I have a few of these lower tier (cheap) KZs. I like the ZVX, Krilla and Castor, and even the EDXS. But all these KZs, I find, only has a small SPL window where they play well. Push it more loudly and the coherency starts to quickly unravel and so too the grip (dynamics). Well, we should we thankful we have good sounding IEMs at these base prices. I recall my old Shure, costing USD 300 six years ago, would not even share the same drawer with these modern marvels today.
@@donglemadness Are they not getting better with this? My ESX fell apart beyond about mid volume, the ZVX I just bought is good to a pretty high volume, like, kenceng sekali, masih bersih. Although I haven't had them long..

Frank Miller here Andy from the UK May I ask a dongle question as you are the Dongle King. I recently got the Qudelix 5K when I use it with UAPP PRO NO tracks will play in bit perfect mode. All of my other Dongles play 95 percent of the tracks in Bit Perfect mode. I am using with Samsung s20 and Nokia 3.4 . Really enjoyed this KZ review everything explained perfectly. Keep well. Frank
Hey Frank. Unfortunately I have zero knowledge on Qudelix 5K so I can't even begin to imagine what would be the issue. 5K is not a simple DAC/Amp so it could be anything, perhaps some settings you need to play with?
I am still researching the AS24 .. With the advent of the new ultralinear DD and the new BAs, being used in the zsn pro 2 which just came out, I am hoping they will use these new drivers for something interesting, like a Zs10 Pro 2 or upgraded ZAT or As24... So I got the zsn pro 2 to listen for a few months on my rotation. See what I think later.. Any opinions, from anyone, will be appreciated. Your review is really helpful. I would really like to see a review of the Zas maybe even compare to the other hybrids in that series
i have the kz as24 with tuning switches and really like it. i don't find it rich or warm at all, quite the opposite. clean and transparent. but with the versatility provided by the switches. with everything switched off i find upper mids a bit up front and the treble slightly rolled off.
Just got the castor silver and for the price it really punches above its pricepoint, quite sad that KZ has horrible reputation in the audio community, the good ones like castor is getting ignored lol.
While castor on paper is harder to drive, when you feed it enough power the mids detach from highs and both become frankly unbearable. They are fantastic for the price especially under lower volume, but the quality of the smaller DD is questionable.

@@Exert145 All off. No boosting. The limit of its transparency is innate to the tuning, DF-i and Krila in comparison is natively more transparent and accurate with least amount of coloration
I did mentioned towards the end that Krila and DF-i are similarly tuned and technically similar too. Castor is different because it is Harman curved, designed to suit different taste
To me yes, Castor is better than Salnotes Zero, Castor is properly more balanced tuning of Harman curve and with pleasing smoothness while amply analytical
Easy. I always choose Tanchjim ZERO over tons of other IEMs I have, only Final Audio A5000 and Hidizs MP145 I will prefer more over Zero. Yes I am utterly biased in my preferences to Tanchjim ZERO

Does it warm up with the bass switched up?
