Thanks man, I was giving my little plot a shot of liquid fert at each plant to avoid washing down the whole plot with Miracle Grow. I'd rather use urea and wood ashes and I can spread it now in half the time and with twice the accuracy, saving enough to do a couple more rows.
The garden shop didn't have urea prills, they bring that in for de-icing in the winter so I'll get it then, so I bought a sack of lawn urea in clay granular that retards the dissolution. Should be fine, maybe a good idea actually, comments on that aspect would be great...

Hey Logan, I bet fertilizer prices have gone up. Even the organic is as well. Blood & Bone meal, seaweed, fish emulsion, horticultural molasses and the others we use. Some times doing things by hand is the best. Enjoy the rain, it's been in the upper 90's and half of Texas is in a major drought. No rain in the forecast for 10 days. My next garden update will be the importance of mulch. Blessings to you and your family. Mike

I have faced steep fertilizer price increases, I use synthetic in my vineyard organic is just too expensive for the amount needed. minus potash which is organic. My potash was $41 a bag this year and is short in supply because its mostly used by wineries( I work as a winemaker) but we cant get it at work let alone for home vineyard use. Its irritating how much it costs to fertilize as potash needs to be added back as all the potassium goes away with the grapes to become wine and doesnt get added back to the soil.

Hey Logan 👋 Great video today. I'm really enjoying all the happenings on the farm since spring started.👍🌞 Can you tell me if you have ever transplanted garlic before? I put 12 cloves in a pot in November and we had a very mild winter here in the UK. I made a whole lot of new vegetable beds in the yard and transplanted the garlic into 1. They had great root structure and the cloves were beginning to swell but the foliage looks weak now... have I killed them? I was thinking a good fertilising would help but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Any thoughts? Thanks so much 🙏. Take care and all the best from the UK 🇬🇧 Paula 😁🧄

Thanks Logan for showing us how real farmers do it. 0:54 '2 1/2 lbs per row, 80 lb total...50 lb Calcium Nitrate (15.5-0-0) + 30 lb corn starter w/micros (12-18-12)...' How many rows and row length? I notice you're heavy on the Nitrogen side of things. Won't this cause green growth at the expense of bulb growth? How did you decide on these two fertilizers? I think I'm going to take a hint from you and fertilize on top of the mulch. I don't have near the amount of garlic you do, but parting the mulch to add fertilizer to soil around each plant would be a major hassle. After application, I think I'll water in the fertilizer, sending the fert to the plant itself. Thanks again for sharing your ideas with us amateurs.

When you apply the fertilizer, the way you do, that does not burn the garlic plant?

if it rains a little bit now then the nitrogen that fell between the leaves of your plant when fertilizing with a watering can will burn the plants.

Why don't you wear a mask when you mix the fertilisers ? You never too healthy to be affected by its dust and dumes . I'm sure you wanna have kids someday !
