  • With our resident bottle babies now starting to eat on their own, we thought we may have some time to kick back and catch up on sleep. But there are always more kitties in need of a foster home, so we recently welcomed momma cat Boo and her four-week-old babies to Kitten School. Lucky for us, Boo is an excellent mother and is nursing her kittens very well. All we have to do is make sure Boo is taken care of, and she handles all the rest!
    We also have Gretl, a lovely 7-month-old tortoiseshell girl who came from a severe cat hoarding home. She has lice and scabies (sarcastic mange), but is on her way to recovery.
    And we're happy to announce a slew of recent adoptions, including our beloved Amigo, who was adopted with his fellow foster Bunny. These two beauties have a great Dad who wanted some companionship while he works on his Master's degree in video game technology. Nothing sparks creativity and positive thinking like two wonderful cats by your side!

    Well, the bottle babies are eating on their own, but there's no time to kick back and rest -- more newborns are here at Kitten School, though these have a wonderful Momma, so it's not quite as time intensive. See how much everyone's grown, and meet the new guests we have now....including Gretyl, who was rescued from a hoarding house and is being treated for scabies and lice. There's ALWAYS kitty-spectacular something going on here at Kitten School, be sure to subscribe so you don't miss a thing!

    Hello dear friend: Thank you for caring for God's kitties. It would be hard for me to give them up after caring for them since their birth or rescue. I guess I could get used to passing them unto a safe and loving home. May all your provisions be met. Love to you and your household.🤗

      Yeah, my only experience with Rescue is to keep the things. But I recently had experience with Parking Lot Cats that I took in that didn't work out, which may have broken the cycle of my thinking i have to be everybody's Forever Home. Right now I have 5 cats that all get along really well, and I can appreciate that because sometimes you can get a cat that really disturbs the peace.

    You are a great empathetic foster mom, Caroline. There are always good vibes, when I watch your videos. Blessings to you and the furbabies you care for. 💕🐈🐈🐈💕

      Thank you so much, that is a really sweet comment Brigitte! I love these kitties so much, and they bring a lot of happiness to me. Even when the world seems so crazy and there's a lot of misery in places, knowing I can make a difference in these little animal's lives --and that they will grow up to make someone else very happy -- helps me find some peace. Blessings and purrs right back to you!

      Well, Chen, unless your Continent is Antarctica, well, you got plenty of cats there too. But if it IS Antarctica, well, I wonder if Penguins make good pets.

    You're a saint for taking cats with scabies/mange. That is esp tough as it requires endless cleaning and is so highly contagious :(

    • @KittenSchool
      @KittenSchool  Před 2 lety

      Scabies isn't as bad (for me) as ringworm! At least with scabies, once they get the medicine (Revolution, aka Selemectin) almost all the mites die in 24 hrs. With ringworm, that fungus just hangs on and on and you have to give multiple dips plus topical medication. I have never caught scabies but I sure have got ringworm! Thanks for the comment.

    Thanks for the update. I never tire of Kitten School videos! Our little girl cat, Penny, nicknamed "Miss Penn", the one that loves the bathroom, was bottle fed from infancy and is perhaps the friendliest, most affectionate cat we've ever had and healthy as a horse. Thankfully, if mommy cat is sadly taken out of the picture, kittens still do just great under he care of human foster moms!

      I think the bottle babes are often the most affectionate with humans, since they bond so early. My mother in law has two of my former bottle babies, now 3 years old, and they follow her around the house everywhere she goes. It's amazing!

    • @1940limited
      @1940limited Před 2 lety +1

      @@KittenSchool I've often thought that theory is credible. I've heard baby ducks will follow the fist thing they see when they hatch, which could be a human. Our little girl cat is the first "bottle baby" we ever had and certainly one of our friendliest cats ever. Now if I could just figure out her fascination with the bathroom! :-)

      Oh, my Little Siamese Tommy (looks like the "Clown Nose" Siamese from this video (timemark 2:29) , well, he was a rescue that I had to feed around the clock... that little thing had been Starving... took a few days before he would begin to thrive, and, no, he's not any kind of a Snuggle Bug Lap Cat. He loves me in that he takes me entirely for granted, coming to me when he wants something. But, well, now that he's turned 3 he will come by for just Pets and to say Hi and see how I'm doing. But then my easiest Rescue, Franky Blue Tux, well, I think he had been a Parking Lot Dropoff. You see, where I'm from the Local Kennel is famous for euthanizing kittens and puppies because of over capacity and so people don't know what to do when their kids bring home Litters of Kittens after raiding Momma Cats' lairs. SO, they take care of the kittens when they can until they seem old enough to get by on their own and then they jump in their car with a Box for a Kittens and start cruising around looking for Optimum Cat People parking lots. So I was on my Evening Exercise Walk and took a short cut through a Parking Lot that services a Coffee Shop and Cafe, a Cell Phone and Internet Provider Office, and a Boutique.... yeah, I guess they thought some Up Scale Cat Lady would find the kitten but it was ME. I gasped when I first saw him... love at first sight. He was my easiest rescue because I think he must have been dropped off in only the last couple of hours. He didn't seem stressed at all. Now, HE's the Affectionate One! But maybe that Original Person did a really great job taking care of that Litter before doing the Drop Offs.

    Timemark 2:29, yeah, Caroline, I get my own 'Clown Nose' Siamese, my "Little Siamese Tommy", but, well, he is getting pretty LONG, though he's still slender after 3 years. He was my 'rescue' kitten... he was almost dead and I did a few nights feeding him around the clock. I never thought of just fostering him. I think that somebody snuck up and put him down at my door... often the children will raid Cat Lairs and come and say that the Mother had abandoned them, when, really, the mom was just out getting fed. Many parents think it is teaching the children a lesson if they just let the children see that their intervention only just kills the kittens, but I have a feeling that before this kitten died the parent lost his or her nerve and snuck the cat to my door (second floor apartments... but I've know kittens to climb those stairs before if they were motivated). but, yeah, I was cooking dinner with just the screen door in place to keep my kitchen cool and I heard something... one of my own cats reacting and as soon as I saw that little Clown Nose I said out loud "Damn! I love Siameses". Then seeing how weak he was, well, bringing him back from the Brink was a Bonding Experience that still holds me in its grasp.
    Then there is the Boo the Tuxedo Blue (what Cat Show People call solid grey cats) Timemark 0.10 to 0:25. well, she reminds me of my own Franky Blue Tux, who, because of his Copper Colored Eyes must have a lot of French Chartreuse in him. Boo, well, couldn't get a good look at her eyes, but there seems to be a hint of Green which the other Grey Breeds have, the Malteses, the Russian Blues, and the Korats.
    Yeah, good to see you busy, Caroline.

    • @KittenSchool
      @KittenSchool  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, if they are fed well bottle babes can grow up just as big and healthy as ones with moms. Sometimes even better!

      @@KittenSchool Quite possibly better given the sophisticated formulas and medications of today. In some instances with wild animals, I think the mother's nutrients are impossible to replicate. But not so with kitties!

    Any way you can help with kitten intro to two adult sibling cats? Male n female, kitten is male. We have him I separate room with resources. Did scent swapping, gate intro and feeding together. Yesterday male swiped and went after little guy. Female seems more skidish without hissing. More to tell but alot to write
