  • Researchers capture video of great white shark off Alabama coast. Video of the 8-foot juvenile shark called Miss Pawla was captured by researchers from the University of South Alabama who were monitoring fish movement near Alabama’s artificial reef zone. Miss Pawla was first spotted with underwater cameras in mid-April during a survey in conjunction with researchers from Mississippi State University and Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Research Institute. She was still roaming the same site 10 days later.

I spend a lot of time in the Gulf, the area between the FL panhandle & Eastern AL. I'm thrilled about this! But then, they are my favorite animal in the world! Question though, about how old would you say an 8 ft GW shark is?

Whites are born at around 4-5 ft, an 8ft is still really young between 2 and 4 years. Males reach maturity at around 3.8m (8-9yo) and then females at around 4.5m (14-16yo).

Between 2 and 4 years old, would that make her too old for us to consider that maybe her presence is due to a nearby nursery?

garrenteed the electro magnetic solar storms we've had the last 3 weeks peeking this last week probably had a bite to do with this.....bitelol, also la nina and el nino, and yes i've heard of GW even down in florida and bahamas. Heck i'm upstate new york and we've had a manatee follow a warm current up from florida all the way to long island. stray currents have even brought whales up the east river. None of this is new just rare.
