Indeed. I can't honestly say I'm a fan of most of these movies they tried to kickstart a DC cinematic universe with over the last decade -- in fact, this one is the only one I like, and I still have problems with it -- but I'll give them this: they certainly know how to make these characters feel powerful on the big screen.
Agreed. A lot of people criticize Zack Snyder, mostly for his slow mo obsession. But I think he did a great job with this era of the DCEU. He captured the darker themed cinematography that the DC universe is supposed to have. Although BVS is so so, there's still great moments to it. The end battle between the "Holy Trinity" of the Justice League and Doomsday is epic IMO.
So two things. 1. The reason why the female kryptonian didn’t immediately kill the Colonel guy was because the Colonel guy didn’t surrender or back down even though he saw her massacre all his men easily and she respected that. That’s why she pulled out a knife instead of just immediately backhanding him. 2. The glasses thing actually makes sense because the actor for Superman once stood underneath a poster for I believe Batman vs Superman while also wearing a Superman t-shirt and nobody recognized him. Plus you wouldn’t really expect Superman to be working a normal job. You would just think he has a striking resemblance with Superman.
For the tornado scene, his dad didn’t want clark’s help because it would’ve given away his identity, and clark never forgave himself for saying the stuff he said to his dad
My least favorite scene in the entire movie. It's nonsensical and it completely changes Clark and Superman as a character compared to how his dad dies in most versions of the story
@j0hn00 why do you people always ignore the context of this movie and instead put it in context of other Superman movies? In the context of this movie, it makes total sense.
@@diegoclark7697 It doesn't make sense at all, it's very disrespectful to make his father like that. He would never say to Clark that he shouldn't save people just to keep his identity in secret.
The Glasses thing actually works (also Clark normally changes his posture and personally in his disguise), Henry Cavil did it in front of the Cinema with glasses and a Superman shirt iirc
To answer some questions: There is an animated movie which tells of if Superman was born in Russia (Based on a comic book.) It is called Red Sun Superman. There is also a live action horror movie about if someone like Superman was evil: It is called Brightburn
Jonathan didn't know how strong Clark is and if he even would survive something like a tornado. Even if he could, let's say a car lands on Clark and he survives, the government would show up the next day. Every parent instinct is to protect their child and that's what Jonathan did.
The father felt Clark would be at risk from what people and the government would do if they knew who and what Clark really was. He felt it so strongly that he was willing to give his life to protect Clark's secret.
8:30 There's legit a What If sort of animated film where he landed in Soviet Russia instead. It's called Red Son, and it's genuine gold shit. Worth checking out, if you feel like doing the animated stuff sometime, there's a good hour and a half on it.
The reason why Zod was able to Fly and adapt so fast without his Suit was because his soul purpose was war. So his genetics made him able to be able to use all his combat strengths on every planet they concurred to survive.
7:43 It's likely that the rest of Krypton didn't know that the world was going to end, just as in natural disaster movies, governments never inform people of the situation until it's too late. For this reason, the Council of Krypton locked them in the Phantom Zone, because people have to see that the established rules are complied with.
Don you should check out the Justice League Synder Cut, it's like 4 hours or something 🤷♀️ but its hella better than the original justice league movie.
The age of ice in the Arctic and Antarctic is done by how depth it is. We have a good idea how long it takes to add a new layer of ice in those areas. It's a lot like with rock. The deeper into the material the older it is. Also some plants, animals, and microscopic life can be in the ice and we can tell with those too.
Man of Steel is definitely one of my favorites in the dceu especially when you get to see his dad get down with zod and beats him down which is one of my favorite parts of this movie. Next to wonder woman and Aquaman. It sucks that they won't be continuing with them at least as far as I know of
12:29 Well, one could say that a god did that to him (since DC does have gods), but not directly. The Kryptonian god is Rao. Fun Fact: He founded the House of El, so he is Clark’s ancestor. If we are talking about capital “G” God, we could say that He too is indirectly responsible since He also exists in DC and is the creator. He’s called The Presence though. 36:21 Because it’s basically torture for your senses. And who knows if ALL kryptonians can survive the process. Especially babies.

Oh yeah this film released after Nolan's Batman Trilogy so it does have a very similar dark and gritty tone which also tried to ground Superman in our reality. Personally this something I never really cared for as DC to me is of course a reflection of our reality but it has it's own history, fictional cities, heroes and powerful people. So the idea of having a DC universe that's just our world with hero's was something I never cared about, something the Nolan Batman films did as well. Krypton is by far my favourite aspect of this film, Very H.R. Giger inspired designs a big difference to the more colourful high tech almost retro sci fi look of Krypton from the comics. But Metropolis I always felt lacked, Looks like a generic city made to be destroyed in this film, DCEU in general lacks alot when it comes to it's cities like for me Metropolis does not look like Metropolis at all. Hopefully James Gunn introduces a more 1950s retro futuristic Metropolis with heavy Art Deco to contrast the Gothic Revival Gotham City. As so far Metropolis beyond Superman Return's Daily Planet has never been done justice in live action. I immagine Tim Burtons Superman film would've featured an amazing Metropolis. But overall Man of Steel has grown on me, Not the best DC film but it's fun watch, not great for someone who has no insight into Superman, recommend Superman 78 for that but it's a fun alternate universe Superman take.
You mentioned the age old joke that people always bring up. How the hell do people NOT still recognize Clark as Superman, when all he does is out on glasses, wear normal clothes and do his hair a bit different lol. At least in this movie Lois knows his true identity. In the old Christopher Reeve movies even Lois was fooled by his very simple disguise
About the glasses disguise, don't forget that Henry Caville stood in a Superman shirt in Times Square under the billboard for Batman v Superman which featured his face, and nobody recognized him
"Can you just imagine if he didn't land in America?" Funny you say that, there's actually a story in the comics where that happened. It's called "Superman Red Son". In it, he landed in Soviet Russia instead of a cornfield in Kansas and became a Soviet super weapon. There's an animated movie based on it as well.
36:14 They weren't simply changing the atmosphere, but the gravity as well. You see, Krypton's gravity is 1000x greater than that of Earth's. Their whole point is to colonize to a new planet to build a NEW Kryptonian planet to preserve their race for the next generations. That's why they wanted the Codex, to begin rebuilding their race as Zod only wants the best and the strongest to conquer.

Fun fact. During the release of Batman v Superman Henry Cavil walked around Time Square wearing a superman shirt and glasses and nobody recognized him even when there was giant ass billboard with his face on it right there too. So yes the glasses work 😂
There's an even funnier reason in the comics. Superman, as Clark Kent, will slouch, wear just bare frames and baggy clothes and slightly mess his hair up to disguise himself. Nobody notices at all.
I mean in the Superman: Animated Series Clark straight up tells Lois that he's Superman while typing away at the Daily Planet and she doesn't even believe him. This film doesn't really show the Clark aspect of Superman at the daily planet so I don't blame people for thinking it's silly, Also there's very little change between Clark and Superman in this film when you compare it to the original films.
The way that they measure the age of the ice is through carbon dating. Carbon dating is done by measuring the half life of I believe carbon 13, so by measuring the amount of carbon in the ice they can determine the age of the ice, or anything else.

0:27 DC has already produced many movies in the past involving film names of Superman, and because Superman also goes by the name "The Man of Steel," they decided to go by that name since they over used his name on a film title. Also because they made enough reboot films of him in the past so yeah
37:40 and u gotta remember...wen all this happenes , hes only really been " superman " for 1 day......this all happened the day after he learned to fly ..
Something important to notice is that the black suits zod and them used absorb sun radiation much quicker and not to mention they have been warriors their entire lives with experience while this was supermans first actual fight
thats not what those are for lol that was what you wear under your suits probably haptic in order to interface with the armor the way zod reacted was a big red flag against your argument for that or he and the others would have just waited to become gods had they known they would be influenced by the sun and why keep kryptonian norms on environmental if you knew they limited your abilities
@@ilikeknives1000 In fairness, he may have a point because of the way physics works. If you wear a black shirt on a bright sunny day, you'll get warmer much quicker because black absorbs light a lot better than other colors and gets warm. It might not be the purpose of the suits, but an unintended consequence of being a Kryptonian wearing black on a world with a yellow sun. But that's just my theory
"Can you imagine what would happen of he didn't land in America?" Comic - "Red Son" In that story, Kal lands in Ukraine, part of the Soviet Union. Great comic, worth reading.
Yes, your heart is actually in the center of your chest. However, the left side of the heart is the side that pushes the blood out and into the rest of your body, so it has a stronger beat than the right side. Because people could feel the left side of the heart beating, they thought that the heart was on the left, not in the middle of the chest. Unless people see something like the organs in the body shown, like in this movie, or study human anatomy, most people have no reason to learn where the heart is really located. Also, Mr. Kent does from a heart attack in most, if not all, other versions of the story.
Just remember it’s Batman v Superman: Ultimate Edition (3hr) next, followed by Suicide Squad: Extended Cut (2016), Wonder Woman (2017), Zack Snyder’s Justice League (4hr), Aquaman (2018) and Shazam (2019).😊

35:24 Don just so ya know for the future, Mach 1 in speed is the speed of sound, mach 2 is twice the speed of sound, so yes mach 24 is very fast and similar to the speed at which a rocket takes off and leaves earth, being roughly Mach 25-30
7:13 The council didn't believe the planet was going to explode so soon. That's what Jor-El tried to warn them about but they didn't take him seriously
The thing that should be pointed out is that Kryptonians only have to be in the close vicinity/proximity of a yellow sun (for example, being on Earth) for their genetics to become enhanced. Superman and any Kryptonian do not have to be in direct sunlight, just have to be close to the yellow sun. I remember that from reading the comics when I was a kid. I don't know why people are shocked that the Kryptonians are strong as Supermen (because they are the same species). This movie, and the recent animated movies, make the common mistake when Superman is not on Earth and in a different universe because the farther away he is from a yellow sun, the less powerful he is. Krypton has a red sun, which does not enhance their genetics. They are "normal" in the presence of a red sun.
Hundreds of cycles in an empty void in which you have lost all your basic rights and requirements. A fate worse than death. Immortal suffering. That’s why.
Dunno if anyone said this on YT or Patreon but there is actually a story where Superman doesn't land in the US. It's called "Superman Red Sun" and basically it's about if Superman crashed in the Soviet Union during the Cold War. It got an animated movie but I can't confirm how accurate it is to the comic
I think they called this one Man of Steel because there was an old series of 4 or 5 Superman movies from the 70s and 80s. Then they did a one movie reboot of that in the 2000s. Man of Steel is a different story / universe, so they probably went with that name to distance it from the other series of movies. There's a Superman comic series titled Man of Steel as well.
His father dying to a tornado with him right there has to be one of the worst decisions every made in a superhero movie, but aside from that, the movie was damn fantastic.
one thing i found funny you mentioned is their is a version of superman whos pod did land in soviet russia, i think hes called superman redsun, but not sure
It seems like every time you hear somebody say a movie is good, what they really mean is it's sad. Because different people have different senses of humor, but sadness is universal.
okay two last things. The glasses. The idea is no one really thinks a being like Superman would walk amongst mere mortals. Superman scream of anguish of killing Zod. Clark has a fundament respect for all life. Also, Zod is the first life he has ever taken.
Not only that,Zod was the last remaining Kryptonian alive on earth. The others were sent back to the Phantom Zone. I have to believe they were rather upset about that.
@@user-be7tc2bd6e I wonder if they even the survive getting absorbed back into the Phantom Zone. Remember, when they were originally exiled to it, they had some protection around them.

0:27 DC has already produced many movies in the past involving film names of Superman, and because Superman also goes by the name "The Man of Steel," they decided to go by that name since they over used his name on a film title. Also because they made enough reboot films of him in the past so yeah
Don is my favorite CZcamsr that reacts to movies and shows
37:40 and u gotta remember...wen all this happenes , hes only really been " superman " for 1 day......this all happened the day after he learned to fly ..
Man of steel is what he was called in the comics for a long time. Just how people described him.
"Can you imagine what would happen of he didn't land in America?"
Comic - "Red Son" In that story, Kal lands in Ukraine, part of the Soviet Union.
Just remember it’s Batman v Superman: Ultimate Edition (3hr) next, followed by Suicide Squad: Extended Cut (2016), Wonder Woman (2017), Zack Snyder’s Justice League (4hr), Aquaman (2018) and Shazam (2019).😊
this is was one of my favorite dc movie all time never gave him another just like the amazing spider man they deserved more solo moments
Can’t believe you left out the “where did you train on a FARM?”
8:01 yea lol there are 2 movies about If he didnt land in Anerica, lol well one , but 2 if he went bad ..one is Red Son ....Animated DCU ... and BRIGHTBURN , but thsts about a kid not named superman but has the same story , same powers .. but he realizes hes superior and turns evil... hell of a movie
When you asked what if Kal-El (Superman) did not land in the US. There is a graphic novel and animation that covers that. Check out Red Son,
you have to remember that the counsol didn't jor'el saying the planet was going to explode.
35:24 Don just so ya know for the future, Mach 1 in speed is the speed of sound, mach 2 is twice the speed of sound, so yes mach 24 is very fast and similar to the speed at which a rocket takes off and leaves earth, being roughly Mach 25-30
43:21 the sign switching to 0 days without an incident LMAO
They did do alternate versions of the Superman story where the baby came down in Russia and the UK in comic form and animation.
MOS fights looks how a perfect shonen anime adaptation would look like
“Man of styll” 😂
Hundreds of cycles in an empty void in which you have lost all your basic rights and requirements.
A fate worse than death.
Immortal suffering.
That’s why.
Love you don
Dunno if anyone said this on YT or Patreon but there is actually a story where Superman doesn't land in the US. It's called "Superman Red Sun" and basically it's about if Superman crashed in the Soviet Union during the Cold War. It got an animated movie but I can't confirm how accurate it is to the comic
8:19: there is a pretty good superman comicbook were he landed in Russia.
When zod did the eye lasers, that’s when Bruce’s friend was killed
19.40, this was done with brightburn, great film. Definitely worth a reaction if you haven't seen it yet
7:08 because the " council " didnt agree with Jor-El about the planet about to reach critical and explode
hes strong, he is holding back heavily so that he doesn't kill them or anyone else
8:10 There's actually an animated dc movie about that... if he didn't land in Kansas
@@trence5 I don't think that was protection around them, more like encased for imprisonment. They survived getting absorbed back into the Phantom Zone, remember it's a prison designed to hold them captive for all of time.
And he was a kryptonian, even if he was "evil" He was not alone anymore
20:09 there’s is an evil version of him “brightburn” I’m pretty sure
His dad doesn't want to reveal his identity that's why he refused for Clark to save him
There is actually a movie called Brightburn from 2019. It's sort of an "what if superman (and the kryptonians or from whatever planet that universe is from) turned out to be evil. It's actually not that bad
The most underrated superhero movie. Man of steel is a class film
33:36 This guy is the famous Balls of Steel
I love that your checking out the dceu🎉
The Codex predetermines what role a kryptonian plays in Kryptonian society
