Had the pleasure of meetin Catfish Dave today. We’re big fishermen from Illinois, and we’re tryna catch whatever would bite I’m the tailwaters of a dam. Dave was there catchin Skipjack like a pro, and he told us some different ways to catch ‘em and how they act depending on the flow. After he left we caught about ten, which was super fun for us as we don’t got skipjack in Illinois. We gave em all to another guy who was fishin for cats later. Wanted to get one for Dave, but he left before we got the hang of it. Catfish Dave’s a standup guy. Never knew of Catfish Dave but I’m a subscriber now. Thanks for teachin us Illinois boys how to catch Tennessee tarpon sir!
Ah the many joys of fishing a little river! " I'll just use that one in the tree to help keep the boat straight, lets throw out a couple more" 😂Love the content Dave! Been there done that! Way to roll with the punches. Sometimes we gotta make chicken salad, out of chicken sh... Keep it coming my brother!
I caught one flathead on a trotline once and he was so different than a blue I chunked him back in. Then I heard a flat head is some of the best fish you can eat next to a sauger or Jack salmon. Been there done that on the birds nest backlashes. Just get out the “sidecutters” as my dad used to say and start cutting
Easy hack for a hook sharpener use two chain saw files taped together and sharpen the hook both sides at once .just drag hook between both files and it is easy to hold given plenty of room to drag your hook on .hope this helps.spray with WD 40 to keep from rusting and place in a pieace of PVC with end caps for storage in the boat !
Dave I'm glad to see that somebody else has problems like that with trees. Well not exactly glad...... Good idea to anchor that boat through the tree.!!! No anger that I can tell turn it into a positive.. Another awesome video sir
I've used a tree sticking out of the water as a poor mans spot lock on my little jon boat before, works great in light current. I just pulled up to it and sank a big treble hook in the tree let out line till I was where I wanted and tightened down my line and drag stayed put all evening.
Once again thanks for the video Dave. I really like the sound quality of your videos lately. Where you wear that Mic seems to pickup your voice well and muffle the surrounding sound. You caught some nice fish and we got to see it. Thanks again for the video I enjoyed it much!
With all that shallow water around at least you did not have to worry about being knocked out of the boat. And you got on some good ones.. Great Vedio.
Too cold yet up here in Michigan. Waiting to get out trolling for Northern Pike, and Muskie. And the occasional Smallmouth Bass. Biggest Muskie so far was 51.5 inches and just over 50lbs so far. Lots of fun avoiding the sharp teeth getting the hooks out.
Hey you guys...i am in WI near Madison. No blues. Some flatheads, but Lake Mendata has some big channel cats. Can you talk, while fishing at home, how ypu would rig and fish for lake channel cats.
If you are not going to keep those big fish 🐠🐟, you wrestle so hard catching them, you should give them to someone That loves fish, want that make you feel Better??¿

Good video ! Nice calm place to fish . God Bless
Never seen a fellow ancor off in the tree branches b4. Seems effective! Great content Dave!
The sky hook came in handy! 😄👍🏼
Dave has come a long way, that new trolling motor probably cost more than all of his old bank fishing equipment did lol.
Yes prosperity that we all envy if you big catfish love the videos Dave keep them coming
“They didn’t have no EYE-talian sandwhiches”

No windsock? No problem for McGiver Dave 😂. Just steady your boat with a nice tree shot cast👍
If the day is gonna be a bust we are all sure cat fish dave can sort it all out👍 👌

@@jameshansen6841He caught two nice Flat head in this video, are you blind ? 😊
I thought sure the tree was going to pull Dave's rod out of the holder!
Always awesome Dave
Came to see Dave, commenting for the algorithm.
This is why I enjoy your channel
👍👍👍👍👍great🎣video Dave. I live about 7 miles from little river by Academy tx you’re little river has a lot more water.
I hope to pass by you on the river someday soon. I’ll make sure and circle your boat a few times before I come in to introduce myself… haha. Jk
There ain't no catfish up in the trees
Cool video brother keep them coming peace out from Ohio Don T
I’m convinced that this is Adam Ray/Dr. Phil. Look into it they sound just alike.

Great going dog. I been missing you barking in a Catfish Dave video!
Yeah, the tree anchor worked pretty well. Nice fish.
Almost 100k subscribers on good old Catfish Dave Channel, I think you had about 22k when I started watching.
Once again thanks for the video Dave. I really like the sound quality of your videos lately. Where you wear that Mic seems to pickup your voice well and muffle the surrounding sound. You caught some nice fish and we got to see it. Thanks again for the video I enjoyed it much!
Awesome job catfish Dave
Thats some good stuff man
Nothing like a tree anchor😂😂😂
It's Carpal tunnel Catfish Dave..lol...
Great show!
That wasn't squirrel fishing, that was fishing for flying fish. They fly higher in East Tennessee.
Your fun to watch lol
Small rivers are the best
Good Ole Catfish Dave strikes again
Hey it kept your boat straight lol
Getting it done Sir!!
#Thereelcatfishdave
I like your hoodie I wear them all the time in the winter
Do ya
@@jerrythomas4457 yea 😂

Genius using the line in tree as anchor
I've done that before many time's lol, Great catch.😂
Great video
Bigger fish than most people will ever catch in a life time. You've spoiled yourself. Lol..
I am watching from Elmira NY I have a lot of success with raw liver when fishing for catfish in the Chemung River
Yes sir they like chicken liver here in East Tn. Too
Get ya some eel. Catfish love eels.

Now thats the way to make the best of a bad situation. If you anchor in the trees the fish can't get in the anchor line.
Damn. I wanted to see you retrieve that tree anchor. Lol.
💞Wow💛💛💗💗💛💗💗
Admit it Dave, you threw that bait in that tree to keep from getting your drift sock out!!
No 1 thing to know about tree fishing. Rescue your tackle ... cut the line from the other end !! Carry On :)
Getter done Dave
And another highly successful outing for Dave. What happened to the cool music though?
Catfish Dave why don't you have a live bait tank at your house. I guess it's harder to keep skipjack alive versus bluegill.
If that hoodie had a zipper in it it would be damn near perfect
first time watchin' Dave fish for tree cats
I thought only my wife could get in the tree and backlash!
What rod did you catch that first fish on?
That microphone you’re using helped a lot
Dave, you look like that proverbial one armed paper hanger in a b-tt kicking contest getting that good one in around all those rods😂
Big catfish tournament on your favorite lake in the next week or so
Making the best out of a bad situation
It's a beautiful hog
adapt, improvise, over come!
Tree fishing! We've all done it.
Thats one way to anchor straight
Morning yall 😎
Mornin!
les go😊
He`s in the tree again
Do you Donate any of your catch to Feed the Hungry in Knoxville Tn?
Made in USA must be an old one
I use 100lb braid and a 50lb mono leader or less I can break off snags and not leave a ton of line behind
Hey you guys...i am in WI near Madison. No blues. Some flatheads, but Lake Mendata has some big channel cats. Can you talk, while fishing at home, how ypu would rig and fish for lake channel cats.
Catfish Dave 100K💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
A little river??? Where I'm at you need a ZTR boat so you don't beach yourself when you turn around.
If you are not going to keep those big fish 🐠🐟, you wrestle so hard catching them, you should give them to someone That loves fish, want that make you feel Better??¿
I gotta say, you seem to get bites when youre trying to eat
Why 7 rods and then catch n release?
