  • Viomi is back with a new robot vacuum cleaner / mop. Yes it has improved in a few ways, but it does have one more trick: it can empty its own bin. Is it any good? Let's find out! Find the Viomi S9 on AliExpress here: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_bWG...
    Or on Gearbest here: gbe.st/302A7jl
The Viomi S9 is the latest model of Viomi's vacuum and mopping robots. It has improved from their latest flagship model the V3 in terms of battery, suction strength and the water tank seems to have gotten improved on this one as well. Other improvements include a better loudspeaker for voice prompts (not all that needed) and more importantly it's a lot more silent when it's vacuuming, comparing it with the V3 as well.

Great review, just have one question. My not so older V2, always have problems with mopping tiles / ceramic at kitchen, this version it is heavier or have more traction on the wheels? ( My V2 with tiles wet keeps skatting same place and troubles getting around) many tanks

How well does it empty the bin?.. I reckon it varies from what materiel is has consumed.
and how does the rollerbrush handle hair or strains?
but all this with automatic suctinh and empty the bin.. not really something I will prefer.
on a normal vacuum cleaner.. it's okay that the bag is closed and you can't see it, as you after all have micromanaged the cleaning yourself while going around with the vacuum.. but these automatic, its another ballpark, as you have no insight what it has eaten.
We have had the Xiaomi 1G model for many years, and it still rolling solid.
but I have also found some of my girl's jevelery that likely was hidden under the sofa or bed, and other things that I was glad I could overwatch and notice while emptying the bin so it didnt was thrown out.
so on an automatic robot vacuum.. I certainly like that I can see what I'm throwing out when emptying the bin.

How often do you need to replace the bag? Or asked differently, how many minutes of cleanup does it take to fill the bag up? Does the app remind you of replacing the bag when it's full, or do you have to check by yourself?

This is on promotion where I live, I am tempted to buy it. As for comments about bags, I am also confused why they are bags? Everything now a days (including the robot) has a plastic cylinder to collect rubbish and you empty it, so why are there bags on even the most premium vacuum robots?

Having used this products, there are some disappointments
    1. Suck dock doesn't suck up everything....there is dust residue in the dust bin & hepa filter
    2. Mopping is ok, not great....sides & corners don't get cleaned so well....i had sprinkled powder on the floor....it didn't completely remove 8t, instead in spilled the powder in other cleaner places
    3. Customer Support isn't as one would expect for such a costly product....

Hi, my xiaomi mi-robot 1st gen and some 1st Gen roborocks have a problem (mainly on carpet) where every 5-10 minutes they stop with error 5 (please remove and clean mainbrush). 95% of the time the main brush is not obstructed. Xiaomi and retailers refuse to address this problem, which, in my opinion could be resolved with a firmware tweak to adjust/calibrate the roller motor controller. My question is...viomi s9 being developed by xiaomi and having the same error library... Does it suffer from this trait aswell? If like to buy the s9 but not if it has the same problem. Thanks for your time.

      @6hostsurfer Před 2 lety

Hi Mark, I have an old friend with the same name, your not in NZ are you?
To answer your question, I have not found a solution. The error can occur with the main brush removed which makes me question my theory. I haven't made any purchases, I've moved my xiaomi down stairs where it never faults (mainly hard floors).I think that the self emptying models could need even more attention But I will probably get one in the future anyway. I think that the eccovac t9 could be the way to go, the one with dual roller system like the irobot. Mike.
