    @chambeet Před 5 lety +7

    Jordan did his from behind the free throw line in ‘85, but he didn’t pump it like he did the ‘87 and ‘88 ones. I personally prefer the ‘85 one, just because I think it’s cool to do it from actually behind the line, but clearly he’s more remembered for the later ones (and I think those got higher scores).

    Wilt Chamberlain did a legitimate behind the line dunk before any of them. He is the reason the NBA changed to rule for in-game free throws requiring a behind the line finish. With more total length than Yao Ming, his vertical and horizontal did not have to be nearly as much as the players in this vid, but he is the one who actually did it first.

    @mrmacross Před 5 lety +3

    These are all good in their own right. Dr. J pioneered it. Jordan dribbled, so only his would be in game legal (plus he added a small flourish). Lavine's windmill and east bay are the most visually impressive. And credit Ibaka for doing one legit.

    Jordan actually has done one where his toes are on the line. Ibaka isn't the farthest btw. Look up Mike Conley's (Yeah the NBA player Mike Conley's dad who happened to be a longjumper) free throw line dunk. And James White has easily taken off with his whole foot behind the line multiple times so.

  • @15lesson

    Zach Lavine is the most underappreciated dunker in nba history. He could literally give pro dunkers a run for their money in a dunk contest. He makes his difficult dunks look easy. People doesn't appreciate him cuz of the robbery in 2016. To be completely honest, he deserved that win as much as Aaron Gordon.

    • @hiit-itxr-fitness1962
      @hiit-itxr-fitness1962 Před 2 lety

      I think Aaron Gordon is *precisely* why Lavine is "underappreciated". (I don't think so; he's got a good amount of hype and respect.) Those cheering chants about Gordon getting his Dunk Contest win robbed (FOR SURE happened in 2020) puts a bit of distaste on Lavine's '16 run.
      Now, if we're talking about Lavine dunking in season games, just look at the roster of the Bulls. They ALL playing and dunkin quite well

  • @user-ej9ub6wl5l
    @user-ej9ub6wl5l Před 3 lety

    Jordan was the only one out of the three that dribbled the ball. That's why he was slower than Doctor J. He did it like an in-game dunk. (No travelling or double-dribble) If I remember it correctly, Pip was the only other player who did it while dribbling. Josh Smith tried to dribble in 2006 contest but gave up after he fumbled it like two dribbles in.
    Incidentally, Pip's dunk was also among the furthest free-throw line dunks, although I think he got only 45 or 47. I always thought it was because the dunk looked a bit stiff due to his long arms, and also because it was 1990. People had already seen Doctor J, Nique and MJ, so they needed something with a bit more flare. Which is why the dunks progressively keeps getting more difficult.

    the guy just blew his ACL, he's never going to be able to dunk the same way, don't get me wrong, he'll probably still be an elite dunker, but i'm pretty sure he lost some of his hops.

    • @Maruiti
      @Maruiti Před 7 lety +4

      You talking about a guy that all he does is basicaly dunking zach lavine is a basktball player, he is not gonna recover and be like: "oh yeah I need to be able to windmill from the freethrow line again", most nba players when they torn their acl's they usualy lose some of their hops for good just because dunking is not that important really, I mean, the guy had a 44' vertical, already won 2 dunk contests, I'm pretty sure he cares more about improving his overall game now than flashy dunks, I bet he gonna come back like blake griffin or d-rose, both who can still dunk hard, but choose not to most of the times.

      You talking like I said that these guys get crippled in a wheelchair for life after an ACL injury, I said they lose some hops, that's it, like, Lavine may comeback with a 42" vert, he'll still be an amazing dunker, but some of it goes away usualy, is that difference of looking down on the rim and looking at eye level, guys are still able to do amazing things at eye level.

    mj was slower bc he dribbled
    (edit) and in the 1985 dunk contest he did a " legit " free throw line dunk look it up. and i could make a rant about people not giving mj credit for doing it three times and the first one being " legit " in his rookie season and he was the first person to do it " legit " also look at 1:54 and pause tell me what you see then you can continue your rant about serge ibaka

    While Jordan's iconic free throw dunk is his best dunk, Vince doing free throw line dunks for practice and charity games. If we talkin bout dunks, Vince is the G.O.A.T NBA Dunker. Lavine is just a better one leg leaper and reason is cause he's lighter than VC. I've seen Zach dunk with two legs and it ain't that impressive.
