  • In this video I will be showing you the process involved in changing the engine oil and filter in this 2000 Kawasaki ZX6R. Remember to check the oil level after your first short ride after completing the oil and filter change. It's a good idea to run the bike with the fairings off for a short period of time to ensure no leaks. Let me know down below if you have any questions.

    Some of the 00-02 Zx6r had oil burping issues. An air lock would happen and oil warning light would not clear. Easiest way is to start the bike and loosen the filter briefly until oil flows. Tighten and top up. A well documented issue amongst forums. Crazy.

    Your videos have been sooo helpful for me after grabbing one of these older zixxers. Helped me learn carburators too! Thank you!

    Hey man I know this is a old video so I’m not sure if I’ll get a response. I have a 06 zzr600 & the engine oil light is on. I’m going to do what you did to see if that fixes it. What is the exact oil you used for this?

    Did you go for mineral, semi-synthetic or fully synthetic? I'm worried the engine will leak if i put fully synthetic in haha!

    • @Calvinm
      @Calvinm  Před 3 lety

      I think it was mineral (non-synthetic) oil. Don’t worry, changing to synthetic oil won’t cause your engine to leak 👍

    How do I buy an oil filter like is there sizing or? I have the same year and model as you btw

    • @Calvinm
      @Calvinm  Před 3 lety

      There isn’t really sizing numbers for a oil filter other than the part number. I would recommend calling your local bike shop and having them order the part in. Or check out revzilla.com or fortnine.ca for parts. Best of luck! 👍

    Just to confirm if the oil is half way in the glass when on kickstand when it stands up the glass is completely full is that bad?

    • @Calvinm
      @Calvinm  Před 3 lety

      It sounds like the engine oil is a little over full. You should be able to see the oil level in the glass circle when the bike is up right (not on the side stand). A little over full isn't the worst thing but certainly not great. Hope this helps, best of luck!

      It was never on the bike when I had it. 🤷‍♂️
