There is no question the US prison system needs a reform bill. due to overcrowded and mismanaged prisons. many of them are now privatized. It's a specialized law enforcement counter-terrorism tactical unit. It belongs to the Israeli civilian prison system.
The American equivalent would be the federal Bureau of Prisons Special Operations Response Team and the New York City Department of Correction Emergency Service Unit.

As far as I know, the soldiers seen in the video responding to Oct 7 were the Air Force special unit known as “shaldag.” The operators toward the end were from Sayeret Matkal. Although it’s not shown in this video, elite prison response teams in the IDF generally don’t use lethal weapons-they use riot gear and non lethal weapons.

We work critcal positions that require a higher level of security, we are only activated in serious critical life threatening situations, like in a hostage rescue, or preventing prison takeovers, this being the main reason for our existence. Only 3% of all Correctional staff members have what it takes to be an elite response member.
