- "But she doesn't look like you. We have lots of other dolls that look more like you."
It was those words that came from a Target cashier in that made Brandi Benner angry.
Benner was shopping with her 2-year-old daughter Sophia to celebrate the toddler's big potty training milestone.

Oh, you’re Black*? AND a Girl*? Get ready for people to put you over them. I’m White and a Girl, but no. Just because I’m not dark means that I’m Racist* and “I’m apart of the people who bought slaves.”
Maybe if we didn’t talk about- and then there’s ASIANS! Asians are only apart of it because their from a different *race* not *color.*

So shut up about your Race. And I’m* sick of people shouting out “I AM A GIRL!” Every second.

Arson- A act of slaughter in which buildings are burnt
Asians- People of a curtain race that usually come from Asian countries like China and South Korea. Mostly people who are white.
White- A person with lighter skin tone that usually has blonde hair and blue eyes
I’m- I Am.
I- A signal suggesting the person speaking
Sexually- a term for Girls and Boys
Racist- Against a certain group of Race
This immediately reminded me of a sad experience when I was little. I loved to color and had colored some of the people in my coloring book dark brown (this was back in the early 1960's). I was very fond of our housekeeper and her skin was that color and I was not yet old enough to be taught to hate. It just seemed to be a normal thing to me to color people like the lady I loved who was always kind to me. My mom was livid and tore those pages out of my coloring book. I’ve had cashiers comment on how many carrots I bought, read my greeting cards, criticize me for returning pants that were too long instead of altering them myself, ask me lots of times if this or that is good, but never something that blatantly inappropriate. The carrot thing was funny tho, because I just bought one carrot, and she just had one arm. And she looks to the bagger and snidely says, who buys just one carrot? And I thought, yeah it’s weird when there’s just one of something when there’s usually more, but I didn’t say it because society hadn’t completely crumbled back then like it has now. I never saw ol one arm again so she was probably rude to lots of people.
This girl sounds like she will be a motivational speaker.
or a doctor like her doll
To me it sounds like she's going to be a doctor lol
She’s gonna be a docker 😂
Eh she wants to be a doctor but who knows?
ARMY Forever!! Lmao true, and ARMY? 🤗💜
"She's a pretty girl and I'm a pretty girl." YES and YES!!!! This toddler just proved that hatred is something that's learned, not inherent. And let's hope that's a lesson she never learns! Beautiful girl, inside and out! :)

Breaking News: Racism rate drops to 0

This is so pure
Let's all be a little more like this lovely girl.
Perfect example of how people are not born to hate, hate is taught.
and then you follow it
@JediFlavored Soap he said nothing about race ! Only you did. He merely said hate is instinctive. Then you turn it all around and call him a bigot? How so ?
Jason S I agree with Jedi. He was clearly defending bigotry as in context this video is about race.

Wow that cashier wouldn’t let her be a kid without being racist
Question Everything she can say whatever so stop making a ESA and causing drama
Question Everything if a kid is just getting a doll why even question them ? It’s a toy ! Does it matter what color ?
Rihanna_x_angles Rocraft you’re really going to question an innocent child over the color of a toy ?
Question Everything *sigh*
Oh no I was saying she was writing a ESA over your opinion
When I was young, they didn't make dolls that looked like me. So I had to play with "white dolls" but honestly as a child I didn't think anything of it🤷🏾♀️
You forget that white people need international news segments to be made about them to prove how amazing they are that they're not racist. I myself am white, and therefore not the person to get offended by this, but I kind of find the way this story is told to actually be a little racist to me just in the way it's so self-congratulating and perpetuating white saviour complexes.
@@sia7051 this video isn’t about wether she was white or not. The cashier was being racist and the little girl wasn’t having any of it. If it was a little black girl with a white doll I think it would been just as interesting. Just because it’s about a white person it doesn’t mean it’s racist.
@@rachelcookie321 then why isn’t the cashier being exposed? It’s just a story to show these incredible white peoples and doing the bare minimum in an everyday situation that doesn’t warrant the amount of media attention this has received
"She's a doctor like I'm a doctor and She's a pretty girl and I'm a pretty girl" 😍😍😭😭😍😍
Children are pure and “colorblind”, it’s the adults that put racist thoughts in their minds.
Great comment. I wouldn’t say color blind, pure yes but I understand what you mean. They are usually fair and impartial.
Linda’s Channel well come to think of it, even though “colorblind” society is not one we are striving for, since it erases the past of oppressed groups of people, children who have not yet been taught these histories could actually be called “colorblind” in a positive light, for not letting skin color get in the way of their opinions and choices!
FurAn'Rabbits it’s actually what I’d perfer
@@furanrabbits I'm a grown adult, and I do refer to myself as colorblind. I don't see myself any different than anybody else in regards to race. I just think it's time to mature as a species, and quit harassing people over the color of their skin.

This girl stood up to a racist bully at that store and it's great that she chose the doll on her own and not based on it looking like her.
FromtheMudd419, yeah! I'm so proud of her.
Ha ha ha
yea about two years ago when i was 11. i had a biracial baby doll and it was a boy. the lady was like. is this your doll ? and i was like yeah. and she was like. but he doesn’t look like you. and i was like yeah but he’s cute. and she said. well that’s weird.
500th like love this
Lana Loud did you had fun with your doll?( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Its a joke bruh
This is why kids are so pure.
That’s a child that has exceptional parents and a beautiful background, points for that family. I hope the target person learned from that
Wow imagine a toddler being more educated than an adult

Fatonya Mitchell but he isn’t educated enough to believe climate change and covid-19 it’s he own fault he got corona. He’s also racist, sexist and mocks people’s conditions there for he’s a shitty president im sure that america could find a new president that is respectful and responsible unlike trump
That cashier should get fired I loved that little girls response
You do realize that all of this is based on hearsay, correct? There's no actual proof that this happened. The mother probably was one of those women who likes to brag about how woke her child is on Facebook, and it just happened to go viral. I'll bet the cashier didn't even take notice of the doll
Elana Vital What she’s saying is based off the ‘facts’ in this video. She’s saying that is the cashier actually did that they should be fired.
@@ElanaVital83 I worked at a Walmart and the people that work there can most definitely be racist towards customers and employees. And the customers towards the employees. Racism knows no bounds.
Shishter Sasha that person better get fired
@@nuggets2.057 I agree. While it came off as a bad thing to say, there is no proof that they actually intended to be racist. Some kids really like getting dolls that look like themselves, and maybe they meant it more as a suggestion or a fun idea. What they say definitely could have been racist, I'm not trying to sugar coat it. But there's no proof this happened, and we don't know their side of the story. I don't think being fired is really necessary.
This truly bought tears to my eyes just a beautiful story. Love .Shame on that cashier for suggesting that the child pick another doll just because it doesn't look like.
Well done little one you showed all of us the way to go. such love for your dolly, I used to have a coloured doll when I was young I truly treated her the same as my other dolls didn't notice the different coloured skin at all, It was our neighbour who was from the Carribean who gave the doll to me she hadn't looked different we were I now know a very cosmopolitan street and we all lived happily together so I don't understand the difficulty people have now days at all
That little girl has more common sense than a lot of adults.she is adorable
Racism is taught to children by adults. Many of our great doctors come from India.
@@kenmarriott5772 That's very true
@Cosmic sudrrs Just hope n pray we all get a chance to get along, cause naturally we all going through the same daily task. And that daily task is trying to survive and make it day to day,and bleed the same color. RED 💯💯

@Hether Johnson .👍👍👍👍
When a little kid scolds you on discrimination, you lost.
LOL. So true!
Lol
Lol right
There was no discrimination by anyone. The cashier just asked, out of curiosity, perhaps. She never scolded or shamed the girl for choosing a black doll.
dtrtus cay Right, because when a white kid grabs a black doll, and you ask them “Don’t you want to grab a doll that looks like you?”, there is nothing in between the lines, right?
Congratulations to her parents for the way they are raising there daughter. To be a respectable human being.
Such a awesome story. You’re raising your baby right!! Lots of love.
This same cashier wouldn’t say this to a little black girl who wanted a white doll!
No, she'd probably just snatch the doll away from her.
I think that she would let the black girl have it so she can want to be like it
So true.
That's because lot's of non white little girls are more likely to choose a white or lighter skinned doll.
@@enolamsamoht um, they're most likely to choose those dolls because that is what's in stock. dolls didn't start to diversify until maybe the 2000s but even then those dolls were usually limited edition for a set period of time. white dolls are marketed to everyone, non-white dolls are marketed to a specific demographic. Every now and then there are black dolls made after tv shows that may transcend that marketing bubble like Doc McStuffins but she's specific to 10 and under crowd.
And just like that, we learn that this little girl is already smarter than that cashier.
🤣
I hope the little girl's mom told the owner or manager about what happened.
🤣 yup, that is why she is a cashier.
💯
@Christopher Vice what exactly do you mean by look more like her? She is a pretty girl, the doll is a pretty girl. What is different?
I'll take 'Things That Didn't Happen' for five thousand, please.
Awesome parent's for raising her this way.
