As someone who is moderately autistic and highly introverted, I have been accused of being a psychopath several times. I am deeply sensitive and empathetic, but have never felt comfortable expressing much emotion to people I do not know. Combined with my eccentricity and socio-political contrarianism, this has often led to me being boxed as the outcast, the mad guy, the freak, etc.

I'm in the same boat (ASD). I've been empathetic and caring my entire life, but the rest of society constantly outcasts and abuses me.
I myself am broken from all the harassment, and physical assault. I know these people are my enemies, and I don't feel safe around them at all.
There's a saying, "If you treat someone like a monster, they will become one." This feels true in my current state of life.

One of James Fallon’s (neuroscientist) talks on psychopathy showed a chart on this. It showed that the population of China had the highest frequency per capita of “warrior genes”, the term given to genes thought to be responsible for genetic anti-social traits. The figure on the chart for China was almost double the frequency of the next runner up, being Polynesian Islanders. I wonder if that’s due to selective cultural pressures over China’s long history of isolation from the outside world.

As she said, a psychopath might be born with a genetic predisposition to having little to no empathy, but if raised in a nurturing environment, they can still go on to be productive and harmless...ie a trauma surgeon or an EMT (other professions with higher numbers of them are all high-pressure professions where a lack of empathy is actually a benefit, ie lawyer, chef)

Discipline or a habit rewires the brain into a new set of reward system rules, which environment can affect a person's type of what he values, in turn that determines Discipline forming. It has the power to change your DNA. David Goggins is a prime example of how discipline changes you internally, albeit not in the psychopath sense.

He wanted me to be his mindless slave that did whatever I was told. Only then would I get rewarded with “love” which was just really good acting. Sadly, because I was so starved of love and was completely brainwashed by him, my entire existence was doing everything and anything I could to please him. Just so I could get a taste of affection that I so deeply needed. I repeat. They. Cannot. Love. Take it from someone who tried. Biggest mistake I ever made. Psychopaths are born, and they have a very strong mind-body connection generally if they do not struggle with neurodivergence, meaning, in healthy and connected environments where the family unit thrives and heals together, the child will not develop social or interpersonal aversion, and likely will develop a healthy and balanced psyche and healthy and balanced relationships. It is in adverse, abusive, neglectful and unstable environments that psychopaths "present" these symptoms of being psychopathic ( because the mind is traumatized and the body is merely reacting to the trauma when the connection between the mind and body is made), but only dangerous and very disturbed psychopaths have been studied and analyzed, therefore leaving the vast majority of psychopaths to go unnoticed and not acurrately studied. I do belive the gene for psychopathy is passed from mother to son, and father to daughter, and these relationships between them can prove to be extremely contentions and neurologically charged to the point of being very dangerous. I have always given my father a wide berth when he becomes triggered mentally by something or someone (typically me if I am too inquisitive, which I was as a child, because I was trying to learn how to feel), and this has helped our relationship tremendously. I do think psychopaths have the ability to mentally train themselves to stay in physical spaces that create mental discomfort, but it is very difficult and typically very dangerous for their family.

I’m not sure I agree that you can be friends with them or that they are quite productive. I think they just aren’t getting caught manipulating people and harming them. And I scored 0 on the testing for psychopathy . Which did not surprise me. I’m not wired to manipulate.

I always got confused by the mental health diagnoses….I was told that I have Borderline Personality Disorder and C-PTSD, however, with time…they added ASPD as a comorbid condition.
My childhood stands out as psychopathic though….but the doctors suggest that a Borderline cannot be a psychopath. I disagree strongly. I was a messed up kid and how can you explain that at the age of three???
I don’t think I would have been coherent enough to process my abuse yet, unless me being given up by my birth mother, as an infant, had something to do with it. Maybe there was like a Dexter effect and it messed me up before my developmental years. I remember harming animals to the point that I got beaten and punished, hating kids and being jealous of them, hurting kids physically…I got kicked out of jimboree (or whatever) for throwing a child off the top of a slide. I also got kicked out of preschool for grabbing the back of my friend’s head and shoving a Lego into her forehead until she bled. I was a biter, a kicker, a slapper. Just genuinely unhappy and unruly. I also remember being a very VERY avid liar. My mother sat down and explained to me why that was bad when I was like four, and then I lied to her directly afterward when she asked me a question.
To this day I am unruly, reckless, and impulsive. But I’m also a Borderline, lol….so factor in all of those wild emotions. I’m very volatile. The only caveat is: I have empathy. Cognitive, I believe.

i disagree with this pattern of describing psychopaths like "psychopathy is where a person hurts other people without caring/person who cant hold down a job, etc.". Now thats an action. Thats like saying autistic people are the ones to freak out when noises are too loud or something. Yes autistic people are sensitive to bright lights and loud noises (most of them) and psychopaths lack empathy and remorse, but it doesnt necessarily mean that they will act on it... It just makes it easier for them to. Also the Robert Hare checklist is outdated and imo just lacking, because he only interviewed psychopaths that are imprisoned, meanwhile most psychopaths are not, and are probably law abiding normal citizens

Their is a correlation with antisocial personality disorder and ADHD. A high number of individuals with APD also diagnosed with ADHD. It’s believed that’s why they have such low impulse control added with low empathy is the reason their lives are so hard and harm those close to them.
You can just have ADHD and not APD. My daughter has ADHD so does her father but he also has APD\sociopathy. My daughter is kind with introspection for others. I have heard therapist opinions on both of them and learned so much.
