- Snowy owls are an iconic species of the Arctic. Animal world of the Arctic. Birds of prey.
Snowy owl (named Didi) nest. Warm summer night in the Arctic. Didi laid 9 eggs in spring. Now she has 8 owlets of different ages. The younger ones are still small, helpless and blind - the female must warm them. The older ones are already quite independent for thermoregulation and can themselves warm the younger ones. Owls begin incubation by laying their first egg. Therefore, their owlets can have a big difference in age and size. In this nest, the older one hatched 18 days earlier than the younger one and has already eaten several dozen lemmings.
Mom flew away. There are three youngest chicks in the nest and two more are in sight. We are watching them
The elder owlets "collaborating" on keeping the younger siblings warm. This is rather cute 😁☺️

Какие милые совята, пушистые, меховые как будто, нетвердо ещё держатся на лапках, но стараются быть самостоятельными 😍 Как почёсывал совёнок свою мохнатую голову, лизнул лапку - но тут я вспомнила, что у него клюв 😅 И ещё рядом утки гага, вон их длинные шеи, я их бы и не заметила, не пролети рядом одна утка. Как совята поначалу приняли защитную позицию, как думаю, когда прилетела мама Диди... Спасибо большое за такое чудесное видео! 💖🌱

i never see an owl chic bonking her brother , they are very disciplined in feeding , they are very sweet with her mum and brothers etc etc ,,,,

Спасибо за ваш вопрос! Полярные совы выводят птенцов не каждый год. Их размножение зависит от численности грызунов в разных районах Арктики. Если уж они приступили к гнездованию, то это будет только одно размножение в году. На Севере, где они размножаются, теплый период длится недолго
