people.

These cameras were instrumental in catching two murder suspects in Lauderdale by the Sea. They robbed and executed my friend as he walked the two blocks from work to his girlfriends apartment.

Our privacy and our rights have been violated and will continue to be they are just going to keep coming up with excuses as to why so no one gets sued but let's face it it's not just our cars they know our every move and location through phones social media and just about everywhere we go we are on camera

If it can be seen from a public point of view it’s not invasion of privacy. Further more if you don’t want your plates to be recorded just search online there’s plenty of solutions to cover your license plate. My personal favorite is one that blast infrared light all around your plates, to the naked eye there is nothing there but to a camera it picks up the infrared and all that shows in the video is a huge blob of light making your plate unreadable.
